THE MISSION 5

Adere kept glaring at the king of Aba, in his heart he prayed that the king should die right there before him.

"I know you hate me Adere but you know that I don't care about that. You are not more important than a fly in this kingdom and the beast doest not need you to go away. He needs someone more important. Now for the last time, "What is it that you know that I do not know and why where were you heading to your father's maternal home?" The king realised that Adere was not going to say a word. He instructed the guards to strip Adere's mother off her cloth. Before they could touch her Adere screamed and they stopped. "Enough! why not send your men to my father's maternal home to find out by yourself why I was on my way to that place. Why could you not allow me enter there if you were so eager to find out why I was on my way to that place in the first place. I must tell you, do not touch my mother for even me myself do not know why I go to my father's maternal home but I had hope that upon my arrival in my father's maternal home whatever that lured me there will reveal itself to me" said Adere.

"Then you must confess that there is something there, something capable of getting rid of the ancient beast that has made my reign miserable" said the king.

"I would not say my king but maybe if you allow me go there I will bring back the answer to your question" said Adere and the king laughed.

"You would not take me for a fool would you? you expect me to let you go...

Before to king could finish Adere stopped him. " You still have my mother here with you. But you must promise me that not even a single hair on her head will be touched while I'm aware to bring your answer" warned Adere.

"You have no right to...the king tried to say a word but Adere continued again, " both of us will have everything to loose if I fail to find out why I'm being sent to my father's maternal home. I will loose my mother and you will loose a kingdom" Adere sniffed and the king stood up. "Very well" he began, "I will give you twenty of my men. They will escort you back to the road leading to your father's maternal home and they will take you to that house and you will bring whatever is there and bring it here. I'm giving you fourth eight hours to get this done else you won't return to meet your mother in one piece" the king threatened and instructed the guards to unchain him and chain his mother. They did and Adere was too weak. He kept on holding onto his mother.

"I did not set your free for you to suckle at your mother's breast. There is work to be done" The king said and left the cell with some of his men.
