Chapter 24 I wake up in an empty hospital room not knowing how I got here or why I'm connected to all these tubes and machines. My body feels weak and stiff like I've been lying in the same position for too long. My mouth and throat are dry, making it harder to breath. I try to sit up, but a sharp pain in my back holds me in place. I lay back down and sigh, staring up at the ceiling and trying to piece together anything that might help me figure out why I'm here. I can't seem to remember anything and it's driving me crazy. Where is my family? Why aren't they here with me? Do they even care that I'm here? The door to my room creaks open and an older man with white hair walks in holding a clipboard. He looks a little surprised to see me awake. "Mia...how are you feeling?" He asks.
