Chapter Two: Unbound Jealousy

⚜ Nina’s P.O.V. ⚜ “You know, woman is like animal- you have to give attention and love and all money. Money is vital for woman to be in life-” “What in the hell are you talking about right now, Lex?” I grunted, setting the woman down onto the chair again. Lexi leaned against the basement’s wall, chuckling at my frustration. His obvious russian accent was thick every time he spoke, and I wondered if that is how I used to sound before training myself to speak with an American accent. “Sorry, sorry. I was just explaining how I got her. I ask her on date, flash some money- kaboom, kapow.” He crossed his arms, frowning. “You know… I don’t like ‘Lexi’. You know my name is Alexander-” “Oh my god.” I threw my hands up, shaking my head with annoyance. “It’s not that big of a deal-” “It is big deal to me-” “Well, it shouldn’t be.” “The vsegda delaes eto, boze, the takaya suka!*” I snapped, turning to him and baring my fangs as I yelled. “The suka! Vy vsegda nazivali menia «ninni» vmesto moego nastoyashchego imeni, poetomou ya delayu to ze samoe! Nay ochen choroso, nay thuck lee?*” “Forget it, forget it.” I raised a brow, my face returning back to normal as I turned back to the weak woman. “You remind me of mama when you get like that.” He grumbled. I rolled my eyes, looking at him up and down before going over to him. “Who is this?” I nodded my head to the almost unconscious body, and he suddenly laughed. “Did Papa forget to tell you?” He c****d his head and raised a brow, “Looks like you two aren’t as close as you thought, huh?” “Lexi.” I warned him, glaring. He sighed, “Fine, fine. This woman apparently has information about the Romanoffs.” “Ah.” I nodded, looking at the woman with a frown. “I will go get the tools then.” “Thank you.” Lexi said, checking his nails with an unbothered expression. It only took an hour for the woman to c***k. But even then- her blood was everywhere. I groaned in disgust at the mess on the floor of the basement after Lexi had torn her heart out. “You know, for someone who is bothered about the mess- it’s ironic how you didn’t mind being the one to make it.” I glared at Lexi as he picked up her body and threw it over his shoulder. “It’s not my fault I’m like this-” “Yes, yes. Me and Papa, I know.” He turned, walking upstairs with a sigh. “It’s not like you fought much against it, anyhow.” I exhaled, frowning as I suddenly had a flashback of how I was turned into a vampire. I was in my homeland- in Russia. My family had recently become poor, but we managed- it wasn’t until later when we had found out that my Papa had taken the money we managed with from a loan shark- who just happened to be a vampire, as well as their lackeys. It was 1952, and I hadn’t known it yet, but my Papa had already been dead for over an hour. Unbeknownst to the loan sharks, my Papa had drunk some mystery elixir of theirs. I was on my way home from school, sighing at the warm- I had always preferred the cold. My brother chuckled as I complained in Russian, “It’s so hot today.” “You’re like a snowman.” He said, flicking my forehead. I shook my head, laughing as we opened the door to my house- and saw our father and mother on the floor of our living room. Blood was everywhere as they laid there- lifeless. I ran over, falling to my knees and starting to cry hysterically. “Papa! Mama, wake up! Stop it! Get up!” My brother gasped, rushing over and falling to his knees as I screamed for my parents to get up. Only one of them did- my dad. When he gasped back to life, my brother and I froze in shock. We were so confused- why did he turn out okay? Of course, we didn’t question it. We were just so glad he was alive. “Is everything okay? Oh-” Our neighbor, Mrs. Drudgkev, stood at the door with a hand on her chest, speaking in traditional Russian. My dad had turned into an animal at the overwhelming scent of the blood around the house. My brother pulled me out of the way as my dad dove for me, and when he had missed, he changed his target. My Papa turned to our neighbor who had turned to run, and he had slaughtered her by draining her blood. I cried as my brother held me, both of us in shock. “What is happening? Why is he doing this?” “I don’t know, Ninny. I don’t know.” I sobbed, shaking my head at the terrible occurrences. This was unreal… I came back to reality as the cold water hit my hands, and I lathered my arms in soap to wash the blood off of me. But then I saw the blood on my clothes too, and decided a shower would be better. I stripped going into the shower. The hot water washed over me, and I moaned at the sensation. The steaming hot liquid made me burn with purpose, with determination- I needed to get Papa what he wants. With the wolves under our command, we would kill those bastards that ruined our family and finally be free to do what we wished. I would be free- free to love, free to live… I got dressed under fifteen minutes, and cleaned the bathroom in ten. I went to the mirror in my bedroom, looking at my outfit with an impassive stare. I had compelled students earlier, getting inside their mind and convincing them to do something I needed. So this strappy pink and backless dress, these heels, these glasses, this ponytail… There was going to be a party tonight at the football field- one of the students I compelled was the principal’s son, and thankfully had access. I know there was no way in hell that the biggest extrovert wolves on earth would miss this. I went downstairs, sighing