ACE and I were having breakfast together, but it was eerily quiet. The silence was getting to me, so I decided to break it. "Uhm, Ace?" I started. "Did you grow up in Korea?"
He lowered the book he was reading and looked at me. He took a sip of his tea before answering. He hummed first. "I was born there, and we stayed until I turned twelve. Why do you ask that so suddenly?" he asked, returning his gaze to his book.
I wanted to know if he knew Kyung Jae. Should I ask?
"Uhm, do you know...?" I hesitated. Korea is a huge country, it's impossible for him to know. Never mind. "Ah, nothing," I said, continuing to eat.
"Go on, ask. You might not get another chance once we're at school," he said, looking up at me again.
"No, don't worry about it."
"Okay, as you wish."
