Chapter 36

Adaline's POV

After the pain subsided, I was thrust back to visions of my life. It was times I was playing and wandering around the Lotus pack I remember playing with a young Rachel. My parents were sitting on a bench with Oliver and Emily. They were discussing strategies and holidays. Those were two very different topics but apparently had to be talked about together. I must have been around 13 so probably only a little bit before the attacks. I was then walking towards the warrior training field with my dad. They were doing intense training. The guys losing looked in a lot of pain but kept getting back up. "ha we could take them easily." I rolled my eyes "Selena, we can't even shift. How could we beat grown wolves?" She scoffed "I told you we are special, we definitely can win!" I stood there stunned. I could hear little me's conversation with my wolf and I had no memory of being able to speak with her. "Selena, don't even think about it, you are not ready nor are you old enough." My father was scolding me, I looked up at him, my eyes glowing purple, then stuck my tongue out at him. He knelt down "hey now" he chuckled while snatching my tongue for a moment. "I know when you are old enough you will be stronger than half these men combined, but please just be a kid for now, soon you will be out there training and probably running the program." He opened his arms up and I lunged into them "okay daddy." I was tearing up, how I missed them so much.

My grandparents and mother were making their way down to us "come on let's get out to the playground so you can run and play." I rolled my eyes at my nana "I am 13, I dont play anymore." She laughed, oh I missed her laugh, "let's go little fighter." Next thing I know I am watching myself practice sparing with my dad and some other kids and the alarms start blaring. "No, no I don't want to be here for this, please no." I was running towards them crying. "Jospeh, get her to the wood line." My nana was urgently pushing us towards the trees. "Don't worry I am sure it is nothing but you never know." She kissed my papa and then my head "go now." We pushed behind some trees. I watched her turn to a horrendous site of 15 wolves fighting my parents. My mother, a beautiful black wolf, was taking on three at a time and my father, a really light gray, fighting one to get to her. My nana shifted to a beautiful chocolate brown wolf and charged the two, coming towards them. I watched and as one lunged at my dad and tore his throat out, he dropped my mother's wolf howled and turned to see my father. I tried to scream to help them but it was like my voice had left me. One attacked her from behind and did the same to her. My nana was howling in pain. I saw my papa fighting to keep me from seeing but also heartbroken about what he was seeing. Then my nana was taken. 20 wolves came charging in from the training field and took out most of the rouges while two ran off. I then felt like I was being pulled and the images around me were changing.

I was now standing in a clearing by a large willow tree and pond. It was night time or so it seemed. I looked to my right and saw a beautiful white wolf with a small silver creascent moon through her right eye. "Selena" I gasped, she nudged me with her nose and I scratched her head, "did I die is that why I am here with you." She just looked towards the willow tree and started walking there. She laid down under it. "No child, you are not dead, you and your wolf just need to rest." I jumped as an enchanting woman walked out behind the tree, she was in a floor-length light blue dress with long silver-white hair and gorgeous blue eyes. I tilted my head at her, she seemed familiar. "Yes, we met once before after your parents and grandmother were killed." My eyes grew as wide as saucers. "Your the Moon Goddess Selene, right?" She smiled and me and nodded "Your life was not supposed to go this way and I am truly sorry for all you have been through, however I am not to meddle in the lives of my children. I did once to keep you safe, but it was at the cost of more heartache." She was now sitting by Selena petting her. "There is still more to come but you need to trust and it will all work out. I know its hard to believe, but this time will be different."

"There is also something I am not really supposed to do but Selena convinced me it was necessary and I agreed." She smiled as she looked behind me. I turned around and lost all control. I was crying uncontrollably. I could not believe that my parents and Nana were standing there. "Oh baby don't cry". My mom was holding me on the ground, smoothing my hair back. I felt more arms around me now. "We are okay, we promise, we are in paradise and watching over you, we are so proud of the woman you have become." My father was trying to calm me. "Yes and we would not change anything, we would protect you over and over again no matter the cost." My nana grabbed my face to make me look at her. "You are the most special being in the world and we will forever protect you, you are the strongest woman and mom. You will make the strongest luna in history, although you should be alpha, but I guess I will let that slide." I couldnt help but giggle at her. "I miss you guys so much and it hurts that James. doesnt get to meet or know you." My parents smiled "honey he knows us he just thinks his dreams. are that, dreams." I sat there shocked "you have visited him but not me?" I was a little upset at this, "We weren't allowed to, the plan was set and we couldnt mettle in it." My father was stern with this. "Yes he is right I forbid them as it could have altered everthing." Selene was walking to us now. "Adaline it is time to go though you need to get back, you need to train and you need to be ready for whats to come." I shook my head "I am not ready I gripped my parents tighter. "Yes you are" they all said in unison. "It's not goodbye my love it is see you later." My parents kissed my cheeks and my Nana squeezed me tight, Selena was next to me again. The scene around me became dark again.

"Hello?" I screamed and it was just echoing. "Ouch, that hurts, don't yell so loud please." Selena? Then I heard the faint beep, beep, beep of machines. "Its time to wake up Ad, we have a lot to do." I still don't think I am ready. "mommy," James, oh my baby "can you wake up from your nap now please. I want you too. I miss you." Oh my sweet boy. "Open your eyes." I cant it hurts too much I thought to her then I felt spark near me "come on baby we are right here, just open your eyes please." I felt electricity on my forehead "okay I am going to lend you some will power but you owe me." It seemed like I was looking though my eyes but more distanct "your looking through my vision." That is so weird! "Momma!" James squeeled and hugged me tight. "Hi my baby."
