His passion is taking photographs with his seven-year-old Nikon, a hobby that has become profitable in his life, turning into a full-time job at a number of agencies, allowing him to live a mediocre existence along the lake. 7,639 photographs in all, which are developed in his darkroom, the area he feels most safe in, protected by his work. He frames the photographs, signing his initials in white ink at the bottom, right-hand corners. H. numbers the prints, boxing them up and driving them into the surrounding towns of Hashling, Melvin, Rochester, Titan, and Rudosa. He sells the creations to local business owners, obtaining money to pay his taxes or to purchase oil in preparation to stay warm during a very bitter winter.
