Chapter 8

1763 Words

Axel The air here seemed so different. After 12 months in the desert, this place almost seems like a foreign country. The air was cooler, the airport was packed with people traveling for the holidays, but I couldn't find the strength to get up just yet. I was at the bar in the terminal just outside of security. My place had landed about 2 hours ago and I was on my third glass of whiskey. The bar had a few sports games playing in the background and holiday music playing softly in the air. God, I wish I could get in the mood for the holidays. I wish I could be happy to be here but instead my mind is over there. My mind is occupied with my men. Well, they're no longer my men. I take one bullet to the leg and they boot me out. All because I have a slight limp to my step. Oh well, f**k them.
