Chapter 2Sleep eludes me that night. My heart is thumping, my legs are restless, and I toss and turn, unable to find a comfortable position, to quiet my mind, to relax enough to fall asleep. I reach out for the other side of the bed, my hand landing on Marcus’s favorite blanket that I can’t bear to put away. I grip it and pull it close, burying my nose in the soft wool, knowing his scent is long gone, but still comforted by the thought of it. I wish I could talk to him; Marcus always knew how to calm my racing mind, knew the right thing to say.
