Adere crossed the first river leading to his father's maternal home and was about to cross the second river when a man came running towards him with his own horse. Both horses knocked heads and Ader saw himself falling off the horse and hitting his head on a stone. He passed out immediately.
When Adere woke up he found himself seated in a small room with only one small window above his head. There was a dirty chain round his left leg. He tried to shake it off but it was tight on him. He managed to stand up and felt a sharp pain in his head. He touched his temple and looked at his palm to see blood. He paused to think and remembered what happened to his last. He coughed and looked out of the window. What he saw was the compound of the grand palace of Aba. He robbed his eyes twice to make sure he was not dreaming and was about to look out again when the door of the small room flew open and a man walked in, dressed in black satin. His face looked bushy and he had a long stick in his left hand.
"Who are you and what am I doing here?" asked Adere but the man sat on a dirty small seat beside the exit door and sighed. "I thought you would be bigger" said the man.
"I said..." Adere tried to say a word again but the man stood and rushed towards him, holding him by the neck, almost strangling him. "You think you are more important than everybody in the land not so" said the man.
Adere shook his hands off and said to the man's surprise, "You are lucky. Remove this chains from me and you won't be standing in the next minute"
The man paced and stopped before him and said, "I'm King of Aba" Adere was shocked.
"Yes, but I dressed this way because the time for pretending is over. I want to know what you know. I want to know what you want to do" said the king.
"Why don't you remove the chains and find out?" asked Adere. The king got upset and flogged him across the back with the heavy stick. Adere screamed.
"If your mind is telling you that I'm here to play with you I will remind you that I have a kingdom to look after. But my people haven't recognised any good thing I have done for them. Perhaps they are yet to because The Ancient Beast is ruining my reign. But you can help erase this shame from my face young man. You can tell me how to defeat the Ancient Beast" The king sounded.
"I don't know how to defeat the ancient beast" said Adere.
