ch. 3 Emma

2370 Words
Emma got to her second class and walked in. she sat in her seat not looking around until she heard him behind her. "damn it!" she heard him curse quietly. she raised an eyebrow. " how am I going to get through this class!" she winced af the thought of this handsome stranger failing. why did it even bother her? she never cared about anyone else before so why this guy? she tapped her pencil on her paper for a few seconds and then leaned back doing the boldest thing she had ever done before. " I can help you study if you want? I'm pretty good at taking notes and I figure it couldn't hurt to have a study buddy with these classes!" Her eyes gazed up at him trying to gage his reaction. what was she thinking? why did she feel the need to invite him into her personal space. what was she going to help him study with since she had never had anyone she studied with before? Emma was on shaky ground. She felt a need to be close to him but why? after he agreed and he gave her his cell to text him she went back to her thoughts diligently trying to take notes in class. Her thoughts kept drifting back to the man sitting behind her. flashes of him kissing her neck and down her shoulder as she straddled him danced in her head as he watched her intently with those ice blue eyes. she imagined his rock hard abs with no shirt on as she ran her hands down his chest to the perfect V shape that hid a treasure. She shook herself out of her day dream just as class was ending. When he had grabbed her wrist to write his cell down she had felt little sparking sensations erupting on her skin and traveled down her spine. She played it off at the time like she didn't feel anything but wondered if he had felt that too. No one had ever had this effect on her senses before. It was so addictive those sparks. the sensation made her wet and even the thought of it now made it worse. Emma didn't have time for this. she told herself to get him out of her thoughts because she worked too hard for too long to give in now. She had decided she wasn't going to text him. It wasn't like he would be sitting next to his phone waiting for her to text. Guys like that can have any number of girls and she was just one of many. She made her way to Lela standing by her car deep in her own thoughts. She hadn't even noticed Lela watching her and reaching out to her wrist to see what was written. "Emma what is this! is this a number?!" Lela looked at her friend in excited shock. She wanted nothing more than to get Emma outside of her books and the confines of her room. " it's just that guys number. he needs help studying and it turns out he is in both of these classes. " Emma tried to play it off like it meant nothing to her. Truth was that Emma wished it did mean something and wished it would be more. " I'm not texting it though. " she got itno the driver seat and set her stuff down. " Ems no! you are texting him back! you can't ditch this guy! you need to text him back!" Emma just rolled her eyes at her friend. Lela reached behind her grabbing Emma's phone and held her wrist. " if you won't I will for you and that's it!" she texted him and waited for a reply. The phone dinged in response and before Emma could grab her phone back Lela responded one more time. " actually Friday I am going to some party on campus with my friend Lela. maybe you will be there?" Emma was dying she had no intentions on actually texting him back. mortified at Lela she took her phone back and placed it away from her bold friend. " omg Lela! I can't believe you did that! what do I do now?!" Lela just shrugged at her friend without a care. " maybe date him? maybe loose the V card? at least get your first kiss in since that hasn't even happened yet! Emma you need to learn to live a little bit." Emma sighed in exasperation. She knew her friend was right but she didn't even know how to talk to most people. " Fine I will for sure go to the party on Friday. I doubt he will come but I will go with you and no complaints." Emma really hoped he would come though. She dropped Lela off at home and made her way back to her apartment. A glimmer of hope that maybe Lela was right and he did like her. In the one day she had barely met him his eyes and chiseled chest haunted her thoughts. " Omg Emma get your crap together! you don't even know him!" she parked in her numbered spot, grabbed her things and made her way to her front door. " hey mom and dad!" she kissed them on the cheek before putting her stuff down on the table. " I'm going to grab something to eat I have a ton of studying to do. these classes are going to be crazy!" Her parents smiled at her. " Em," her mom came to the table where she sat. She looked longingly at her daughter. " honey, I'm worried about you. You spend all this time studying and not a single bit of time with people. " her moms voice was dripping with concern. Emma squeezed the bridge of her nose to stop a headache from coming on. " not you both also!" everyone was ganging up on her today. " you guys I'm fine. I have Lela and once I'm out of school I can mingle more and meet some new people. I am going to a party on Friday with Lela if that makes you feel better?" her mom perked up as her father scowled. " why are you encouraging her to go to a party! she is only eighteen and her studies are much more important than some frat party Darla!" Her dad was irritated at the thought. Her mom didn't back down from his questioning. she never really did as long as Emma could remember her mother never backed down from anything. "David! the girl studies day and night! she eats she studies, she breathes with a book in her hand! she can go to a party and let herself have fun for once and you need to back off her trying to push her to study more." her mother glared at her father with piercing eyes. " you need to lay off of her. there are things in life you can't learn from a book. she needs experiences. Now Emma," she smiled at her daughter, " go