as I scrolled through my ** feed. Grayson and his buddies had apparently gone to their iconic cafe to have dinner or something about an hour ago as seen on Ryder’s story. “And where are you going?” Lexi asked, raising an eyebrow and crossing his arms as I got to the last step. I rolled my eyes. “I’m going to a party- why? Wanna come?” I asked sarcastically, and he shrugged. “Maybe. Maybe I also go to school-” “Ugh, please don’t.” I walked past him, looking in the mirror by the doorway as I scrutinized my look. “What happened to your accent?” His voice suddenly changed, and I looked back at him with furrowed brows. His accent changed, trying a little too hard to be American. “I change it when I want to.” I smirked, speaking with my original accent. He chuckled, and I shook my head with a smile as I kept speaking in my new accent. “To think it was just like yesterday we were worried about how to pass our final year in school.” “To think it was yesterday that Papa loved us.” He spoke, his original accent showing once again. “He-” I started, but trailed off as I bit my lip. How could I defend someone who made us do such vile things? I shrugged the feeling off, breathing in deeply and ignoring it all. “So you coming or not?” “Send me the address and I’ll meet you there.” I smiled as I exited the house. The party was in full swing- I was surprised to see just how teenagers these days were such party animals. Last time I was around them, they weren’t this outwardly… tawdry about it. Boys leered at me as I neared the group of teenagers, and I rolled my eyes before putting on a smile as I walked near one of them and grabbed their cup. This particular boy was lean, with black hair, and with a grin on his lips as he watched me drink their bitter cup of beer. I pulled out my phone, grinning along, “Want to take a selfie?” He got close, his hand on my waist as I feigned to be a little too tipsy for the picture as his hand gripped a little too low on my lower back. I smirked as I pushed him away, and uploaded the picture to my ** story. - ♡ Grayson’s P.O.V. ♡ I chuckled at Ryder’s stupid comment, and shook my head. “Ryder, you’re being stupid.” “Am I wrong?” Ryder asked, his frown deepening as he looked at Xavier and Seth, at Ethan and Raul. Tonight was a guy’s night, and we were talking about Ryder’s mate. “Ophelia doesn’t deserve someone like me. She deserves someone who can fulfill her need for a true mate. I’ve never even had a relationship since… well, ever.” I scoffed, “You know that’s not true. There’s a reason you two are mated together, you know.” “Yeah, right.” He cursed under his breath. Xavier was tired, canoodled against Seth while Raul and Ethan played games on their phones. My phone pinged, signaling me that Nina- my mate I had just met the other day -had posted on her ** story. She was beautiful- olive skin, chocolate brown hair, and long lashes. Pink lips with a sharp cupid’s bow, a slender yet slightly curvy body… she had these chocolate brown eyes, and the way they looked up at me with some indescribable and hidden feeling behind those glasses. I have just met her, yet I could feel myself falling in love the more I know her. I wanted to know everything I could about this mysterious girl- she had come up to us in the diner, and judging by our interactions so far: she was shy, yet unbelievably snarky. I went to her ** story and froze at what I saw. She was at a party on the football field, and a guy’s hand was on her waist- too dangerously low on her waist. Her body looked extravagant in that dress, her legs going on for what seemed a mile… It was borderline almost on her ass, and she was obviously a little too extroverted at the moment, meaning she was tipsy. And he could take advantage- My fist punched against the table suddenly, startling my friends as I scowled. This wasn’t me- I wasn’t the jealous type at all. I was known to be trusting, to be friendly- the golden boy with a heart of gold. Yet my whole body was humming with anger at the notion that this man was trying to touch my mate, the woman I belonged to- “What’s wrong? Something happen with whats-her-name?” Raul asked, somewhat concerned. “Have you seen her story?” I showed them the phone, and they all winced as they laid their eyes upon it. “We’re going to a party- now.” “I’m not that in the mood-” Ryder began, and Xavier obviously kicked him from under the table. “Ow! Rude!” Xavier rolled his eyes and Seth placed his hand affectionately on my shoulder, “We’ll help with your mate. Is she at the party on the football field?” “Yep.” I stood, grabbing my leather jacket off my seat. I looked down at myself as I fixed my jacket, and frowned. My zip-up hoodie underneath was a dark blue, and my shirt was black. And black ripped jeans… Would she think I look okay? “You look fine, Grayson.” Raul said, and we all headed to our cars. Teenagers danced amongst themselves, their talking almost as loud as their music. I recognized the lyrics immediately: ‘All the crazy s**t I did tonight, those will be the best memories… I just wanna let it go for the night, that would be the best therapy for me…’ I scoffed to myself, the memory of the early 2000s songs ingrained in me. “Not bad music- and not bad girls either... now that I’m here, I’m kinda glad.” Ryder said, his eyes wandering towards women with a smile set on his lips. I rolled my eyes, “What happened to Ophelia?” “Yeah.” Xavier joined in, glaring daggers at our Alpha. “Ophelia-” “Ophelia can wait.” Ryder