Seven: Jasmine

Seven: Jasmine Timone Borg I’m snap my eyes open as the announcement from the pilot comes over the loudspeaker. Informing us that we need to make our way back to our seats and seatbelt ourselves in. We will be landing in five minutes. I fasten my seatbelt and look out the window. It is so dark out that all I can see is the runway lights. A sigh leaves my lips as the little girl next to me elbows me trying to put her seat belt on. “Do you need help?” I ask her as she just stares at me with her big hazel eyes. I lean over her and put her seatbelt on her. She gives me a shy smile and says “thanks.” I lean back in my seat as I feel the descent of the plane. Home, I’m finally really home after years of being gone. It has been three months since I had received the frantic phone call from my brother. He demanded me to come home. That Todd, my adoptive brother was kidnapped and his mate Drake was going out of his mind. I shake my head as that is a pandora’s box if I ever heard one. My brother was upset that I couldn’t come straight home. I was dealing with the affairs of our soon to be King. That is another issue best left to debate at a later date. It just seems the Werewolf community is blowing up with stupid wolves and contracts. I exit the plane walking behind the little girl as I hear a woman shouting for her. I see her face lite up with happiness as she screams “Mommy…” I smile remembering my own mother and how she used to hug and kiss away my problems. I miss her every day. Her and my father’s passing hurt me and left a hole where my heart was. I look around and follow the signs to the rent-a-car. No one knows that I am back yet. I decided I wanted to surprise them. I do know that Todd is back home know and everything seems to be going well for the two. I still cannot believe that they ended up being Fated Mates. I feel a bubble of envy in my gut as I still haven’t met my own Fated Mate. Even my sister has met hers. I know I’m the youngest, but you would think with all the places I have been to and visited I would have. I approach the desk to as a very attractive woman, eyes me up and down. I feel my wolf’s indifference as I give her a smile, after all you get more with honey than vinegar. The woman has me fill out paperwork and I give her my black card. She looks at I than at me with a twinkle in her eye. “I get off in an hour. Want to grab a cup of coffee with me?” She asks as I smile at her. “Thanks, but my wife is waiting for me.” I say as her smile never wavers. “What your wife doesn’t know won’t hurt her.” I chuckle as she hands me the keys. I walk away not even looking back. Humans…. Is all I can think. They are always trying to throw themselves at me. What really gets me is it isn’t just the women but the men also. I shake my head, don’t get me wrong I don’t care if my mate is male or female. They are mine and I know I will love them regardless. I just don’t want to give my body to someone that I know I won’t love. Not like I will love my Fated Mate. I guess that is why I’m twenty and still a virgin. I find my renal in the lot. I smile looking at the 2023 Chevy Camaro in a beautiful mint green color. “Oh, you are sexy.” I say as I glide my hand over the side panel to the front hood. I feel my blood sing through my veins as I think of racing her down the deserted road. It is after all two in the morning. “Oh, baby we are going to have some fun.” I say as I hit the unlock button and get inside. I lovingly run my hand over the dashboard. I push the start button and she purrs to life. I carefully back her out of her spot and find the exit. I smile an evil smile as I hit the gas and listen to the squealing of tires as I take off. It took two hours to reach the little town outside of my pack lands. I glanced, seeing that Pop’s Dinner was still open. I smile as I remember all the good times I had in the place before I went aboard to study at fourteen. Yeah, I scored off the charts for IQ’s. I had already graduated high school at fourteen and went on to further my education. I am in interspecies relations for the Elders Council and work side by side with our King of Werewolves. I know things that would make others p*ss their pants. I pull into the dinner and park my car. I had just excited when I hear a door open, and the smell of jasmine hits me. I stop and just stare as a woman that could only be five six, maybe five seven walking to the dumpster with a bag of garbage. She is solid built stocky woman with long black hair. I watch her as she stands under the light from the lamp post. As I zero in on her face I smell the undeniable smell of death coming off of her. I have this feeling in the bottom of my gut that she is the one I have been waiting for. I cannot wait for our eyes to lock and for me to know the truth. What I don’t understand is why she smells like death. What am I missing here. I watch her as she stops and looks around. I’m in the back of the lot so I don’t know if she can see me or not. It seems she doesn’t as she then turns and walks back inside. My heart feels like it’s about ready to jump out of my chest as I start to walk out of the back parking lot. I round the building and come to a halt. I just watch as she is cleaning tables. There is only one guy sitting at the counter drinking a cup of coffee. Another waitress is sweeping the floor. I take a deep breath and push open the door. I stop just inside of the door when I hear the woman sweeping. “Have a seat anywhere.” I nod my head and look in the direction of the other woman. Our eyes meet and my wolf spirit goes crazy. I hear her gasp as she stares at me. I don’t move from my spot. I stand there for a couple of seconds waiting to see what she was going to do. I watch as she lowers her head and continues to clean the table. The door behind dings as a group of guys come stumbling in and claim a table. I watch the black-haired woman race to the back through the double swinging doors and out of sight. I take a deep breath and make my way to the corner both where I always sit. I look around and notice the guys are drunk and not caring how loud they are. The blond walks over to me and looks at me. “What can I get you to drink?” She asks sitting the menu in front of me. I look at her. Picking it up and handing it back to her. “Cheeseburger deluxe with an ice water.” I say as she smiles as me and walks away nodding her head. I watch the black haired woman waiting on the table of drunks. I couldn’t hear her talk over them. Her scent fills the whole dining area and I begin to relax as I watch her interacting with them. Within half an hour the dinner fills with loud college students. I eat and keep my eyes open as the two run around. All of them are human except for my mate who refuses to make eye contact with me again. I smirk to myself. That is okay. I have waited twenty years to meet my mate. Now that I have her in my sights, I will not let her go. After all she needs me as much as I need her. The one question still lingers in my mind. Why does she smell like she is dying? Something is wrong and I will figure it out. I get up and make my way to the rest room and do my thing. As I exit, she runs right into me. I wrap my arms around her as she looks up into my face. I give her a smile. “Mate.” She says surprised as I lean down and scent her neck taking a deep breath of her scent. That is when it hits me. She is not completely a werewolf. I take another lung full and try to analyze what she truly is. I pull back and look at her. “Mine.” I growl out as she breaks away from my arms and runs in the opposite direction. I chuckle as I mumble. “Run, Run as fast as you can.” I say as I walk as if I don’t have a worry in the world.
