Seb and Crane dragged Samara inside the main house and their uncle Siegfried, Samara’s father, and their grandfather caught up to them.
“Let’s all talk in my office,” Siegfried said, leading everyone to his office.
Crane and Seb looked at each other before making their way towards their uncle’s office with Seb still not taking his hand on Samara’s mouth despite her efforts.
Once inside the office, the door was closed and they made them sit on the couch while Siegfried and his father stood up, looking down on them. And once Samara was able to remove Seb’s hand, she stood up and started complaining.
“They need to go, Dad! They, especially their sister are a threat to this tribe! You saw what she did! She did not only make a mess, but she also tried to kill me!”
“Hey, b***h. You and your foul mouth started it,” Seb argued.
Samara glared at him.
“You! How dare you put your filthy paws on me! It's disgusting!” she snarled, making Seb stand up, glaring at her.
“Oh, really? Well, if it wasn’t for your father, I’ll beat your ass right now!” Seb snarled back.
Seb and Samara are about the same age and both have that spunk that made them clash. As the two of them argue, Crane looks so done while the adults have that unreadable look on their faces.
“That’s enough!” Siegfried growled, making Samara and Seb stop bickering. Crane then pulled them down and made them sit.
Siegfried crossed his arms over his chest and narrowed his eyes on his daughter. Samara felt her father’s eyes on her, she looked at him, trying to make herself look innocent and try to gain sympathy.
“Dad…” Samara trailed as she didn’t get to continue what she was about to say when her father gave her a sharp look.
“I never imagined that my own daughter would start such commotion,” Siegfried said, making Samara gawk at him.
Then she stood up.
“W-What? Are you going to blame this on me?!” she screeched.
“And who should we blame?” Samael asked.
“That mutt!”
Samara blurted.
When Seb and Crane growled at her and both Siegfried and Samael scowled, Samara realized that she was in trouble.
“Your vulgar language and disrespect for family is something I never expected to come from you, Samara. You are my daughter, their cousin. How can you say those words to family?”
Her father spoke and Samara looked away.
“Don’t look away when I am speaking to you!” Siegfried exclaimed and then Samara looked at him.
“What now? You’re going to scold me just because I spoke the truth?! They are mutts! They don’t belong –“
SLAP
Samara was stunned when her father’s palm hit her cheek, sending her face to the side. Both Seb and Crane’s eyes widened when they witnessed that and shared the same reaction through their mind link.
‘Deserve,’
Samara then cupped her cheek, ignoring the stinging pain as she looked at her father.
“I couldn’t believe that I was hearing those words come from your mouth. My own daughter would speak such disrespect towards my sister and her children,” he said and Samara glared at him.
“What disrespect? I am just telling the truth. They are not pure felines like us. They are canines! Mutts! I don’t understand why you treat them equally with us. We live in this place, away from everyone because that’s what our tribe does, we keep it to ourselves. Their mother chose to marry someone from another species instead of our own. Why? Because he is a prince? What a –“
“Don’t you dare continue that sentence,” Siegfried growled.
Then he grabbed Samara’s face, surprising Seb and Crane again.
“You have no right to speak about my sister like that,” he said through his gritted teeth before he let her go, and turned around.
Siegfried paced back and forth, trying to calm himself as he was so disappointed and ashamed of what his daughter was saying and how she acted. Samara was crying while glaring at her father; she didn’t understand why he was angry at her when she was just saying the truth.
“Where did you learn to speak such things?” Samael asked and Samara looked at him.
“You speak ill of my daughter. Do you have any idea how hurtful your words are? You speak of insults about her in front of her children, her family, in front of me. Sahara is my daughter and she is a good person. Where is this all coming from, Samara?”
Samara looked away for a second before she looked at her grandfather.
“I heard she left her mate to be with her now husband. You taught us to value our mates because it’s a gift from the Goddess. But she forsaken that. She forsaken this tribe so she can be some big shot, Luna,” Samara blurted.
Crane couldn’t take it anymore; he stood up, and then he grabbed Samara’s arm and made her face him.
“You should stop talking about things you know nothing about,” he told her.
Crane’s voice was calm but his control was hanging by a thread at that moment. He is holding himself back from punching his cousin in the face. Samara glared at him and she pulled her arm from his hold.