cut him off, blending into the crowd as he walked forward. Xavier growled under his breath, and Seth calmed him down as he rubbed his hand onto his chest. I huffed, and looked back at my friends, “Let’s split up and look for her.” “And what do we do when we find her?” Ethan asked sarcastically. “I just… I wanna make sure she’s okay.” I sighed, shaking my head as I started to walk into the crowd, “Just call me if you guys find anything!” There were a lot of people here. Some of them gave me glares as I passed by, and some of them recognized me and smiled. I could only fake a smile here and there, but it was tough when all I could think about was a drunk Nina all over some i***t. Images of her kissing some stranger made my blood boil, and I couldn’t think rationally as I unintentionally started shoving through the crowd. I usually wasn’t like this- I was the good guy. I was the nice guy- and it was even hard being the peaceful one. The music seemed to shift just as I spotted her- Nina was dancing, swaying while boys surrounded her. I froze as I saw how she kept them at a distance, not even focused on them but obviously in control? I furrowed my brows, completely still against the movement of the dancing crowd. She was more than she seemed- at first, I thought she was just a shy nerd. But obviously, she had more than just one side to her. She knew this song and was singing along, and I raised a brow as she looked up directly at me. It’s like she had felt me staring… Her lips worded along to the song, and it was almost like she was speaking to me. I could basically hear her voice without the music- as if she was speaking from her own accord, “You’re exciting, boy, come find me. Your eyes told me, ‘Girl, come ride me.’ f**k that feeling both of us fighting, could he try me? Mmm, most likely.” I felt something primal awaken in me. I scoffed to myself, not too aware of this new feeling she awoke in me. I stalked forward, and she raised her chin with somewhat of a smirk as she continued to dance. How could she be so smug- as if she knew exactly what kind of effect she was having on me. I stopped just in front of her, and Nina just looked up with a slight pout to her pink lips. I glared at the men around her, who seemed shaken at my sudden change in personality and slowly walked away from her. I swallowed, trying to keep my composure as I focused back onto my mate, “Hey.” She smiled, “Hey there. Is Ryder with you?” Annoyance and jealousy rose in my chest, and I scoffed. She frowned as I spoke up, “Why do you care?” “‘Cause he’s cute? I mean, how obvious do I have to be?” She said. Ryder? She liked Ryder? Of all people- I growled lowly, gripping her arm as I pressed her against me. Her eyes widened, looking up at me with a shocked expression. I scowled, “How obvious do I have to be that I want you?” She seemed to freeze, and she licked her lips as her eyes travelled down my body. I bristled, a bit uncomfortable at the way I had been so… so open and blunt. It seemed thirsty instead of the loving way I had meant to confess when the time came. I had still wanted to get to know her, after all. She looked back up at me with a slight glare, and I let go with a sigh. “I’m sorry- I didn’t mean to be so, so possessive-” “No.” Nina remained stoic, her hands going to touch my leather jacket. My breath hitched at the contact, and her glare hardened, “I don’t need your apology.” “I shouldn't have-” She suddenly pulled me down to her eye level, and I gulped as her half-lidded eyes looked into mine in a sensual manner, “Yeah, you shouldn’t have.” I felt conflicted- I had always hated that mate stereotype of being dominant and possessive. Women weren’t objects- and as much as I wanted, she wasn’t mine. I shook my head, “I'm sorry. I won't bother you again." She raised a brow, and huffed as she stepped away from me. “Are you serious?” “I’m not gonna be some asshole who forces you to never talk to any other male again or some possessive and annoying alpha male who-” “You’re scared of being too aggressive?” Nina scoffed in disbelief. I frowned in confusion but shrugged it off. I was a werewolf, and being aggressive was already in my blood- I never wanted to be too possessive and scare my mate away. “Nina, I-” “Don’t be afraid to be too aggressive with this one.” A rugged voice made me tense as I turned towards it, and I saw a blonde and pale guy smirking beside me. His accent was funny- american but obviously with a hint of the origin of a european language. “She always hits back harder, trust.” “Lexi-” Nina spoke, her voice grave. “What, little sister? Am I ruining your cove-” Nina suddenly hit the back of the blonde’s head, and he groaned in annoyance with a glare at my mate. “Ow! Why so hard?” “Maybe because you’re annoying me to pieces, brother!” I huffed, “Brother?” Nina sighed, crossing her arms. “Gray, this is my brother Alexander.” “Nice to meet you.” He held out his hand, and I shook it hesitantly. Alexander chuckled, “Gray? Is that your real name?” “Lexi.” Nina spoke warningly again. “It’s actually Grayson.” I smiled, wanting to make a good impression as I gave him a firm handshake. “Grayson, huh. So you know she’s a vampire, right?” I froze as Alexander smirked down at his sister, and Nina looked at him with an appalled expression. My smile faltered as I withdrew my hand with a furrowed brow, “What did you just say?” -- -- -- -- -- -- *The vsegda delaes eto, boze, the takaya suka! - you always do this, god, you're such a b***h!
