Chapter 14

“So, you still know me even though I took all the cosmetics I put on my face whenever I met you?” The guy was amused that the little girl she knew was still here.  “Yeah. You always buy from our store and I became friends with you, Uncle Conor. Also, I saw you in the past.” Angelique looked up. “You are my grandfather’s Beta.” He is Conor Lucroy.  It didn't surprise him anymore. Lycans have the tendency to see the past when they’re under a delusional stage of dying. He was just happy that she was alive.  “You are right. I am happy that you are alive,” he said with a smile on his face.  They were walking out of the border. Conor knew the way around here so it was easy and safe. They can talk while walking.  “Yeah. I'm alive but it paid a price.” She looked straight, not really looking at anything. “It took my grandfather's life.” To what she said, they were both silents. Conor couldn't believe what he heard. But it is not possible if you sacrifice yourself in exchange for the life of someone. And his former Alpha chose to help her granddaughter. He will just respect it and help him with his plan. He knew, he did it for them all. He is a kind Alpha, that is why people who knew him looked up to him. Until his own son kicked him out.   “Maybe he had his own reason. Let's just be thankful,” he said but inside he was sad too. He stood as his father before, and he was in debt with him.  “Before he died, he asked me to stop his son.” From what she said, Conor understood what she meant.  “I will help you. I know a thing or two, to help you improve in many aspects,” he said. He looked at Angelique and he saw how she was changing. She was not the young girl that he loved to play with anymore.  Angelique was pleased to hear it.  “So, why did you always go to our store?” she asked not to take any glance at him. They kept on walking to the thick forest.  The place was quiet and it was still early. Birds were chirping, animals playing around, and the fresh air was blowing into their face. They didn't run because they wanted to take their time to have some talk.  “Your grandfather asked me to do it. It was my mission to look after you. But it seems your father sneaked under my watch. I am sorry!” He really was sorry. But for Angelique, it was already in the past and what happened really was not his fault. It was her sperm donor.  “It’s fine. Even if you are there, for sure, he will kill you." She’s right. Lucio won’t feel sorry for anyone. All he knows and wants to do is to kill.  “I looked for you when we couldn't find your body. I strongly believe that you were alive, and I am right all along. Especially when I went to the former Alpha’s house. Your scent still lingers there, even if it was faint, it was still there. I was the best tracker of my time, so I used it to follow your trail. A little hard but I managed to locate you. I just need to be observant to where you walked through since you really hide your scent.” He smiled because he felt he did the right thing to track her. “But I thought, your grandfather is with you. I didn't expect that the tomb I saw was him.” He sighed.  He kowtowed to the grave, and he did the right thing. He gave respect to his former Alpha, his godfather.  “Can I know about that?” she asked. He smiled because he liked where their conversation was getting on. “Sure. I will teach you everything I know, even in fighting. You need it in the future.” She nodded. He was right, that she needs it when the time comes that she will face her sperm donor. She should be ready at that time.  She needed to grow. Not just by age, but by physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.  “Where did you live when you were in Guslar?” she got back to their topic about Conor.  Conor didn't answer her when they were near the border or the forest line. He pointed to his left. They need to walk on the small road and do not walk to private property.  “I obtained some property while living here. First, I worked on the farm but the wage was so small. Not enough reason for me to buy from your store, and know you better.  So, I brought some gold and exchanged it for money. That's where I took my wealth. I have a farm to run too. But my son is the one who was running it now.” When she heard he had a son, she was relieved to know that he was not alone. At least… “You have a family?” They stopped when they were already at an intersection. They never thought they already walked too far.  “My wife died giving birth to him. But at least, she gave me something that I can treasure with.” She nodded. “So, what’s the reason why you were here?” he asked while texting on his cellphone. He was asking his driver to fetch them.  “Exchange this too. You might help me?” She showed him the small pieces of gold.  Conor smiled because he knew what to do. “Leave it to me." She really left it to Conor to handle. He is an influential man, he can do it.  Later, a car stopped in front of them. Conor opened the door for Angelique. She never said but climbed into the car and sat in the backseat. Conor turned around and sat down on the backseat.  The car was screaming luxury, and it amazed Angelique. She knew she could buy many things with this. She can give the needs of the pack they belong to now.  “You're really wealthy.” “Not really. But I started in fisheries, then I cultivated more on animal's meat,” he said like it was nothing. “My son is richer. He developed a company at fifteen with just half a million investment. Werewolves are genius people, so it was a piece of cake for him.”  