“I know what I am talking about. People talk about how she, your mother married someone who isn't her mate just because he is a prince. I believe in this tribe’s tradition and values; something she threw away for the crown on her head,” she said, and then Seb stood, pulling her hair.
Samara screeched as she tried to slap Seb. Crane intervened, pulled his brother, and made him let go of her hair.
“You act so righteous when you are dumb and stupid. You speak of things you don’t understand!” Seb snapped.
“I don’t understand. I understood and I am upholding this tribe’s value by speaking up and making sure that you mixed breeds stay away from our land!” she snapped back.
Seb gritted his teeth and was about to jump at him but Crane stopped him.
“Let me at her! If Shanaia can’t finish the job, I will! I will wring her neck and rip her hair off!” Seb exclaimed.
“Stop it,” Crane hissed at his brother as he held him back.
Then he looked at Samara.
“Just because I am holding my brother back, it doesn’t mean I am not offended and don’t share his sentiments. Trust me, I am so close to ripping you apart, but I held myself back because you are still our cousin. But you are out of line so I suggest you stop now,” Crane told her.
Samara was about to retort but Samael bellowed, making all of them look at him.
“Who else thought that way about my daughter?” Samael asked.
“It's not just me, grandfather. Some people –“
“Some people just couldn’t mind their own business!” Siegfried exclaimed, interjecting to the conversation.
“Sahara chose Creon because they love each other! Sahara chose love and happiness over some man who was already married even before she knew she was his mate. The Goddess herself blessed their union because their love for each of her was more pure and true than some mismatched mates,” he paused and then walked closer to his daughter.
“You believe those people who peddle fake news to what? Because of what?”
Samara was speechless.
“Our tribe might have chosen to continue living here despite having all the resources and support to relocate, but I never stop our people to explore and live a different life. If Sahara, my beloved daughter chose to live her life away from here, it’s her right. I don’t want to hear you or anyone else speaking nonsense, especially about the things you don’t understand,” Samael spoke.
Then narrowed his eyes on his granddaughter.
“Maybe this tribe has been lenient, grown soft over the years. Because if this had happened when my grandfather was chief, you might have lost your tongue now for such disrespect. Granddaughter or not,” he menacingly said to Samara.
Samara felt really scared of her grandfather at that moment.
“No need for tongue-cutting now, father,” Siegfried said and Samael looked at him before sighing.
“Fine. I think of something else if you let me,”
Samael said and Siegfried nodded, permitting whatever punishment his father thought of.
“Your daughter and her little circle of friends should be taught a lesson. If you don’t want me cutting her tongue, send them out of here,” Samael told his son.
Samara’s eyes widened.
“W-What? Y-you’re banishing us? I am your granddaughter!” she cried and Samael glared at her.
“And you disrespected my daughter and her children. Not to mention you disrespected my son-in-law, a royal prince who is far more powerful than all of us here. And I am not banishing you. I am sending you out to the world so you can get a little bit of a reality check. It's a little bit better than having the royals chop your head,” he told her.
Samara gawked and then she turned to her father.
“Dad, are you just going to let him send me away?!” she exclaimed.
Siegfried looked at his daughter.
“He is not sending you away, Samara.” He said and Samara looked hopeful.
“I am,”
Samara’s hopeful face disappeared when she heard what her father said.
“W-What? You can’t do that,” she whined.
“I can and I will, Samara. Your mother and I have spoiled you and your sister so much that you have turned into that. We are doing this intervention so you won’t completely turn into a horrible person,” he said.
Then there was a knock on the door and when it opened, Enola, Siegfried’s wife, and Samara’s mother came in.
“Mom!” Samara called as she rushed to her side.
“Mom, they are sending –“
Samara didn’t get to finish her sentence when her mother slapped her. Seb and Crane pressed their lips together in surprise at what happened.
“I am very disappointed and upset. I heard about everything and I can’t believe I have a daughter whose heart is turning black as coal. I will not sit still and watch you become more horrible than you already are right now,” Enola spat which broke Samara.
Enola then turned to her father-in-law.
“Father, I apologize for my shortcomings as their mother. Whatever you decide about my daughter, I will accept it,” she said.
Samael stuffed his hands into his pockets as he looked at his daughter-in-law.
“You can start by finding a nice community where they can live among humans, so they can learn to live a normal life, not a privileged life,” he told her and Enola nodded.
“Understood, Father.”
