At first, she thought that it was all hoax. But now, she believes the woman, the Luna, and the Moon Goddess they were talking about.
Who is going to think that the Goddess will help her? Maybe, not only her grandfather who helped her that night. Maybe it was not her faith to die, yet.
Maybe she was destined to fulfill the wish of the Goddess.
“Can you pull me up? I have something to tell and to give to you.” The girl frowned when she said it. “I know, we don't know each other. But someone talked to me and wanted me to give you this,” she said.
With her enhanced hearing, she heard them talking to each other and deciding what they were going to do. Then the same girl looked down at her.
“But you are a Lycan. Lycan betrayed us and killed my family.” Hatred and sorrow were visible in her eyes. Angelique felt sympathy for the girl. She felt the same way as her but she can not say that.
“What’s Lycan?" Instead, she said.
“What? You don't know your own species?" A boy looked down too. He never believed what she said.
“Yeah. Actually, I just turned the other night. So, I don’t know." She shrugged after saying it.
The kids looked at each other. They could tell that she was saying the truth. She never saw her before, and they knew if she's one of them, she was already killed because of her weight. They knew how the Lycans Alpha ruled them.
“Okay, we believe you,” the girl said.
“But you have yourself to climb up. You’re so big for us to pull.” The boy smirked. Angelique didn't know if it was a challenge or he was telling the truth.
She sighed. She forgot that she can climb up if she wanted. She cleaned their waterwheel every three months because no one was going to clean it. She could climb up even without using some rope. Even with her fat, she can carry her body because that's how strong she is.
The pit was small, she could easily climb up.
She started to climb up while the kids were looking at her. They were amazed by how skillful she was in climbing a pit like that, which made it impossible for anyone to climb up. You will easily slip down because the soil was wet, but it never happened to Angelique, even though she was fat.
“You’re so good with it,” the girl said, full of amazement. It was her fourth time that she was amazed at something. First, her father next is her mother, then her older sister, and now the nameless woman, who accidentally fell down on their trap.
“How did you do that?" a boy said.
Angelique saw three girls and two boys when they finally pulled herself up. The boy who talked was around seven years old with golden brown skin, oval shape face, black hair, brown eyes, and around three feet tall.
The two kids looked alike, a girl and a boy, with their black hair and almond brown skin. Angelique assumed they are siblings. While the other one has darker skin than the siblings and screams submission.
The only one who really amazed her was the girl that stood as their leader. She assumed she's the Alpha and Luna’s daughter that she was supposed to meet, and they did. She’s tall for her age, taller than the boy, blonde hair, a heart-shaped face, almond-shaped brown eyes, and has vanilla skin. Angelique knew she will be a beautiful girl when she grows up and maybe hard to handle.
“Who are you?” the beautiful girl asked her again.
She sat down on the trunk of the fallen tree and caught her breath first. When she was fine, she answers her.
Without any emotions, she looked at them and tell them the truth, but only with simple words. From how they were killed and she survived, she even mentioned that he is her father. They sympathize with each other.
“And what is the thing you are talking about a while ago?” the boy broke in.
“Here,” she showed them the necklace but never gave it to her. “I forgot that I can not give it to you, yet. I made a promise to your mom but I was so excited when I saw you.”
“It’s Luna’s stone. But how do you get that?” The girl walked to her and asked if she could touch the necklace. Angelique let her.
“Your mother showed up to me last night, after…” she didn't know if she will tell them.
“After?” she asked her as the tears fell on her cheeks. She knew they were already dead but she still wanted to hear it.
“After they were thrown into the pit. I covered them and at least I gave them a small prayer,” she said.
The five kids teared up when they heard it. For sure, some of them were their friends and family of their friends.
Angelique observed the kids as they cried. She didn't know how to comfort them so she let them cry until they got tired.
The kids wore dirty clothes that she couldn’t clearly see what was but she believed it was pajamas. She assumed that they were sleeping when they were under attack. She felt sorry for them. They are just kids that still have many dreams to achieve. But her greedy father was the cause why it all crashed down.
“Ho-how did you see my mom?” the small girl asked her.
“After I covered them all, she just appeared in front of me. Of course, a ghost. She told me something that only I can know. But she gave me these two necklace, one for you and one for my mate. She said that I will give it to you on your eighteenth. So, sorry if I can not give it to you.” She relayed the message briefly as she could.
“I understand,” she said, then she looked at her companion. “I am Kimberly and this is Clark,” Kimberly pointed to the boy who talked a while ago, “the siblings were Kevin and Hanzel.” Angelique looked at them then at the small girl. “She's Pink.” She nodded.
“I am Angelique,” she introduced herself. The kids smiled at her but she could not return it.
