"He shatters a person." Carter states straightforwardly.
"What if there's nothing to shatter, what will you do then?" I ask, Carter's hand made its way up my waist. He pulls me closer towards him until there was a small gap left between the both of us.
"There's always something to break darling." his minty breath fans my face, I felt myself almost falling for his words. But I'm stronger than this, I won't let a narcissist ruin my plans.
"Too bad I don't have anything, you can try all you want but you'll never find anything." I say, my eyes struggled to stay sane from his bewildering gaze. His gaze was like a hawk, so patient yet cunning.
"I'm trying to let you off easily, I can't have you mixing up with the dark side." Carter moves backwards, pulling his hands back.
"The dark side? You're just a rich boy whose only rich because of his parents." I say, people like him are privileged. They always get what they desire, they splurge their money without thought.
"Here's the thing darling, I was never always rich." he says quietly, for a split second I noticed him withholding a saddened expression.
"This is a joke," I mutter, how did he become a King if he wasn't rich in the first place? "I need a drink." I say, turning away from him.
I could tell Carter was watching me intrigued, he was interested. And that's where my game starts, capturing the attention of the prey was the only thing I had to do tonight.
I could tell that Carter was lying to me, he was trying to make me feel sorry for him. I couldn't understand why he would tell me he wasn't rich before, he'd always been rich and I know for sure its a fact.
I make my way towards the area where there were bottles and bottles of drinks. There was no way I would attempt drinking at a party. I gaze at a glass that was sitting on top of the table.
It was a glass of water, filled to the top. It didn't look like it had alcohol at all. I grab it instantly, taking a long sip.
But that was my mistake, that water wasn't water. It was alcohol in disguise, and I had mistaken It for something as innocent as water.
My mind was telling me to stop drinking but I couldn't. I continued to drink more, it had a addicting taste. My vision wasn't blurry yet, it seems like I have a high alcohol intolerance.
"Want another drink?" I heard an unfamiliar voice question. I look up to find Reuben Foster in all his glory in front of me with a glass of alcohol in his hand. Why was a King approaching me?
I take the drink from his hand, downing the burning substance down my throat. This feeling felt so surreal, the feeling of completely being free and out of your mind for one night was truly amazing.
Reuben doesn't move, he takes a seat next to me. He had another drink in his hand but he wasn't making any effort into drinking it. I scowl at his appearance, it wasn't fair that he was gifted with so much power.
But he abuses his power. He breaks hearts, he was a devil in disguise waiting to take people hell with him. He was so fond of playing games with people, there was no way in my drunken state I was going to let him mess with me.
I stand up from the seat I was sitting on, I attempt to walk but I felt like falling. Before I could touch the ground, I felt Reuben's secure grip on my waist. He pulls me back, turning me around to face him.
"There's no use of drinking if you can't handle it." he states bitterly before removing his arms away from me in the speed of light. A cold expression masks his face, this was his usual expression.
I ignore his comment before walking off, I needed to find Anna. Only she will be able to take me home, but I couldn't find her anywhere. She did say something about a curly haired boy driving her home.
After searching for ten minutes, I finally gave up on searching for Anna. I checked everywhere but upstairs. I muster up the courage to walk up the rather large stairs that seemed threatening in my current drunken state.
As I walk up the stairs I felt my legs wobbling, I had a feeling that I was going to fall down the stairs at this very moment. You can do this, you were named after that girl from pretty little liars for a reason.
I finally make it up to the top.
There could be several rooms Anna could be in. Maybe she's making out with that curly haired boy, his hair slightly resembled ramen noodles.
"Ramen noodles." I murmur, walking drunkenly around. His hair was easy to spot, but I couldn't see him anywhere. I open the door to the room on the far left, judging by the silence there was nobody in the room.
As I enter the room I turn on the light. There was nobody in this room. The interior seemed neat, the walls were painted white with black furniture to match the aesthetic. The room smelt undeniably mesmerising, the person who probably owns this bedroom probably smelt just as intoxicating.
I shut the door behind me.
The bed looked very inviting, it was a king sized bed — it was as if it was destined for a King to sleep in. I lay down on the soft bed, instantly feeling a lot relaxed.
I found myself snuggling into the big puffy pillows, everything felt a lot better. The large headache I had at this moment just needed a good night sleep to get better.
The door suddenly opens, I notice that it wasn't just any person who opened the door. It was a King. To be exact, it was Carter Dean.
He seemed like he was exhausted. I blatantly ignore him as he makes his way towards me. "You do realise this is my bed." Carter says, gesturing towards the large King sized bed I was laying down on.
"If I knew it was your bed I wouldn't have bothered to sleep on it." I mumble frustrated, struggling to get up. Carter pushes me down, preventing me from getting up.
"You should sleep Aria." he tells me as he pulls the duvet cover over me.
"I need to go home." I murmur, my mother would kill me if I'm not home by curfew. The worst bit is that if she realises that I'm drunk she'll kill me, she absolutely hates alcohol.
"Should've prevented yourself from drinking if you came here by yourself." Carter states, making me feel even more annoyed at myself.
I hate to admit that he was right, I could've just left after gaining his attention. There was no use of spending extra time at this party if here wasn't anything else for me to do here.
"I need to go now, it's not like I'm that drunk anyways." I tell him, making my way out of his bed. Carter pulls me back, I look up to meet his eyes.
"Drunk driving is never safe, you could harm other people on the streets." he comments, grabbing something from his closet. It was his car keys.
"I'm not getting in your car."
"Darling don't test me, there's no use of resisting." he says, leading me out the room. I clench my jaw at his words, I hated him and his friends for a reason, they had too much power.
Carter wraps his arm around me as we walk down the stairs, I could feel the burning gazes people were sending me. I hated the attention, especially if it's all because of a King.
"So tell me darling, did you bring a car with you?" Carter questions, his grip tightening on my waist.
"I did, it's parked a block away." I respond as he nods his head, walking towards the exit of his house.
"Carter, where are you going?" I heard a voice say, Carter stops walking. He turns around instantly, that voice was really familiar.
I turn too, only to make eye contact with Reuben Foster. He throws me a cold glance as he notices me, I'm guessing he doesn't like me at all. But he doesn't like any girl in Selveridge High, after all that's the only reason why he doesn't catch feelings.
I secretly think he's gay, but it's too early to assume.
"I'm dropping her home." he responds calmly, Reuben walks towards the both of us.
"She does have legs, she can go by herself don't you think?" Reuben questions, he was testing my patience. How does he think it's safe for a person to walk in a drunken state at 11 pm?
"Are you stupid?" I snap, not happy with the way he was acting. "Do you think I'm capable of walking all the way to my house in my drunken state, I've never met such a stupid individual." I scoff, Reuben glares at me harshly.
Carter laughs. "It's nice to know I'm not the only one you call a stupid individual." he mumbles as Reuben seems to get even more frustrated.
"Does she know who we are?" he says spitefully, this guy was known as the bad boy of Selveridge High for a reason. His rude remarks and cold attitude practically made him gain the title he has till today.
"She does." Carter responds for me, for some reason he didn't really care about Reuben's anger towards me.
"How are you letting her talk to you like that?" Reuben asks, he seemed confused.
"She's new, it will only be a matter of time she realises how the monarchy works." Carter says smugly, before turning towards the exit.
"She'll realise sooner or later the monarchy doesn't allow disrespect."
