“Did you manage to talk to him?” Rene asks.
“No. I spoke to his old boss. He gave his notice a week ago. Didn’t explain why or where he was going. He just left. From what they can tell, he’s disappeared from the face of the earth.”
“Maybe you should report this to the police. The note’s kind of threatening,” Rene says. He doesn’t like this at all. He finds he cares a lot more than he’d expect he would care about a human, but then, he’s seen over and over again that he cares about Evan, despite not knowing him long and him being a human.
“I’ll make a call,” Evan agrees, and Rene encourages him to make it right away. Rene sits with him while he makes it, tail swishing, and it doesn’t sound like the police are overly worried, which pisses Rene off. At least he knows that while Evan’s here,
