To The Rescue

While on her way to the no man’s land, Shanaia was just thinking about how to help her people, her friends, and her family. Unlike some of those who went to the party who can already shift to their wolf, she still hasn’t and doesn’t even know what to shift into since she is half feline half Lycan. Nevertheless, she still wanted to help and make sure everyone was safe. She may not be able to shift but she has her gifts and her fighting skills to help her. Like everyone else, she was trained to fight at a very young age and she also developed her vampire gifts. Like her cousins, she has psychokinesis, and she also inherited her father’s gift of manipulating anything liquid. Shanaia made a decision to use the shortcut toward the no man’s land so she could get to her family and friends ahead of the responding warriors. Her running speed could rival those who have shifted; maybe because she was half cheetah. When she was close to reaching her destination, she halted her steps when she smelled the scent of alcohol, burning wood, and blood. She gritted her teeth and ran faster in that direction. And when she got there, it was pandemonium. She saw cowering human students, trying to hide and escape the place. She also saw some of the wolves who go to their school fighting off the rogues. She then saw her cousin Zander fighting rogues in his Lycan form while her brother was fighting using his strength and his water-manipulating gift. Shanaia looked around and searched for Sera, and when she saw her, she was escorting the humans out of the place. As she was about to go to her, she saw the pack warriors come and fight with the rogues. She was relieved to see help came took over in fighting the rogues as those teens who were fighting, went to help evacuate those who could not fight. Shanaia also helped in evacuating the civilians and then she turned towards Sera and she saw rogues running in their direction. She immediately intervened and made a few hand gestures and the beer and other alcoholic beverage moves. She manipulated them to block the attacking rogues and used her psychokinesis to throw them away. Because of Shanaia’s quick response, the rogues were thrown away before they could reach Sera and the humans. Then she made her way towards them and checked on them. “Sera, are you okay?” Shanaia asked worriedly as she saw blood all over her friend’s clothes and face. Sera on the other hand looked surprised when she saw Shanaia. “What are you doing here? You shouldn’t have come!” Sera snapped. “But I have to help!” Shanaia replied. Then Sera grabbed Shanaia’s arms. “You were already safe, why come here?!” Sera snapped. “I said I want to help!” Shanaia snapped back and then she turned around and blocked the rogue that jumped on them using her psychokinesis. Shanaia gritted her teeth as more rogues attacked them but she concentrated on holding them off. She extended her arms as she strengthened her hold. “GO NOW!” Shanaia screamed at Sera and the latter clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth as she contemplated if she should leave her friend behind or save the humans. “JUST GO!” Shanaia screamed again and Sera cursed before she turned around and took the human students away from the place. Once they were gone, Shanaia’s eyes turned red as she moved her fingers, and then the rogues she was holding off stiffened. Then she smirked and the rogues’ bodies shook as their blood started to come out of every hole in their bodies. As the rogues dropped on the ground, dead, Shanaia looked around and waved her hand, doing the same towards the other rogues she set her eyes on. “Shan!” She turned around and saw her brother running towards her. “Are you hurt?” she asked him when she saw the blood on the side of his head. Crane touched the blood on his face and sighed. “I’m fine. Some rogue scratched my head but I’m all healed.” He answered. Then they heard a loud growl and when they turned towards the direction where it came from, they saw Zander, being beaten up by a huge rogue. It has its massive mouth, clamped around Zander’s throat. Zander may have shifted to his Lycan but he isn’t used to it and he’s not yet well-trained. Both Shanaia and Crane worriedly ran towards Zander to rescue him but then, a strong energy expelled from his body, sending the rogue and everyone else around him, flying a few meters from him. It’s as if, it was released as a defense mechanism. Crane immediately grabbed his sister when they were also sent flying away. He held her tight and made sure she was not hurt when they crashed against the makeshift tables. “Are you okay?” Crane asked his sister. “Y-Yeah.” She answered as she looked at her arm healed from the abrasions she got when they crashed. Then they looked at the direction of Zander. He looked like he passed out and he shifted back to his human form. The rogues that he sent flying across the place got up and was ready to attack. Seeing that, Shanaia and Crane run towards them and both of them use their water manipulation to block the attack. As Crane made a wall made up of water, Shanaia on the other hand manipulated the water, turning it into water serpents and she used them to attack the rogues. The water serpent clamped its mouth into the rogues, ripping them apart. It was a blood-spattered scene and those who witnessed it were terrified by it. And when they were close to defeating the rogues, the warriors came to them and stopped them. Crane stopped but it was different with Shanaia. She continued to rip the rogues using water, and when someone grabbed her arm, that was the only time she stopped the c*****e. Shanaia looked at the person who grabbed her, ready to snap at that person but she was taken aback when she saw it was their father –Alpha Creon. “That’s enough,” he spoke and Shanaia lowered her head. Alpha Creon gave his children a disapproving look before he turned toward the pack warriors. “Bring all the injured warriors and students back to the infirmary building,” he ordered and the warriors nodded. “How about the surviving rogues, Alpha?” One warrior asked and Alpha Creon looked at him and then at the rogues being chained with silver. “Take them to the dungeons.” Alpha Creon spoke and the warriors dragged the rogues out of the place. “Dad…” Crane called his father. “Take your sister back to the pack house. I will speak to both of you once I am done cleaning up this mess,” Alpha Creon replied in a cold tone, making both his children submit. They nodded and left the no man’s land with their heads hanging low. But on their way back to their pack, they saw a huge shadow passed above them. And when they looked back, they saw their uncle Alex swooped down beside their father. Shanaia and Crane looked at each other before they agreed to sneak back into the location. They crept through the trees and bushes until they were close enough to hear what they were talking about. As they hid behind a thick bush, they saw their uncle Alex crouched down next to Zander’s unconscious body. He picked him up and cradled the upper part of his body, the same time a warrior came to them. “Did he do all of this?” They heard Alex ask the warrior. “No, he didn’t, your highness.” The warrior answered and Alex let out a sigh of relief, then he looked at his brother and the warrior. “But then, what happened here? How did this c*****e happen?” Alex asked. Alpha Creon sighed. “It was my daughter.” He answered and Alex looked at him in disbelief. “What? That’s impossible, Shanaia wouldn’t… she couldn’t.” Alex mumbled. “She did, we saw it. Shanaia managed to use water into something more destructive.” Alpha Creon answered. “That’s a good thing, right?” Alex asked but Creon looked torn. “It’s not?” he asked again, based on his brother’s expression. “I am not sure. I am worried that she may not have something to balance her destructive power.” Alpha Creon said. As they continued to discuss, Crane looked at his sister who was still behind the bush. “What does he mean by that?” he asked his sister. “He meant the healing gift that I don’t have,” Shanaia answered and then she stood up and walked away. Crane watched his sister walk away. He understood how the topic of healing was quite sour for her. He got his healing gift a year ago and she hasn’t when she was older. But for Shanaia, being the eldest child of both doctors and the great healer feels like she has to be like them. And not getting the healing gift is like a big blow to her ego. Crane heaved a deep sigh and followed his sister.
