Amber's POV
I ran, the trees sliced my skin, grabbed at my hair or caused me to fall. No matter how many times I was hurt, I still pushed forward. I wasn't sure if I should stop. So I pushed on. I had finally had the chance to not be in a cell, I didn't want to loose freedom once again. My lungs burned, I was gulping air to breath. My legs felt like they were on fire, while getting heavier with each step. I pushed on, breaking through a bank of mist to see a fallen tree. Perhaps there I could rest a bit. I knew my body could not do much more.
Coming around the other side of the tree I found a small opening it wasn't huge but part of me could fit. There I curled up in a ball, tears flowed out of my eyes, worried for my friends I had left and worried for myself. Not knowing what would happen now. Should I go back? Do I keep running? My body ached, but my heart ached more.

Hawk's POV
*******
I had made it to Momma Dee's woods, my beast was tired from the journey. I had used his stamina and speed to be here two days sooner then I had thought. I had gone to the pack house, to see that several hunters had been disposed of. Mato told me that they had sent the girl into the woods. Knowing I would be here. He was hoping that with my presence in the woods, the hunters would not check. He explained he had no clue where the girl was as well as asking me to check while they too looked in the woods.
I was curious so I agreed. This was not my normal work but being I was in the woods looking for a girl anyway chances were 50/50 I would find either. I had not felt like this in a long time. It almost felt like I was human. I wandered around just letting fate take me. It was the sound of faint sobbing, I followed it. The closer I got the more I felt my heart clench in my chest. I seen the fallen tree. My heart, picked up its pace, tightening in my chest, creating something uncomfortable in me. I turned the corner, to see the girl I had been shown by the Lyican Princess. Her clothes tattered, the smell the copper scent of blood around her.
I kneeled, her hands lowered as if she knew I was here. Bright green eyes met me. My hearted then stalled and danced. Tears were still dripping out of her eyes. I kneeled next to her, using my thumbs to wipe away her tears, "It seems we have been destined to meet." I heard my voice say. "You will have no need to ever cry again little one." I could see her pupils dilate, and hear her sigh. Giving no thought, I picked her up. Standing with ease, I felt her settle against my chest like she was made to fit there. The places she was touching made my skin feel alive.
I walked with her like this for a ways. The thought hit me I should take her home with me. But seeing her state and having heard from Mato how he found her, something in me brought her back to Momma Dee's house.
I was walking toward the back porch, when I seen the whole group come running out. Momma Dee's round frame trotting up to us with tears in her eyes. "You found her, thank the goddess." She breathed.
"Can you take me to her room?" I asked. This whole thing felt awkward and out of place. Normally I would growl and get what I wanted. Oddly I didn't want to.
"This way," I watched Momma Dee swat people out of her way as she made way for us to the house.
"Let him through" Mato's voice rang from the side of me.
The rest of the people split quickly and made it much easier for me to walk. I looked down at her sleeping form to to see her snuggled into my chest. A peaceful expression on her face.
"Up this way," I glanced up to see Momma Dee on the stairs waiting for me. Mato I could smell behind me. I nodded and followed her quietly. At the top off the stairs, she trotted down the hall to a door close to the end. "Here," She opened the door and stepped inside. Moving out of my way, I made my way to the little bed laying her down, on it. As soon I started to pull away she whimpered. Her hand grabbed one of my hands. Momma Dee sucked in a breath. I glanced to see her look to Mato.
"Bring him that chair." Mato instructed. He turned and walked away. Momma Dee, brought the chair from the door to the bed.
"Here," A knowing smile appeared on her lips. "she has never reached out to anyone like that." She quietly spoke not to wake the girl." I seen her glance at her hand gripping mine. "She has shied away from any man's touch." She looked at me tears glistened in her eyes. "I will get the supplies to clean and bandage her wounds." She nodded to me almost like a bow and scurried from the room.
I sat down in the chair. In the light I could see her body littered with scars. Claw marks, fangs and who knew what made the other ones. My blood boiled at the thought of what she had been through. I wanted the name of everyone who had done this. I would kill them all. Momma Dee came back in, laden with medical things.
"Go ahead, I will release my aura for her to remain calm while I take care of her and change her clothes. Mato wants to speak with you if you have time?" She smiled and the laid the supplies down getting them on the nightstand so she could do the task at hand.
I rose, as Momma Dee released her Omega aura. I watched the girl's breath hitch and then calm. Walking out the door I closed it and walked down the stairs to the back of the house where Mato was standing looking at the porch swing from the back door.