He was right. Werewolves have a fast processing brain that really helped them.  The journey continued and she admired the road especially when they entered a big gate. She was amazed by the spacious place. It was really for rich people.  “My friend is already here. He will be the one to handle this piece of gold.” She nodded again because she didn't know what to do with it. She was thankful that she saw Uncle Conor. He was really big help.  It never took long, the negotiation was finished and Angelique received a big amount of money. She could use it to develop their place. But for now, she needed food and clothes.  “Uncle, can you accompany me? I will buy some supplies. From food, clothes, tools, and seeds for us to plant.” Conor nodded and asked for their driver to bring the bigger car. They will buy many things and they need big transport.  The city they were in was not the same city she grew up in. It is more civilized and rich. The building was so big and had many working opportunities. This is the city Susan wanted to work in before.  In no time, they arrived at a market. Conor brought her to the market because she can buy bulk of every food than to the small stock of the mall. It was more convenient for Angelique since she knew the cycle of the market.  Conor led her first in the clothes section. Conor went to the male section while Angelique for the female and kids section. They parted the task for them to finish early. They didn't think how many they were, they almost brought the whole store. The salesman helped them to put all the clothes in their car.  Next, they went to the tools for farming. They also brought some fertilizer and a water pump for easy access to water. They needed it to water their farms. They brought the needed, including the seeds and seedlings.  They also put it inside the car. Their car has a big space on the back where they can put their things.  Then, they went to buy food. The White Fang Pack members were also malnourished, so they brought food good for them and some sweets popular to Guslar. They also bought some medicine and vitamins. They bought many things, but Angelique knew it won’t last. She had a gut feeling that many more werewolves will seek refuge in them.  “This is all?” Conor asked as he closed the door.  “Yeah, for now.” The guy nodded and signed the driver that they will go.  They both climbed up the car and were seated. They had already eaten something before they agreed on leaving the place.  While on their way, Angelique talked to Kimberly through a mind link. Maybe it was hard to form connections between two different races but for them, it was so easy. Like it was really meant to be.  “Kim, tell them to wait for us on the river. Be careful.” She waited for Kimberly's response.  “Okay. They will come.”  It was already dark, so no one would see them if they ran, except for the werewolf. She’s a werewolf, so she saw a signboard saying, house and lot: for sale. Angelique got an idea but never said it first. She needed to plan it all first before she told them.  In a few minutes, they were back at the border. With the help of the driver, they put all the things they brought on the soil. The driver didn't say anything and got back to the mansion. That was what his employer said to him, so he followed.  When they were sure that no one would see them. They lifted a few sacks of product they brought and ready to run to where they will be waiting.  But before they could go, a group of men walked out of the forest. Angelique quickly knew who they were.  “Please, carry some of them." They all nodded and carried things they could. All the products were carried, so they ran back home.  The guy didn't question Angelique and why Conor was with them. They trust her.  They just ran. There's no problem on the way so they arrived on the Central in just five minutes.  They were all amazed when Angelique ran with them. Even with her body, she can run fast. Unbelievable but it was true.  They didn't know that Angelique was used to this. It was just her body won't reduce her weight.  Angelique saw the kids. They all smiled and squealed, ran, and clanged to her. They really missed her.  “I brought some clothes to all of you. Just take what is enough and give everyone their share,” she told them and raffled their hairs. They all nodded and joined on opening the sacks.  They were all happy with what was on the sack. Some are equipment they didn't know how to use, so they frowned.  “Those you do not know how to use, just put it in the stockroom. Same with other food. Just took enough for tonight." Serio came out from nowhere and told them.  They all followed him and arranged what Angelique was brought.  The old man approached Angelique with a gentle smile on his face. Angelique felt happy when they were all happy. Even though she didn't smile, she was happy.  “Thank you for this,” Serio said to her.  “I just bought the things, but it was your gold all along." She defended.  “Still. It will be a big help for us." She just nodded because the old man won't leave her.  “There's still money in me,” she said and looked at the old man. “I want to use it for our fence. We are small and an easy Pack to attack. A fence can stop them for the meantime.”  “You are right. Just do what is best for us. We will let you decide on the expenses. We will list down all the things we needed.”  Serio believed it was the change they needed. This is the chance given to them by the Moon Goddess.  A new life.
