Chapter 34: Challenge*

1 week later 

“I told you I can’t do it Dion”Jamie said in a frustrated tone.

“You just need to clear your mind and concentrate ! You’ve already can do this with A cat, a horse and a dog. This mouse should be no challenge to you” Dion said Patiently.

“The difference is we want to talk to you. Now hurry up before I eat the mouse” Fluff mind linked

It has been two days since Roaul had left to do some “work” for the King. He did not tell Jamie what is about, but then again he did not know Jamie knew about his role as the Kings Spy Master. He had kissed her and returned her Matantur saying “please try to stay out of trouble until I return”.

 Sam had been left in charge and her magic lessons had started with Dion. He was trying to get her to talk to this mouse.The mouse squeaked in fear and suddenly it something Occurred to her. She picked up the mouse and said “it is ok little one, I won’t let anyone hurt you.”

“Promise? That cat is scary and smells weird!” the mouse mind linked

Jamie smiled “I promise little one. What is your name?” She mind-linked back

“I am called whiskers” the mouse replied

“Whiskers? That is such a cute name!“ Jamie cooed

“Jamie, do you mind filling me in?“ Dion asked

“Oh I am sorry Jamie” said “Whiskers was too scared to talk, so I promised that no one would hurt him and now we are friends”

Dion smiled and was about to ask a question when Bella walked in. “I am really sorry Luna, but could you come to the front Gardern  straight away..there is an issue” Bella said in worried tone.

“Sure, is everything ok?” Jamie said concern, she never seen her so worried. They had become good friends over the past few weeks and she did not like to see her worried. Bella shifted from foot to foot “it is Elsie, she here with Roaul’s mother to officially challenge for the position of Luna!”

Dion sucked in his breath. “Cunning cow has chosen the time she think that you are at your weakest.” Fluff said. “Well shall we greet our guests?” Jamie said, as she let Whiskers free.

Jamie, Bella and Dion all walked out to the front gardern, There were a few members of the pack with sam.  Jamie heard Sam shout “Stand down Elsie, he has founded his fated mate. Just leave it!”

“I won’t leave it you jumped up Mongrel! Raoul is mine! He was promised to me!” Elsie spat.

“Excuse me, can I help you?” Jamie said politely 

Elsie smiled “ah it is the little slut! I come to challenge you for the position of Luna, you are not fit to be Raoul’s fated mate”

“You can’t talk to our Luna like that !“ Snapped Bella staring down Elsie,

lAs soon as I am the rightful Luna, I will make sure that you wish you were never born Bella Bloodmoon!” Elsie said in a threatening tone.

“I would appreciate if you did not threaten my pack members” Jamie said calmly.

“You need a second nomination from inside the pack, as well as a council elder in order for a challenge to take place” Dion interjected. Jamie was still recovering and he did not want her to get injured - it was clear that Elsie wanted blood.

Elsie flashed another smile, “ well it just so happens that Council Elder from Blood-moon pack is here to independently witness  the challenge and Raoul’s own Mother is here to second me. I am sure all the requirements have now been fulfilled.” 

Jamie looked over and saw two other people. One was an older woman who had Raoul’s blue eyes, but with gray hair which was tied up in a neat bun. The women had a sharp face and thin lips that were currently in a frown. The other person was a old man with green eyes, dressed in official looking robes. 

“Dam” thought Dion “ I can’t get her off on technicality.“  

“So the only question that remains is : are you going to fight or save yourself the pain and just step down?” Elsie said sweetly 

“She thinks she has backed me into a corner, the audacity of the b***h!” Jamie mind-linked Fluff.

“Try not to have to much fun” Fluff said and then he started to clean himself.

“I, of course accept your challenge, thank you for doing me the honour Of coming here. Shall we get on with it now, I would not want you to wait” Jamie said very sweetly. Two can play at that game b***h!

“Jamie are you sure you want to do this? “ Dion asked “I could get the King to intercede”

“ no I would not dishonour my pack or mate by doing that” Jamie said Firmly.

“That is a true Luna talking”  said Sam proudly

Dion ran his hands through his hair in frustration. “ I am suprised that Raoul’s Mother would support a challenge against her own Son’s fainted mate”

Raoul’s Mother hissed “I am not going to hand over the pack to someone who is not even a werewolf! She has no family, money or power. She would be nothing but a burden to the wolf moon pack! “ Some of the pack members growled a warning. Obviously the previous Luna was not popular.

“Right come on then” Jamie said  “might as well get this over and done with.“

Elsie and Jamie move into a large space on the front lawn. They stood opposite each other with the Council elder in the middle. The council elder spoke “ you are both here By your own free will. The rules are simple, you can not use magic or weapons, only shifting is allowed” Elsie smiled at this point. “So that is her angle, she thinks without my powers she can beat me “ Jamie thought. “To be honest she probably could! s**t!“

The elder continued “Only shifting is allowed. The contest will end one of three ways; surrender, incapacitation or death. There will be a magical barrier erected to protect onlookers as per the King’s orders. Are there any questions?”

Suddenly the Old crone Goddess face came into Jamie’s mind “think girl!”. Jamie suddenly thought and said “just to clarify no magic but shifting is allowed?”

