Chapter 14 – Tanner's Ferry
Calael walked down a country road on his way to the town of Tanner's Ferry. He was on an Agrarian world called Rosie's Respite. Though it was Agrarian-controlled, it wasn't part of the Commonwealth, and it was highly Breed-diverse. Tensions had escalated, and the government was struggling to maintain control. There was talk of revolution and civil war. It was the perfect tinderbox for an assassination.
Calael breathed deeply, enjoying the feel of the hot, humid air in his nose and lungs. Tanner's Ferry wasn't in the tropics, but it was close, and many people found the summer heat oppressive. Calael sweated, but he was a Harowaith, and he was trained to tolerate almost any environment.
