Mending Broken Fences

CHAPTER 52 Gabriel By the time we got back to the flat, I had a severe headache. With all that was going on, we hadn’t eaten anything too. Thankfully, Mum cooked up a storm that could feed a small army. My Princess was sound asleep, all thanks to Erica, who also offered to stay over to tend to her needs. She asked Neo to pack her a bag and bring it through the next morning. She would borrow some of my Bella’s stuff for the night as she apparently had done before when she spontaneously decided to stay overnight. I had no issues with that, and I know my Bella would definitely not either, Erica was helping us out, and I would just about do anything to ensure she was comfortable. Neo and I washed up one after the other and settled down with everyone and gratefully ate the delicious meal mum had prepared. After my family and Erica’s had left, she said that she was going to shower and turn in for the night, and Neo and I must make ourselves comfortable on the couches. She told us that she would keep an eye on my Princess. She was indirectly telling us to ‘Sort out our Sh*t’! I guess it would be for the best if we sorted things out. The awkwardness between us has been driving me insane! Where to start, though? I decided that with all that was happening, I should just swallow my pride and give him the apology he wanted. “Your mum’s still an amazing cook!” he said, breaking the ice. That helped BIG TIME! We started reminiscing about the good old days when we’d all end up at my place, and my mum used to get all excited and use us boys as her guinea pigs. We didn’t mind her experimenting with her new recipes and us being the ones trying it out as they luckily always turned out so good. We continued chatting about stuff we did back in the days and then out of the blue in an emotional voice, Neo asked, “How could you possibly have believed that I would sell you out, Gabe?” I got up, excused myself, and got a glass of water and something for my headache, which had subsided a bit but was still annoying me. When I sat down, I asked Neo to put himself in my shoes back then and how he would have reacted, but he said that he would definitely not have reacted the way I did! I didn’t want to go around in circles and come up with petty excuses anymore. I apologized and told him that I knew it was a lot to ask of him, but I truly hoped he could find it in his heart to forgive me. He just sarcastically said that he would think about it and threw a cushion right at me. We continued chatting, and he told me that he’s not sure if my Bella got around to discussing it with me, but she chose Erica and him as my Princess’s God Parents. She didn’t get around to telling me, but my Bella definitely made a great choice! They both showered my Princess with so much of love and they clearly share a special bond, and a perfect example was what mum said about Erica being the only one who was able to keep her calm and settled her down when she was crying uncontrollably. Neo also told me about how he had met Erica. She was truly his Earth angel. He said that she came to him when he had lost all faith and hope in life itself. It was her faith in him and her constantly motivating him that helped him rebuild his confidence and life. He then told me that he was planning on proposing soon. He wanted her to officially become his forever queen. I then told him about the estate and how I had planned to surprise my Bella. I then asked him if he would be interested in planning a double surprise proposal. He seemed deep in thought and said that he had planned something private and intimate, but come to think of it, it was probably something that could be forgotten over the years. So he said that we had to make it so special and totally epic that they would speak of the day to generations to come! I couldn’t agree more! We continued chatting away late into the night and decided to call it a night when Erica reminded us of the time when she was going to check up on my princess. The next morning, I phoned up the hospital to get an update on my Bella and the girls. Except for a few fractured ribs, she was okay, and thankfully, the test results were all good. The girls were extremely undernourished and underweight, and the doctor said that they had already started them on a healthy eating plan. They were also in desperate need of counseling as the trauma of all that happened was taking a toll on them, and the doctor assured me that he was already on it and scheduled some appointments already. I thought it would be a good thing if my Bella also went for some of those sessions, but it would have to be her choice to make. I then asked for permission to take my princess through to see my Bella, and the doctor said that it would do her good. Being surrounded by her loved ones will help speed up her recovery process. After telling Erica and Neo about my conversation with the doctor, I phoned up my mum and asked her to make arrangements for Aunt Brie, Amber, and Pearl to come through. Arianna had contacted them and told them everything that had happened. They kept in contact regularly, also over the period that my Bella had left home, for updates, and had also been praying for her safe return. They were also overjoyed to hear about my Princess and were so excited to meet her!