“What are you mentally deficient?” Taunted Elsie

“Elsie of Gold Moon pack, act like the Luna you wish to become!” Snapped the Elder “Yes Jamie of the Wolf Moon pack that is correct.”

“Thank you elder.“ Jamie said politely 

“The contest can now begin.“ The Council Elder announced 

Jamie cantered herself and went into a fighting stance.  She had one leg behind the other other and her arms up close to her body. Her hands were in a fist position ready to strike when the need arises. “Always keep calm In a fight princess, anger leads to mistakes”. A unknown voice ran through her mind.

Elsie screamed “ I going to make you pay b***h” and ran straight at Jamie. Stupid move Jamie thought as she gave a swift punch to the nose, followed by an upper cut. Jamie heard a crack as Elsie’s nose break as blood poured from her nose. “Good Princess! If an enemy can’t breath, they can’t fight”. The voice in Jamie’s mind said.

Elsie quickly recovered and went in for a side kick to the head. Jamie caught the leg and pulled it. Elsie feel on her back. Jamie did an axe chop on the inside leg.  Elsie screamed in pain “ you f*****g b***h!”

“You started this“ Jamie Said coolly 

“I am going to finish it! You might be a good little fighter, but I will always win because I can shift! I am going to tear you apart!“ Elsie screamed 

“Will you just shut the f**k up and get on with it!” Jamie said, trying to get Elsie even more angry. Elsie screamed in rage and shifted into a light blond wolf with black eyes. The wolf stared at Jamie and launched itself. Jamie quickly went down on her knees and bent backward, the she wolf jumped straight over her. Jamie righted herself quickly and face her opponent.  The light blond wolf was growling, showing all of it’s large teeth whilst circling Jamie.

“Come on I getting bored now” Fluff complained.

“This is actually harder then it looks Fluff“ snapped Jamie 

“Yeah right!”Scoffed Fluff

The blonde wolf snared and lunged at Jamie snapping it’s jaws. Jamie punched as hard as she could in the middle of the wolf’s head. It was stunned for a few seconds and Jamie took the opportunity to shift into her silver wolf form. There was gasp of suprise from the spectators, she heard Sam say “Hold on a f*****g minute she can shift into a wolf? A sliver f*****g wolf at that? f*****g chaos!”

Jamie launched herself at the She wolf and bite her neck. Elsie wolf managed to throw Jamie off, but not without Jamie ripping some skin off. Elsie’s wolf howled in pain.  Jamie went in for another attack and Elsie’s wolf managed to bite Jamie leaving a wound. However, Jamie clamper her jaws on the Blonde wolf’s front right leg. She felt bones break in her jaw, she shook her head for good measure. Jamie eventually released the leg when she was satisfied it was incapacitated.  Jamie backed off to view her opponent. Elsie’s wolf was bleeding badly and was unable to walk on all fours.  

Elsie’s wolf suddenly launched herself In a desperate attack and landed on Jamie’s back. Her Jaws clamped down on the back of Jamie’s neck. It was Jamie’s turn to howl in pain. “ f**k this s**t!”  she thought and Shifted into  A silver a Werebear. With the extra strength of a bear Jamie flung Elise’s wolf into the barrier. Jamie Got up on two legs and roared a challenge At the wolf.

The wolf wimpered and bowed its head in surrender.

”Elsie of the Gold moon pack can I confirm that you surrender?” The council elder’s voice boomed.

The wolf nodded. “ I can confirm that Jamie of the Wolf moon pack is the winner!”Announced the council elder. A cheer erupted from the spectators 

“No! She cheated! She shifted into a wolf and a bear!” Shouted Raoul’s Mother.

“The rules say shifting, it does not say shifting into what. Therefore, it is allowed.” The council Elder said

The Barrier was brought down and Jamie went over to a bush and shifted back into her human form. Bella brought her some clothes to put on. “You were amazing! “ Bella gushed.  Jamie blushed deeply as she came out from behind the bush and stood next to sam.

“ As acting Alpha I formally request that you now leave Wolf moon pack property.” Sam said firmly to the Elsie who had also shifted back into a human standing next to Raoul’s Mother.

“How dare you tell me to get off Wolf moon pack property!”  Snapped Roaul’s Mother. 

“We don’t take orders from a mutt like you! “ Elsie spat. Just at that moment Jamie saw a golden shimmer in Elsie’s hand that turned into a throwing knife. Elsie quickly launched the knife at Sam’s heart, without thinking Jamie pushed sam out of the way and she felt a burning sensation in her shoulder. She looked down and saw a sliver knife sticking out. Jamie collapsed on the floor in pain.

Bella screeched and rushed to Jamie’s side with Dion. Jamie felt the searing pain start to work Through her body. “Just keep breathing Jamie” Dion said calmly as he started to recite a healing spell

Sam shouted “Get them both now and take them to the royal dungeons” To his guards. The Guards wasted no time securing and removing the two she wolves.

“It..it feels strange” Jamie said feeling stupid at her comment.

“There is  poison on the blade. That was an incredibly stupid thing to do” Fluff said softly.

“Kitten, kitten stay with us....please for Raoul” Sam said with tears in his eyes.

Jamie fell into a familiar darkness as she lost consciousness. “Dion is she going to be ok?” Sam asked frantically 

“You need to get Raoul back here now! “ Dion shouted
