Serina
Alex and I inched closer to the pack training grounds, where we could see a couple of soldiers training. I wondered what I was going to show her, as I still had so much to learn. I still didn’t know why they kidnapped me out of all the witches, but that was a question I would ask at a later date.
I found myself wondering if I should reject Wayne. I mean how could I love a man that kidnaps people, and even though he bought expensive gifts, it didn’t make up for the fact that I was still their hostage.
We were currently standing a few feet away from the sparring wolves watching them intently. And I knew what two spells I wanted to cast. I was going to summon a familiar, and the second one I was going to attempt calling forth the four elements to try and seal ourselves in time.
“Right. Let us begin.” I took off my heels and set them aside, so my bare feet were touching the ground. I closed my eyes envisioning roots anchoring me to the ground, careful not to lose my focus.
“Hear the witch's call from where you are, familiars of the land near and far, I call to thee that we might work as one, and in my calls, I know ye shall come, as I mote it so it shall be.” I started chanting, my eyes closed as I held my focus.
The surrounding air shifted as the wind picked up, the sound of chimes rang through the air as the sound echoed through the forest, turning everyone’s attention to me.
Alexandra’s mouth was agape as she clapped her hands. “Wow, that was pretty amazing, what now though?”
“Now we wait for the familiar to arrive, they will help me when I need them most, as we will both be protecting each other.” I explained, and Alex nodded.
“Now for the last spell.” I said, finally excited that I could do some magic and let my pent-up energies free.
I took a deep breath, closing my eyes. I held out my hands to Alex, and she took them as we both sat cross-legged on the ground. “Spirit of Earth hear my calls, stabilize the energy and protect what’s inside. Spirit of Air free all that is negative and carry it with the wind. Spirit of Fire set ablaze that which does not belong. Spirit of Water let our energies flow through you, as rivers run like veins through our bodies.”
I focused my energy and the surrounding earth shook, the wind picked up circling around us, the clouds looming overhead let a misty rain pour down and thunder struck the ground next to us. I kept my focus drawing even more energy, causing the effects to grow in scale. A ring of fire encircled us, caused by the lightning.
When I opened my eyes, my breath hitched in my throat as everything stopped in time. Alex looked dumbfounded by this as we sat and observed time standing still, defying all that was natural. I closed my eyes, drawing back my energies.
The effects of the spell wore off, and the ground around us, which was burnt to a crisp, had started to grow once more. A circle of flowers now replaced what had been destroyed, and the weather cleared up to reveal the warmth of the sun.
I let go of her hands, and we stood back up. “Holy sh!t.” Alex said, her eyes widened in shock. I smiled softly, slipping back into my heels, I looked around and noticed a crowd had formed around us. They were all in awe at what had just transpired.
It didn’t look like everyone was happy though, because Victor was angrily charging over to where we were.
“Miss Ramirez! To the pack house immediately!” He screamed. He must have really not liked magic. I rolled my eyes as I looked away, following him to the pack house. We arrived at the pack house shortly after, and we sat down in the living room.
“Miss Ramirez, you are here by banned from ever exiting this pack house, since you obviously can’t keep your magic in check. No further arguments.” I rolled my eyes yet again, at how ridiculous this whole ordeal was.
“Whatever you say, Victor.” I replied, turning to walk back to the bedroom I shared with Wayne.
I walked up the stairs all the way to the top, and that is when I stopped.
There were noises behind the door, it sounded like someone was hitting a female from the pack.
I opened the door slightly to see what was going on, when my blood ran cold. The scene portrayed in front of me was heart-wrenching. Wayne was making out with Lilly, one of the female pack members, and things between them were getting heated.
My heart sank and shattered. I don’t know why, but it hurt really badly. I looked away and felt tears welling up in my eyes, before I decided to close the door and walk away. I found myself walking into the direction of the library, and thought that I might as well pass the time by reading, since I couldn’t do anything else.
That is when I heard a soft meow from beside the chair I was sitting at. The tabby cat had black and white fur, matching my hair colour perfectly, and his eyes were the same colour.
“Hello Serina, you called for me in the woods?” I was shocked. The cat didn’t even blink! Maybe I was going crazy?
“You are not going crazy, I’m the familiar you summoned. I will protect you when needed, and you will do the same for me, as that is our agreement. And it looks like you are already in need of some help. Why on Earth would you be sitting all by yourself in this dusty place?” The cat had a lot to say. I sure found it entertaining.
“I did magic, and the Alpha got p!ssed. So now I am forbidden from leaving the place, and I can’t talk to any of the new people I met here except… Wayne, but he seems otherwise occupied…” I stated. At least I had a new friend to talk to to pass the time. And a rather cute one at that.
“What should I call you?” I asked politely. He replied equally as polite “You may call me Ethan.” He sounded proud, and it caused me to giggle.
“What is so funny, Serina?” He asked. And I proceeded to tell him that it was nothing serious, and that I was just glad to have a new friend, which caused him to nod as he laid by my side while I read.
