“Mia, Cameryon had an accident. We’re heading to the emergency room.”
Mia’s body went numb at the news, heart lurching in her chest. “An accident? What happened?”
“I don’t know. He went to the bathroom after dinner and when he came out, he was panting heavily and trembling. The boy could hardly breathe. Then he fainted in my arms. We’re just arriving at Hope Hospital...”
From a distance, Rex noticed the panic expression on Mia’s face as she paced a small quadrant of the floor, the blood draining from her face. Something was wrong. Just as he stood from his seat, she nodded and hung up the phone, heading back to the table.
“What’s the matter, Mia?” he asked, now worried it was another threat from The Sun.
She could barely get the words out. “I...need to go.”
