ch 4 Darla and Dave

1364 Words
as Emma walked away her parents looked at each other in disbelief. how could this be happening? they saved her from that life and made sure they did everything to keep her from that life. they emersed her into the human world to protect her. they had long since suppressed her from shifting or even talking to her wolf. by now even her scent had dulled and become almost human. this was not what they wanted for her. Darla was the first to talk. " what do we do? we took her from that life to protect her! now what? you know these dreams won't just go away!" she looked pleading at her husband. Dave looked away from his wife. " we can't tell her now. If we wait long enough her wolf will go away and it would be like she was never there. that's what we decided on when we got married. that's what we are sticking too!" He put his fist down on the table an act he had never done before. Fear creeped up his spine. He refused to allow Emma to know about that life. " I allowed you all those years ago to talk me into silence. I allowed you to take her heritage away from her. Everything she is because you were afraid of her. You were afraid of me!" Her mother regained her composure as her daughter walked out the door with a goodbye on her way to school. as soon as they were in the clear she looked back down at her husband in pitty of their mistakes. " she deserves to know who she is and where she came from. I can't allow your fear of us to keep her from it any longer." she looked out the window in their tiny kitchen before looking back at Dave with sadness. " if you are still afraid of me even now,...." she paused before finishing her sentence having to convince herself of what she was about to say, " then we will leave and head back to the pack lands so Emma can learn who she really is and how to control her wolf. she deserves to know the truth." Darla gathered the dishes and started washing them as she waited for that to sink in. " you can't do this! you promised." " you raised her. she is a beautiful woman now. She needs to know. She is the last born white wolf David. she needs to know what that means and who she is! Her father died a long time ago. she will always look at you as her father but it is time we allow her to train. to control her wolf. if we don't then what good are we? she needs to set her wolf free and we need to allow her the freedom to do it" Darla walked out of the kitchen picked up her bag and left through the same door Emma had left. Dave sat there in silence. he knew what she was saying was true. he was afraid of losing Emma. Afraid of Emma hating him and not seeing him as her father. He loved her too much to lose her but now he might because of so many years of the lies he forced his wife to tell. he needed his family. They were his life. Darla drove for a while. soon the city sky scrapers turned into flat lands and the tree line dotted the horizon. she had heard of a pack out here and she hoped they could help her daughter. Emma needed to know who she was and where she came from. It was her last hope for her daughter before she lost her wolf. once she drove to the trees she drove a little ways in before stopping at a gate. Guards came up tapping on her window as she bowed her head out of respect and submission. she rolled her window down and addressed the men before her. " I am Darla of the Royal white wolf pack. I have come to seek help from your alpha." the men gazed in admiration and shock before linking to their beta and alpha. The men had heard legends of the royal white wolf pack but had never actually seen one. They were rumored to have been massacred a century ago. No one really knew if any had escaped the wrath. Now here she was seeking help. Once they were given permission to allow her in they waved her in with a bow. She being royalty meant she out ranked all of them. Darla made her way down a long dirt road. until she made it to the pack house. men were standing there bowing in submission. Her eyes flashed a golden yellow as she showed them her inner wolf. Darla felt a surge of life as she finally allowed her wolf to come to the surface. It had been far too long and she missed her wolf. the men parted and gave her a path to the door. it had been a long time since she was given the royal treatment and she wasn't even sure what to do anymore. she nodded at them and continued to walk through the doors into the pack house. A tall proud man stood inside and bowed to her. " I am alpha Lawrence of the silver Lake pack. your majesty to what do I owe this miraculous honor?" " Please call me Darla. no one has called me your that for almost a century." she looked at the alpha with a sense that she could trust this man. she knew she could trust him with her daughters life. " Alpha Lawrence. if I may cut to the chase?" He nodded at her and she continued. " I need your help. it is a matter of life or death for my daughter and she is the last born of our kind." he looked at her in complete shock. " you.... you have a daughter? she survived?" He was trying to take in everything she was saying. " yes. " she looked around and then back at him. " I'm ashamed to say she has no clue who or what she is. she has been having dreams of her wolf and she needs to find her wolf soon or her wolf will be lost to her forever..... " she took a deep breath before continuing. " please don't judge me for what I have hidden her from. I barely got out alive with her. Her father lost his life saving us. I took her and ran and hid among the humans. I met a man.... " she cleared her throat. " a human man and out of fear of the danger we chose to hide her from wolves. I need you to help my Emma......" the look alpha Lawrence gave was confusion and shock. " did you say Emma?" He waited for her to respond. " yes alpha. Emma is my daughter. she goes to college and turned eighteen months ago. she will be nineteen soon and I am afraid if you don't help her find her wolf she will be lost. can you help me?" Darla pleaded with the man in front of her. he still looked confused and shocked. so many answers came flooding to him right then. " your daughter Emma is my son alpha Colin's mate. this answers so many questions. it was like he could smell her wolf but it was so faint he was second guessing himself. Bring her here at once. we will need to start her training right away or the danger that sought her then she will be defenseless against when it comes for her again. " The two bowed at each other and Darla walked away to head back to the city to collect her daughter. this was the only way she knew how to protect Emma. She glanced back at the alpha in the door way before pulling away. " Alpha Lawrence, Emma has no clue what a mate bond is." and with that she drove away.
