“She came through surgery fine. Don’t let all the IV’s, monitors and the respirator scare you. Most of it’s for precaution. She is unconscious. The next 24 hours are very important. If she wakes up by tomorrow night, chances are very good. If she doesn’t…well, she will probably slip into a coma, and then it’s just wait and see. There’s not much you can do for her now, but there is a very nice chapel near the dining room.”
“We’ve already been there,” Karen said.
“Feel free to talk to her,” the doctor encouraged. “She may not respond, but there is a good chance in a few hours she will be able to hear you.”
