"So will you date me?" he inquires.
The class bell rings loudly as I jolt up instantly. Only to find the teacher sleeping and Carter still beside me and Reuben and Elliot in the far corner. Did I just dream of a scene that never happened?
That wasn't a dream, a big nightmare indeed. If Reuben actually knew of my little revenge plan, he would've caused chaos in my life. After all, he was willing to brew a storm any time, his infamous label as a bad boy isn't there as decoration.
"You're finally up?" Carter mumbles, his gaze lingers on me. I nod my head, he still seemed irritated at my comment. I guess I dozed off after he began blatantly ignoring me.
"Listen Carter, I apologise for saying your parents money is how you live so lavishly." I lie, I needed his trust. Trust was key in getting under someone's skin, you'll need their trust to find out their deepest darkest secrets.
Carter shrugs his shoulders before throwing me his renowned smirk. "I don't blame you, the way I'm earning, it's scary for a seventeen year old."
"Owning a personalised school blazer says a lot." I mutter, glancing at his exquisite attire, it was a little too flashy for school. But what can you expect from a person from Selveridge High?
If you don't dress good, you're socially excluded and labelled as an outcast.
"What were you dreaming of that you jumped up?" Carter questions, tucking his chair in.
I shiver, Reuben asking me to fake date him. How bad can my imagination get?
"Nothing bad."
I respond, pulling my bag over my shoulder. I glance at Reuben from my peripheral vision, he always had an expressionless face. He didn't seem like a touchy person, this clearly explains how my dream was in fact a dream.
I make my way out of the classroom before any of the Kings, I wasn't willing to have my dream become reality. Being left alone with one of them seemed like a nightmare. But if I wanted to destroy them, I'll eventually have to become closer towards them.
I notice my cousin, Anna, walking with a frown etched on her face. I quickly make my way towards her, her frown disappears instantly.
"Hey," she says brightly, the negative vibe she was radiating managed to disappear in an instant. "What homeroom class did you get assigned to?" she questions, interested.
"You wouldn't believe who," I say, the universe seemed to favour me and place me in the same home room with the Kings. "The Kings." I state, her eyes widen as she jumps.
"That's amazing." she exclaims, punching my shoulder a little too hard. Her excitement never fails to hurt me, physically.
"I don't know what to do Anna, they all seemed so conserved that it's hard to get under their skin," I say hopelessly, looking at her with a frown.
Anna chuckles, opening the locker in front of her. "Don't worry, you'll find a way." her words don't help me at all, I was lost. What could I do?
"Your words don't make my situation better." I mumble, leaning on the locker beside hers. "Those guys are hard to read since all they do is either smirk or keep an expressionless face." I groan, watching the Kings from a distance.
There was one King that stood out the most. It was Elliot Grey. Tattoos wounded around his body, his eyes dark and stormy, he seemed so different. But this could be apart of his charm, but the glasses he wears separates him from the title of a cliched bad boy.
"I have an idea." I say, there was one way to see Elliot Grey without this nerdy persona he forces the people in Selveridge high to believe. It was to go to one of his infamous fights.
"Where does Elliot Grey fight?" I ask Anna, she raises her eyebrows.
"There's a club downtown called midnight city, Elliot Grey happens to partake in the illegal fighting rink underground," she says as my phone vibrates.
I open the message Anna just sent, it was the address and other details about the club. "This club is hard for you to get into Aria, you're going to have to dress to impress — that's the only way you'll be able to enter." Anna says before slamming shut her locker, before walking towards the opposite direction.
The class bell rings, alerting everyone that it was time for third period. I watch as Elliot takes off his glasses for a moment, I almost gape at his appearance. Without those glasses, his features seemed sharper and swoon worthy. Enough to make anyone fall into the storm his eyes were threatening to create.
He places them back on, walking towards his class. But as he passes me, I could felt the slight tension as his shoulders brush past me. His intoxicating cologne was enough to make anyone addicted, but not me. I won't let his charms distract me from my ulterior motive.
He's a King, Kings are meant to be dethroned.
