Tulika's pov
I still remember I was only 10 years old that time. Me, my parents and my two siblings. My brother Pritam and sister Priya were twins.
Ma and baba both loved me but after their birth the love divided but I didn't mind.
We were not middle class people but we were lower class.
My ma worked as a cook in some hotel and baba did part time job of a waiter at night and a mechanic in day time.
We didn't have a lot but what we have we were happy with it.
But the problem started when Pritam suddenly got ill. I didn't understand what happened to him. I was really scared because he is only 5 years old..
Baba and Ma always cried for him and he was also in pain.
I prayed to god to give me his pain and heal his illness. But I didn't know God really granted my wish.
I become the path of his healing.
One day when I was reading my textbook baba and Ma came to me.
"Tuli, ma kichu kotha ache tor sathe,(Ma, I have something to talk to you)" Ma said
Yes she used to call me Tuli..
"ha ma bolo,(yes, ma tell me)" I replied to her
"tuli tor bhai khub asushto re or chikitsa korte hobe, anek taka lagbe tui ki tor bhai ke sahajyo korbi? (Tuli, your brother is really sick. He needs treatment. We need lots of money, will help your brother?)" baba asked
The naive me couldn't understand how I could help my brother? I always think about it and when baba said it I could not stop myself from saying yes
" ha korbo to kintu ki kore? Ami to choto, (yes, but how? I am still small)"I said
" toke ato bhabte hobe na tui sudhu ha bol ami toke ek jaigai nie jabo jekhane gele ora taka debe, ( you don't have to think much. Just say yes. I will take you somewhere ,where they will give me money)"baba said
" thik ache ami jabo, (ok. I will go) "I said
How much I wish I had denied it but the damage is done.
Baba took me to Sonagachi and sold me to Trina Masi, she was the same age as my mother.
I didn't like the place as a child. I didn't understand why girls were roaming in these clothes and with those scary mens.
Baba left me there and I thought that he would come back after some time as he said but he never came back.
Months passed and I was getting restless. I asked Masi many times about baba but she said he won't come back again.
I fought with her saying that he will be come what An i***t I was.
I continued my education there only. I was homeschooled.
I was trained in dancing and singing as well…
When I turned 15, Masi told me that I'm sold by Baba and he took money in return for me. She even told me what's my duty and what they all do.
She assured me that before I turn 18 no one will touch me but after it she can't do anything.
I had been habitual of this place now. It was my new home where I stayed.
I never cursed my parents for what they did because I know the reason but I wanted to ask them why they lied to me that I will be back soon when the truth was far from it.
I wanted to ask what was my fault in all this?
But alas! I can't ask anyone anything.
I completed my studies till 12th std as it's the most I will get here.
Masi told me that on my 18th birthday I will be sent to someone who will take my virginity and as a p********e my life will start.
I was scared s**t less that time but I know it was something I can't avoid at any cost. I had to face it.
On my 18th birthday I was sent to a farmhouse kind of place.
There he met Mainak Ghosh, my living nightmare.
That night was a nightmare that I want to forget but I'm afraid I won't forget it till I die. I can't forget how he tortured my body. He scratched me, bit me, even slapped me for crying.
It was very painful. He didn't show any mercy on me considering that it's first time.
I pleaded I cried but he didn't stop. I passed out from the pain..
Next day when I got my senses back I was Back again in Sonagachi.
Masi has given me some medicines for the pain.
Whenever I remember that night I cried very much. But I know it's only the start of my living hell.
When I came here masi said a few things to me that I didn't understand Back then but now I do.
For 3 days everything was calm in my life. No one said anything to me nor asked me to sleep with anyone.
But then I got to know that it's calm before the storm..
Few girls think themselves blessed because they are beautiful but few girls curse themselves because they are beautiful and I'm one of them.
My beauty had captured his (Mainak) attention. He has booked me as his personal p********e.
No man can have me except him. Trina masi has got a huge amount for me. I was groomed more than other girls….
Every Friday night I was sent to the Same place where he took my virginity.
For three nights and two days he used me like a doll. He had his ways with me and I was smart enough to not protest so I won't get beating from him.
He didn't consider me as a human being.

But still few men knocked some girls and gave money to them later. Few took the children after they were born.. Few even denied to acknowledge them as their children.

6 months passed away like this with me bearing every torture he did on me and my body…
But suddenly they stopped sending me to him and Masi told Me that I won't have to go to him anymore as he doesn't want me anymore.
I was relieved to hear it at first but then I realised that it means now I have to serve men daily.. And the mere thought Is enough for me to die with fright…
Trina masi was always a little more generous to me then others.
She give me one month time to heal from the torture he (Mainak) did on me.
After that there was no break for me until I died or escaped but the latter was next to impossible..
