My Accidental Luna

Chapter 10

Barrett's POV

Of course, we cannot have a decent time out. Holden was way too excited to be fighting. As we made our way to the dance floor, I mind linked Holden and Sam. "Don't go doing anything stupid, we just get this guy to back off and get the girls out. Sam, you get Adaline behind you with Heather, Holden, you will be next to me, understand?" "Come on man, that guy is disrespecting the Beta Female and our future Luna" Holden said back, "I don't care that's an order." I radiated my alpha aura. "Yes Alpha" they said back in unison. I hated having to use my aura on them, but I'm not willing to get anyone hurt tonight. The crowd parted since I was the highest ranking wolf here. They did not want to be in my way.

We reached the girls. Adaline looked to be trying to coax Heather into putting the guy down. We made eye contact for a brief second before I grabbed her and placed her behind Sam. I saw the murder in Heather's eyes because someone disrespected her Luna. I again had to release my aura. "Heather get Adaline out of here now, I don't want her to see this." I was seeing red at this point and Shaw was howling in my head. "He touched my mate! He touched what is MINE, what is OURS!" He was absolutely livid. Heather dropped the guy and bowed, she got to Adaline and started taking her to the door. "This is going to be fun" I heard Holden shout out, he was ready to kill. I wanted to avoid any fights tonight. That all changed, though, when the wolf said very snarky "all this over a stupid human w***e, what is she to everyone damn?."

The roar that released from my chest even surprised me. " DON'T YOU DARE EVER TOUCH WHAT IS MINE AGAIN" Sam was right next to me now as the two men behind this wolf squared up for a fight. The wolf looked shocked and fought the bow but, that did not stop one of his buddies who lunged at Holden but was not quick enough. Holden had started throwing punches left and right into this guy's face. He was down in seconds. Sam took on the other and had him down as the main guy came at me. I got in a few good swings before I felt a sharp searing pain in my side. I looked down to see the guys' claws dug into my side but saw something dripping from them. I looked back at the guys' face shock showing on mine and all I could get out was s**t. Shaw whimpered in head "wolfsbane", then retreated. The next moment, I saw Holden take the guy down and I blacked out. I heard my guys shouting my name.

It was a weird sensation. We all know wolfsbane is dangerous to us, but it is not deadly. However, what we learn in school about it is that it basically knocks us out and, once in our systems, our wolves retreat, making it harder to heal quickly and can become deadly depending on the wound. I felt the electricity around my torso and forehead but I could not move, see or speak. Based on the electricity, I knew Adaline was right there next to me and most likely trying to wake me up. I felt the pain in my side lessen, we must be at Rebeckas getting help. I'm surprised Sam allowed it, but knowing Adaline, she probably didn't give him a chance to say no. I felt myself get lifted up and moved around, I was lowered down and my mouth was forced open. They were giving me something I just didn't know what.

I then felt like I began to fall. What the hell is happening to me? I landed in a clearing. As I looked around I only noticed a large willow tree with a boulder next to it. Both sat by a large pond. "Barrett", I heard. The voice sounded sweet but had a frustrated tone to it. I got in a defensive position until I saw her. A tall pale woman with long silver hair and eyes piercing blue. I fell to my knees and bowed my head." No child, don't do that, please stand" she spoke sweeter this time. I looked up at her and she smiled and nodded her head. As I began to stand, I asked " Mood Goddess, if you are here, does that mean I did not make it. Did they kill me?" She giggled "Please call me Selene. That is my name and no, you are not dead. You were badly hurt but your mate brought you to the witch and she got to work quick enough to get you into this state to heal" she paused "however I took this opportunity to come to you to speak with you about a few things." Oh no she is definitely mad at me "Are you going to yell at me for the way I have been and for not wanting to accept a mate?" She stood silent looking at me.

"Well, for one, yes and no. Yes, because you know your mate is a gift from me and a half to make you a whole. No because four years ago, when you got your wolf, Adaline was not ready. From a young age, I planted New York all around her to guide her to you. She always said she was getting out of her small town and would move to New York. However, she met Sebastian in her teen years and I am not one to meddle in love lives, as you know, since you have been all but innocent", I looked down blushing, but also in shame. " She seemed happy and then, fell pregnant, so I planned on finding you an eligible second chance mate when tragedy struck her." She was crying at this point but continued " She was already in New York so I decided to let the bond take it's course, she was already with the witch and believed in the supernatural as they call it so I knew she would accept you with little hesitation. She deserves happiness and love from her true mate." She was glaring at me at this point. " I know, not having my mate right away at 18 turned me away from the idea that I felt I could do it alone and did not want to travel to find her", it was the truth, " I felt betrayed a bit since I never found her when I was wiling to so I was hurt and put off. I whimpered thinking back to the heart ache at 18.

"Do you feel that?" Selene was smiling now, my arms began to feel the electricity on my head and then my arms. "Adaline?" she nodded. "Yes she is right by you she knows you are hurt and upset. She has already noticed her touch calms you down. I'm going to send you back to do the right thing here, Barrett, but I do have to warn you. The pack will accept their Luna but there is war coming because of this, so be prepared. With your mate and the bond intact, you are at your strongest. Remember that". Then she was gone and I was back in the darkness. I wanted to wake up and see Adaline, I need to hold her to be with her, but I couldn't. I can not get my eyes to open. I felt electricity all over my arms and torso at this point, so my mind calmed and I started to finally rest and heal.
