I didn’t keep track of how long I simply sat there, sharing her company and watching her move around the room as she continued about her business. She was lighting candles all around the room. I had to admit that I found it rather odd for her to be doing so, when it was still relatively light outside. The sky hadn’t even begun to darken. And the more that I thought about it, the more I realised that there were things amiss. Even if her intention had been to lighten the room, she was lighting more candles than necessary.