“It’s already dark. Where are you going?” the boy asked as he walked towards her.
“For now, a place to sleep that is safe. Then tomorrow morning, I will look again for a place that I can call home.” They looked at one another then nodded. She does not have a pack, and she doesn't know where she belongs. It’s good if she made her own house somewhere.
“You can stay with us, for a night.” They all nodded agreeing to what their leader had decided.
“Thank you!” she said then she followed them to somewhere. Angelique believes that they were all good kids and won't trick her. They were properly educated by their pack.
Later, they arrived on a small clearing but surrounded by tall grass and trees. No one will notice them if they hide on the grass.
“Why did you stay here?" she curiously asked them.
“We are waiting for our family to find us. I know, my father will find us.” For the first time, Kevin talked. He is proud of her father as he said it.
“Okay,” that’s all she said as she sat down along with them.
But at the same time, the stomach of Pink growled. She was hungry and so pitiful.
Angelique signed and opened her sack. She has a lot of fruit, and some of them will be rotten when not eaten. She took some of them and put some on the center.
“This is the only food I have,” she looked at them, “let's eat. Don't be shy.”
Without any shyness, they took some and started to eat. They also eat fruit, but not enough since they are all werewolves. But it was enough to stop the growling of their stomach.
Angelique felt that something towards these kids. But she could force them to accept her. She knew, they just let her come but they still were not warm to her. They were still conscious of her every move.
After eating, they all decided to sleep. Angelique felt tired for a long day of walking and no sleep. She was still sleepy, so she fell asleep quickly.
They just let her sleep as the kids made a schedule of who will guard them. First, Hanzel, next Clark, then Kimberly, and last is Kevin. They have an hour or so before they will swap.
They followed what they agreed. Until the next morning, the sun was rising beautifully, Angelique woke up and all of them were peacefully sleeping.
She looked at them.
The Luna said she will live with her youngest, Kimberly. But she knew they will never leave her. She will wait for her sister.
She fixed her belongings and looked at them for the last time and walked away. She signed as she walked, not knowing why but she felt uncomfortable imagining that they were left behind.
However, she will turn back and walk back but she stopped herself. She continued her journey to look for a place.
But her conscience is not giving up.
“F*ck!” she cursed and ran back to where they are.
When she got there, her eyes got bigger when she saw how the kids were strangled to escape. They were found out and being caught.
Angelique blood’s boiled with anger. She needed to do anything to help them.
She looked everywhere for a thing she can use. She saw big rocks that made her smirk. She was great at throwing big rocks because, on their farm, she did it.
There are five of them and they are hard to defeat. Stones were the best weapon she could use.
With her strength, she threw rocks at the enemy. She made sure it was precise and they will hit them. When they are hit, they pass out eventually.
It was so hilarious when the remaining one of them started to look for her, nervously. He was way bigger than the others and like he had a higher rank on their back, the Lycans.
“Who are you? Show yourself!” he demanded and covered himself with Kimberly. Angelique got furious because of it, specifically when she saw that the small girl flinched.
“Let go of her,” she said with a deep voice.
The kids just looked around while they all sat on the ground. They knew the voice even though she tried to make it bigger. They were all tied up and couldn't move, so they couldn't protect Kimberly and relied upon their rescuer.
He tried to sniff her, to know where she is. But she couldn't find her because of the sap that was still on her body.
Angelique got tired of this, of him hurting the small girl. So she came out, then a small stone hit the guy’s hand that made him drop his weapon. Angelique fastly threw another stone, a bigger one, then it hit the guy on its forehead and he fell down, unconscious.
Kimberly cried and ran to Angelique. She felt relieved when she saw Angelique and the guy let go of her. But she was afraid a while ago. When she got to Angelique, she hugged her to comfort her. It will take a long time and she needs to untie the rest before the enemies wake up. So she held her and tried to untie them and she easily does it.
“Please, don't leave us. We will come with you,” Kimberly whispered.
“I thought you want to stay?" she asked her, making sure of their decision.
“I want to. But I still need to make them safe.” She looked at her friends.
“Please!” they all said as Angelique was still thinking.
Angelique didn't have a choice but to agree with them, so she nodded. Maybe it was really destined for them to live together, just like what the Luna had said.
“Let's go," she said, not staying too long because the unconscious Lycan might wake up.
They all walked in the opposite direction of their pack. The kids knew that they were walking away from their pack, but they didn't have any choice.
Until they all walked to an intersection road. She didn't know what road they would take. Where it is safe and they can live.
They all stopped and waited for Angelique. Until she pointed on the forest, under the territory of another pack. The kids didn't know what to say, especially when Angelique started to walk to the said forest.
