An Undercover Spy

    27th of April. Avery's birthday. There was nobody invited to the party because there was no party. Nobody remembered her birthday. Well that's what she thought.      After her mother's death, her father no longer cared of his little girl. Avery's mother always told her father to give her a break from work on that day for her to rest. But this time, he was sending her to another city.      Sitting in her father's private airplane, tears were streaming down her face. She was staring out the window at the whiteness of the clouds.      He didn't even say goodbye, he left before she even woke up with a simple note on the other side of her bed. 'Let Anna take control of unskilled Avery' That was his note.      She wasn't unskilled, she was a perfect spy, agent, assassin and so many things. Anna was her other self. 'Her new self.'     Avery promised him not to mess everything up. It was for two reasons. First, she would disappoint him again. Second, she would get killed. Not by her father, but by a dangerous old businessman she was going to spy on. Little did she know there was someone she will have to protect him from.  ****     Avery was sat on her couch with a book in her hand. She was so engrossed of knowing the soon ending when a knock on the door was heard.      Avery huffed in frustration and called out to who was outside, to enter.      The door opened and entered Nate, her closest friend there. They both had a weird friendship no one would like to have. They both would keep each other's secret safe but they never kept the other safe. They had a game with strange rules. Both would prank each other like cutting the other's head while they're sleeping, get them in trouble with other pack members or even stick papers on their clothes with funny names on it.           They absolutely kept it a secret from the commander, Avery's father because he doesn't like it.           "What do you want, Kate" she asked with a smirk on her face.           Her friend scowled, he surely hated that name. "Nothing. Commander said he wants you in his office, duck"he winked at the 21 years old woman who pouted at him before rolling her eyes.      He calls her duck because there was a time when they were 7, she fell into the river and started jumping like a duck. Nate always said that it is the funniest thing he had ever seen.      "Did he tell you why?"Avery asked as she felt her body cringe.      "Umm no but I guess someone told him that you have been leaving ketchup in people's bed so that they think it's blood"Nate smirked while winking at her again.      "Ugh! How did you know it was me?"she asked, frustration lacing her voice.      "I know my best friend very well"mentions Nate as he walked over and patted her back, secretly leaving a paper with the word 'loser' on Avery's back.           Avery smiled innocently as she shoved him out of the room, putting the same paper on his own back. She knew him too well too!     She dragged herself to the door, hoping her father won't punish her again. He was strict and bossy, he didn't love her.      He had called her to come to his office and she had no idea why. She knocked at the door and after hearing a stern 'Come in', she entered.      She gulped down and asked "Commander, you called to see me. May I know why?" It was f*******n for her to call him dad or even father. Was it really because she left ketchup on the other's bed?     "Yes I did and I have happy news. What you've always wanted is going to happen. You have a mission. Not like the old ones of course, this one doesn't involve fights, it involves the spying skill which you have"he said quickly, not giving her a break to take all the news.      "Oh my god da- commander, this is amazing"she laughed with tears of happiness filling her eyes "Thank you so much" she smiled at him, but he never returned it back, he just said one word that made her freeze in her place.      "It's James Lueders you will be spying on" After hearing those words, her breath got hitched in her throat and the color in her face faded.      She knew he did it on purpose. He purposely chose that man to take revenge on her. Did he seriously want her to go and spy on that man! There would be 75% she would die there. But as always, he didn't care if she was in danger or not.      "There's no way I can do this! Do you not care if I'm in danger or what?"Asked Avery with a high tone as she slammed his desk, on the verge of crying.      "Don't you dare shout at your commander! I'm your dad and you should respect me! Step away right now!"he shouted.      "Oh now you are my dad" laughed Avery sarcastically.           "I am the commander and I can take your position which I know you won't be able to handle and give it to Nate"he threatened.      He meant that she will no longer dream of being the next commander. She will be a...Sweven, a low position in the organization.      Avery stepped back as she looked at him with disbelief. Her tone changed and she asked "When will I go?"she asked, not showing him that she was heartbroken.      "After a week. On Friday"he said void of emotions. She gasped and looked at him wide eyes. She couldn't control the tears anymore and burst out the door, running to her room.      As soon as she opened the door, someone said "You little duck, you put the pap-"Nate was silenced by her heavy tears. His mouth was left open and he looked at Avery before rushing to her and pulling her into a silent hug.      He didn't ask anything, knowing that she will tell him her heart out when she finishes crying. It was like they both were communicating with silent words. He just bear hugged her as she cried on his shoulder. They were sitting on the floor, laying on the door.           "N-Nate"called out Avery between her sobs.           "Yeah?"he answered with a soothing voice while rubbing her back calmingly.         "Do you hate me too?"Her sobs got joined by quiet hiccups as she tried to relax.           "What? Are you silly? You're my childhood best friend. Even if we prank each other all the time, this doesn't mean I don't love you. If you hate it, we will just stop. Wait"he said as he stopped talking"wait, wait, wait. What did the alpha say?" He asked with pure confusion.           "Nate, my own father doesn't love me. Was he only acting that he loves me before mom left us?"she asked ignoring everything he had said.           "Avery, sweetheart, we all know that your father loves you to death. It's just that after the love of his life left, he has been distant to anyone. I know he is so harsh on you but give him time, show him that you will always be there with him. He is just so scared of losing you too" Nate always had the right words to say. Even if he was a jerk sometimes.           "Scared of losing me? He is sending me to James Lueders. Do you know what that means?!"she shouted desperately.           Nate gasped and threw his head back. He couldn't believe it. He would never accept for Avery to go there. Only on his dead body.           "Is this a joke? How can he do that? And why are you going there?"Nate asked as he looked away from his best friend's eyes.         "I told you. He no longer loves me! It's like my mom died and took my dad with her! Why is it like that Nate, why is it like that? He wants me to go and spy on frickin James Lueders!"her sobs returned and she hugged him again, putting a lot of pressure, the poor man could barely breath.         They heard a knock and both pulled away before he opened the door.      Maddie, one of the maids said "Commander said that you should start preparing yourself now"she bowed and walked away after saying this sentence.         They both stared at each other blankly as Avery's face was now filled with mascara and smeared lipstick.        "I hate him!"she screamed and kicked the door closed. Nate stepped away and sat on the couch, thinking. Avery has lost her calmness and was throwing everything she could see.        The door was slammed open and an angry boss walked in with the scariest look on his face. He had heard loud sounds and got furious. He stared at Avery with a disgusted look as she stared back at him with anger on her face.         "I wish you have died instead of mom!"screamed Avery as Nate was looking at the alpha and his daughter with wide saucers.      The hot headed commander lost his calm as his hand raised up and hit his daughter's cheek hardly. "I wish the same thing about you too!" He screamed.           "Get out of my face now! Your flight is gonna be tomorrow. I can't stand you any longer!"he said before walking out the door, giving her a glare.      Avery sighed and laid flat in the bed. Was her fate writing for her to be disowned by her father or get killed by a businessman?
