EPISODE 2: THE FLASH DRIVE

Ellie's fears disappeared when the man told her everything. “I should be grateful to you, Dexter. Thank you for taking care of me.” smiling Ellie replied.

“That's fine.” the simple answer of the young man.

Ellie couldn't seem to believe that the man she rejected before is in her front now. And that man looks 10 years younger than her even the reality is she's 1 year younger than him. She didn't think that his appearance would change much after 10 years.

Dexter Castillo is Dexie’s twin brother and the sole heir of their company. 10 years ago, Dexter was known as a fat and dark young man, this was also the reason why Ellie rejected him back then when he tried to court the girl but after ten years in America for studying, it seems that he turned back as a handsome angel.

If before, he used to be a target of the bullies because of his weight, now he is being chased by women because of his elegant physique. Not only Dexter's body is now admired by women but also his mestizo skin, handsome face, and stature.

“When did you came back?” Ellie asked curiously.

Dexter lowered his cup of coffee to the coffee table before answering Ellie's question. “Three months ago. I had to go home because Dad will be running for senatorial election so he will need a new successor to him as Chairman.” brief explanation by the young man.

“In that case, why didn't Dexie tell me you were back? Is it still because of the past? I can't blame her if that's the reason.” Ellie asked again.

She had nothing else to say but to ask.

“Maybe she didn't tell you because you're still busy arranging your divorce back then.” Dexter reasoned.

“Maybe you're right...I hope so.”

Ellie is still isolated because she seems to be talking to someone else and not the Dexter she knows. However, she can't reveal her awkwardness to the young man because she will only look like a woman who suddenly liked the man she rejected 10 years ago.

She was not used to this kind of dealing with Dexter.

“I think you've fully recovered now so I'll take you back to your home.” smiling Dexter said as he stood up to pick up his car key.

Ellie seemed to feel something when the young man told her that.

“A-Are you dismissing me right away?” she asked calmly.

Dexter stopped walking.

“I understand, You're still upset with me,” Ellie added after she got up from the chair.

As a result, Dexter slowly turned to her and pocketed both hands in his pants. “That's a decade ago, you were married to the man of your life and I'm already engaged to the woman I love so that's all part of our past being the teens. All situations in life have a different reason so I haven't reason to be upset with you.”

“Engaged?” Ellie's shock.

Dexter nods, “Yes, I'm engaged.”

Ellie's heart seemed to drop when she heard this. She wants to stop her tears from dripping so she just smiled and congratulated him. “Best wishes! I told you before, that you can also find a woman who will love you, and now, it's all happened! I'm so happy for you, Dex!” Ellie tries to calm herself by forcing herself to be happy.

“Why do I feel this way?” she whispered herself wondering why she felt hurt when she discovered that Dexter was already engaged.

—••10 YEARS AGO••—

“I like you, Ellie.” a confession of love was uttered by Dexter for the maiden as they stood in the middle of the Park. As the meteors fall in the sky, the hope that Ellie gives him a chance was shine and fall like it.

“Sorry.” Ellie's only answer.

“What's the reason why you don't like me? If you say what the reason is, I will stop court—”

“Fine, I will tell you! You're fat, you're dark, and have curly hair! That's why I will never like you!” the maiden's strong response.

Tears welled up in Dexter's eyes because he couldn't imagine that Ellie would say this to him. The rejection and insults he experienced from his beloved girl were even more painful than the bullying by his classmates.

“Now that you've heard that, I want you to stop courting me, okay? Please stop!” Ellie added.

Dexter no longer forced himself on the girl. “I knew you would reject me, but I never imagined that you would trample on my character like this. Don't worry, I'll make sure it doesn't get to Dexie.”

Ellie just nodded, “You'll also find someone who will love you one day, and it won't be me.” after Ellie let go of these words, she immediately left the park causing the tears Dexter hold back to drip.

Unfortunately, heavy rain suddenly fell in the middle of the night while the young man wasn't carrying an umbrella. There, the pain of rejection he felt, intensified even more.

“Dex!!” a woman shouts from behind him.

While soaking wet, Dexter slowly turned around, and there, he saw his twin sister carrying an umbrella. Dexie quickly hid her twin brother in her umbrella and hugged him tightly.

“I heard and saw everything.” Dexie's disclosure, “She's right, you can also find a woman who will love you, the one who won't hurt you and she isn't that woman.” the maiden added to comfort her twin brother.

“You have to get in the van, you might get sick.” their butler advice them. The twins immediately followed.

Not far away, Ellie came out of hiding in the big tree while soaking wet.

“I'm so sorry, Dexter.” her crying whispered.

While Dexter is driving, Ellie secretly glanced at him. Ellie watched his handsomeness and think that it was so admirable.

“Don't you have any plans to move to another house?” Dexter asked.

“Tomorrow, I will try to find a cheap apartment.” the young woman answered right away.

Dexter just nodded, “I see.”

They soon arrived at Ellie's house. Before getting out of the car, Ellie said something to Dexter. “I didn't intend to tell you that painful words before, I had no intention of hurting your feelings. I haven't a choice back then. Sorry.” the young woman apologizes softly.

After that, Ellie got out of the car. She just waited to disappear Dexter's luxury car in her eyes before she entered her house.

When she entered, she tried to press the light switch so that she could start cleaning the whole house but unfortunately, she realized that she had forgotten to pay for electricity.

“It's just misfortune that comes into my life,” she said calmly to herself after sighing. She had no choice but to light the scented candle she had bought for their wedding anniversary before, but that anniversary will never happened again.