clean up and get ready for dinner. you can study later." Her mother went into the kitchen leaving her dad scowling but saying nothing. Emma sat at the table for a few minutes longer. Had she really sacrificed everything in her life just for this? was it worth it? Even if he was interested in her would she be willing to let him in. He had the potential to up end everything she had worked for. All the dances she never went to, the parties with friends, for that matter friends. Only Lela had ever been a true friend. Emma got up in a small daze thinking of everything she had given up for her dream. was it really her dream though? Ever since she could remember her dad had always pushed her to be smarter than everyone else and do better than everyone else. He always pushed her to med school and was so proud to tell everyone. she knew how proud he was of his smart girl. Maybe my mom and Lela were right. Maybe she did need to learn how to live a little. Maybe she needed to learn what fun could be. The only thing Lela didn't know was how to balance that with school and how not to disappoint her father. Emma walked into her bedroom and her phone pinged notifying her of a message. she pulled it out of her bag and looked down at who messaged her. A huge smile crossed her face as she saw it was him replying to her. I would love to come. would your friend and you like to get something to eat first? my friend Zander and Brett are going to the same party. might be fun meeting new people. Emma went into panic mode. did this just turn into a date? she needed to call Lela and figure out what to do!!! she dialed her friend and waited for her to pick up on the other line. " hey girl, what's up?" Lela sounded groggy. It was just like her to take a nap and not even study. " that guy Colin just asked if you and I wanted to get something to eat on Friday with two of his friends before the party!" Emma was freaking out. She had only ever been anywhere with Lela. "what do I say?" " Em you say yes!!! his friends were hot so I am totally down for it!!! " Lela was just the push she needed. " tell him to pick us up at 6 at my place. let's avoid your dad scrutinizing that before it even happens!!" Emma agreed and the girls hung up. Emma let out a sigh as she typed a text out to him. She knew her dad wouldn't like her dating anyone. was it a date though? She decided probably not since it was a group. dates usually happen on a much more intimate level. At least she thought they did. that would be great! pick us up around 6 at Lela house? it's 1340 deer srping road. text me when you are there we will come out. It's a date. did he just say it was a date? no she thought. she was just over analyzing everything because other than Lela and her parents she never had anyone else and she had the hots for him. She definitely couldn't deny that she wanted him bad. She went back out to the kitchen to sit and have dinner with her parents. Her dad's mood was back to normal and my mother was happily eating dinner next to him. she always had a way of calming him down. It was like her mother brought peace to him. After dinner and cleaning up the mess Emma went back to her room to study. After hours of study she finally put her books away and fell into an unrestful sleep. " little Emma," she was in the dark. she couldn't see anything as she tried to adjust her eyes. she thought she saw movement in the corner of the darkness. she turned to see what it was. In the dark a beautiful creature of pure white snow stood before her. She wasn't quite sure what this creature was but she was magnificently beautiful and she spoke to her without even moving her mouth. " little Emma, don't be afraid. I need you to wake yourself" " what do you mean wake myself? " emma looked in awe at this snow white creature. She was heavenly. Emma couldn't understand why but she wasn't afraid. She felt at peace with this creature. Somehow Emma knew she wouldn't be harmed. " a deeper awake than you have ever been. that's where you will find me little Emma. I can unlock all your secrets. " Emma looked deep into the creatures eyes studying her. She reached out to touch her and the creature bowed to her. Emma ran her hand across the silkiest fur she had ever felt. This creature was majestic and absolutely gorgeous. She was tall and all white and her eyes glowed a beautiful shade of gold. Looking into her eyes she felt like she somehow knew this creature. Almost like this creature was an extension of herself. " awake Little Emma. you finally found him, now find me." " what are you and what do you mean I found him and now find you?" the magnificent creature stood tall once more and smiled at Emma. " I am Renee. I am your wolf. now find me before its too late." and with that Emma woke from her dream as sunlight filtered in on her face. Emma couldn't help but think about her strange dream. she got up out of bed getting dressed for school. " hey mom I had the strangest dream last night. I could barely sleep but it was so vivid and so real. I can still feel it on my hands." Emma grabbed the orange juice out of the fridge. her mom looked at her quizzically with one eye brow raised. " what was it about dear? " she motioned for her daughter to sit in a chair and eat breakfast. Emma sat down pondering over her dream. " I dreamt of a beautiful white wolf. She was amazing. she was so soft like silk and she told me to come find her before it was too late. How weird is that?" Emma took a long drink of her juice and put her fork through some sausage. " I wasn't afraid of her. she said her name was Renee and she was my wolf. Wouldn't that be awesome if I was a wolf!!!" she ate another peice of sausage before getting up. " I mean I know it's not possible but man it would be so amazing if it was. she was such a beautiful white wolf. probably rare. " Emma smiled and walked out of the room leaving her parents in the kitchen not moving a muscle. Shock was clearly on their faces.
