Nuru's POV
Staying at the palace became unbearable after a short while. My skin felt itchy; all the scents were wrong, and I could barely sleep, leading me to go to the cabin earlier than I had planned.
The trip had been strained, as just being in close quarters with Adrian had Lyra growling. While Adrian and I had tried to see each other as partners, our wolves did not. I had not even seen his wolf the whole time we had been together.
"You don't want me to stay?" Adrian asked for the last time as he tried to catch my eyes through the driver's mirror.
I just shook my head.
"The cabin is right ahead. It's stocked up. You have my number in case of anything," he said.