After lighting the scented candle, it was there that the problem she was currently facing came back to her mind again. There, she was covered in remorse because she didn't think before that this situation could happen in her life.

She used to choose Jonathan over Dexter because it was what she thought would be good for her but she would only repent after ten years. As she thought of the good and the bad she and Jonathan had, her tears couldn't stop flowing from her eyes to her cheeks.

Ellie slowly walked to their room before and there, she saw their big wedding picture still attached to the wall. “I didn't know we would reach this point.” the maiden said softly as she held the wedding picture attached to the wall.

She thought that Jonathan would be the man she would be with until she old but it seemed vague that it would come true even in a dream. Out of anger, she unhesitatingly removed the wedding picture and threw it away.

The frame of their wedding picture shattered. Ellie was still not satisfied with this so she even broke the other small picture frames with their faces. Simultaneously with loud crying, she broke each of the photos of the two of them.

When she got tired, she just went to bed but because she remembers in this bed the nights they were together there, she also ruined it.

No one thing that makes her bad memories back will survive.

When she got up, she cleaned up the things she had broken. While she was cleaning, a small object grabbed her attention near the frame of the small wedding picture that she had broken.

As she approached it, she realized that it was a USB. “How come the USB is in this frame?” Ellie wondered.

Out of her curiosity, she took out her laptop and plugged the USB into it. When she opened the files on the USB, she was exposed to the illegal transactions of her ex-husband from various companies.

Then she also found out that her ex-husband sold technology from Dexie's company to its competitor. When due to shocked, Ellie could barely move in her seat. It was as if her legs were stiff.

Unexpectedly, someone rang the doorbell outside of her house, and because she thought it might be Dexter, she didn't hesitate to open the door. However, it wasn't Dexter but Jonathan who wanted to get the USB.

“W-What are you doing here?” Ellie asked her ex-husband.

“I just left something here,” Jonathan answered quickly and immediately entered the house.

Even if Ellie wants to stop her ex-husband, she doesn't have enough strength to do so. She thought of calling the police but, “Where's my cellphone!?”

When Jonathan entered their former house as a couple before, he immediately went directly to the master's bedroom where their small wedding picture was placed which he hid with the USB. A messy and cracked frame was immediately exposed to his sight.

There, he realized that Ellie might have seen it so he quickly approached his ex-wife to find the USB.

“Ellie, Where is the USB? Give it to me!” Jonathan commanded Ellie as he gripped the maiden's right wrist tightly.

Ellie slowly raised her left hand to show the USB. “Is this what you're looking for?” she said sarcastically.

Jonathan tried to grab it but Ellie held on tight.

“Give that to me!!!” Jonathan forcibly snatches the USB from his ex-wife. While he and Ellie were fighting over the USB, Ellie used this opportunity to bite her ex-husband's arm and go down the stairs but she didn't expect him to push her down.

Because of that, she loses her balance and rolls down the stairs.

Ellie still tried to keep her eyes open even though it was hard for her to do so.

“H-Help me... P-Please, help me, Jonathan. I don't want to die here.” dying Ellie pleaded with Jonathan as she lay on the floor and blood flowed rapidly from her head.

But instead of helping her, her ex-husband took the USB in her left hand. “I didn't mean to do that to you, but when I saw you lying there and begging your life to me, I don't understand why I felt this way,” Jonathan replied smiley, and then he left anxiously.

In a hurry, he left the gate and door of the house open.

“Jonathan, I will never forgive you for abandoning me one last time. I swear it,” her promised in her mind as her vision gradually dimmed until she completely lost consciousness with tears dripping from her eyes.

Concurrent with Ellie's unconsciousness was a loud thud in sympathy with her grief. Until the last moment she saw her ex-husband, it still managed to hurt and abandoned her alone.

Meanwhile, Dexter was driving home, a cellphone suddenly rang in his car. He thought it was his cellphone but he saw a cellphone glowing below. Because of this, he stopped his car for a while to pick up the cellphone.

“Whose cellphone is this?”

When he touched the cellphone, he immediately click the side button to turn it on so he can find out who the owner of this. After he opened it, he saw its lock screen wallpaper, the wedding picture of Ellie and Jonathan.

Dexter decided to didn't check the cellphone and go back to Ellie's house to return it well. When he arrived at Ellie's house, he was very surprised that the light inside the house wasn't turned on. He was about to try to ring the doorbell but he suddenly noticed that the gate was open.

“Isn't she closing the gate of her house?” astonishment of the young man.

When he went to the door of the house, he called Ellie but the maiden did not answer him. There, Dexter was even more worried when he saw the door of the maiden's house open so that's why he didn't hesitate to enter it.

Upon entering, he found the bloody and unconscious Ellie on the floor. “Ellie?!!”

He immediately picked Ellie up and put her in his car to take her to the nearest Hospital. “Please just hold on, Ellie.”

When they arrived at the hospital, Ellie was immediately taken to the operating room after she was revived. While Dexter was waiting outside the operating room, a doctor suddenly came out.

“Much blood was lost in her body so we needed a transfusion. Does she have a relative with the same blood type?” the doctor asked.

Dexter knew Ellie had no other relatives.

“What's her blood type? If we are compatible, I am willing to donate.” Dexter replied.

“Her blood is Type AB and we no longer have a stock of this type of blood. If we look for another hospital, the patient may not be able to survive.” the doctor replied.
