Mess in the Mess Hall

1961 Words
Shanaia lost her footing with what Samara did to her. As she pulled her hair, her cousin pushed her further until she was against an empty table and Samara continued to tug fistfuls of her hair. The other people around the mess hall stood up from their seats and started watching them. Some were cheering for Samara and some were screaming for them to stop. Shanaia had enough of Samara, she also grabbed her hair and pulled it so hard that she ripped a handful of strands. Because of that, Samara screeched, and then she reached out for the nearest thing within her reach. It was a plate and she used it to smash against Shanaia’s head. Because of what Samara did, the broken plate grazed Shanaia’s scalp and face. As blood trickled down her face, her eyes turned red and in a blink of an eye, she sent Samara flying across the mess hall. Stella and their friends ran towards Samara but before they could reach her, they were all sent flying away from Samara. The tables and chairs around also began moving away from Samara and she looked bewildered by what was happening. And when she looked at Shanaia, her eyes widened when she saw her slowly walking towards her. Half of Shanaia’s face was covered with her blood and the color of her eyes changes from red to sapphire blue with slits. When Shanaia raised her hand's waist level and palms facing upwards, all the liquid around them began to cluster together and form into what looked like snakes. And those liquid snakes moved towards Shanaia, swirled around her like some tentacles. “I told you to stop disrespecting my parents,” Shanaia said as she slowly approached Samara. Samara tried to get up but one of the liquid tentacles swatted her legs, bringing her down. She crashed down the floor with a loud thud and Samara snarled in pain. She then glared at Shanaia with so much hate. “Bring it on b***h! You should just leave or better yet die!” Samara exclaimed and in a blink of an eye, Shanaia was in front of her. Shanaia grabbed Samara’s throat and then she slammed her against one of the pillars. She squeezed her throat as Samara tried to scratch her face. When Samara’s nails managed to scratch Shanaia’s neck and eye, the latter hissed and threw her cousin across the hall. All the while the two girls are fighting, Seb and Crane come with their grandfather. When the brothers saw how Shanaia overpowers Samara, they tried to stop their sister, but their grandfather stopped them. “Grandpa, it’ll be bad for Samara if we don’t stop her now,” Crane stressed. “Wait. I need to see this,” Samael replied to his grandson. When Siegfried and his brothers came to the mess hall, they were all stunned to see their nieces fighting. Siegfried tried to go and stop the two girls but Samael stopped him. “No, don’t,” Siegfried looked at his father in disbelief. “What? What do you mean don’t?” he asked his father. “Can’t you see both your granddaughters are hurting each other?!” Siegfried exclaimed and his father looked at him. “From what I saw, your daughter started this and the only one with blood is Shanaia,” Samael said. Siegfried looked at Shanaia and his father was right. Only Shanaia was bleeding, but looking at his niece at that moment and the way she stalked his daughter, he finally understood what his sister meant by their problem with Shanaia. At that moment, he can see Shanaia has the look of a hunter, ready to kill and she is hunting his daughter. He once again looked at his father. “Papa, we need to stop this now!” “I said, not yet,” Samael told his son. As Shanaia stalked closer to Samara, Crane and Seb knew that their cousin wouldn’t stand a chance. So, against their grandfather’s wishes, they rushed towards their sister’s side. Crane immediately stood in front of his sister and wiped the blood on her face. “Shan, you need to stop now before you hurt her,” he told her. Shanaia’s eyes focused on him and Crane was taken back when he saw her eyes. They were sapphire blue, not the icy blue kind that Lycans, and her pupils were silts like those of a cat. “Shan?” “Why would I stop?” Shanaia asked. “Huh?” “She insulted and disrespected our parents even though I asked her several times to stop,” Shanaia said. “I understand but with what you are doing, you’ll get yourself in trouble,” Crane told his sister and Shanaia frowned. “I don’t care,” Shanaia said coldly before she pushed Crane to the side. As she walked closer to Samara, Seb grabbed Shanaia’s shirt and pulled her back. “Shan, stop,” Seb spoke as he tried to hold her back. But then, the liquid tentacles swatted him and then proceeded to attack Samara. Seeing that Shanaia wasn’t hearing the reason and was still hellbent on coming at her, Samara screamed in panic and tried to run but Shanaia got to her so fast. “You cannot just leave after what you did,” Shanaia said as she held Samara’s arm tightly. “Let me go! You’re hurting me!” Samara cried. “Does it matter? You didn’t even think twice when you insulted my parents!” “I didn’t lie, and what I said is just the truth!” Samara hissed and then Shanaia let her go, but one of the liquid tentacles slapped her. Then Shanaia let the liquid tentacles go after Samara. By the looks of it, they are like several whips lashing at Samara whose cries echoed around. The people around them all took several steps back and would flinch whenever the liquid tentacle hit Samara. Samara curled in a ball on the floor as she received the lashes. Then she saw her father a few feet from her. “Dad! Help me!” she cried. Even Stella cried for their father to step up and help her sister. Even though Siegfried wanted to help his daughter, his father’s order was something he couldn’t ignore. He still holds so much authority that he couldn’t defy his orders even though he is now the chief. Then all the onlookers gasped when they saw the liquid tentacles froze and now they are like ice whips with sharp and pointy tips. “Apologize for what you said about my parents,” Shanaia spoke. Samara glared at her. “No! Over my dead body, mutt!” Samara screamed, making everyone gasp in disbelief. Siegfried inwardly groaned at what his daughter said while his brothers looked really disappointed while shaking their heads. Crane and Seb on the other hand were both stunned by what they heard, both gawking at their cousin. “Did she just call our sister, mutt?” Seb lowly growled and then he glared in Samara’s direction and was about to march up to her when Crane stopped him. “Let me go. That b***h will definitely get it,” Seb hissed at his brother. Shanaia narrowed her eyes at Samara while she didn’t show any sign of remorse as she was still glaring at her. When their eyes met, she saw Samara mouthed the word mutt and it snapped Shanaia’s patience. The tentacles around her grew sharper and they all aimed for Samara. And when she made them attack her cousin, a chair intercepted the attack, breaking the tentacles and its pieces fell on the floor. “That’s enough,” They all turned where the voice was coming from and they saw their grandfather making his way towards them. Samara scrambled up to her feet and began whining. “Grandfather, she is crazy! She was trying to hurt me!” Samara cried as she walked closer to their grandfather. “Stop,” Samael spoke and Samara halted her steps. Samael then turned to look at her. “Shanaia wasn’t trying to hurt you,” he said and Samara gawked at him. “What? You’ve seen what –“ “She wasn’t trying to hurt you because she was thinking of killing you,” Samael coldly said, cutting Samara midsentence. Samara’s eyes widened and then she acted more miserable. “Then it’s worse. She needs to –“ Samara cut herself midsentence when she saw their grandfather turn away from her and walk towards Shanaia. Shanaia stood straight as she looked at her approaching grandfather. She looked straight into the old man’s eyes as if challenging him. Samael stopped in his tracks when he saw his granddaughter’s eyes. “She needs to pay,” Shanaia said as the pieces of the broken ice tentacles floated. Samael looked at them and then he looked at Shanaia again. “This is what your mother was talking about when she sent you here. You need to learn when to control yourself from –“ “She insulted my parents! I will make her pay!” she snapped, cutting off her grandfather. “And she will be reprimanded and receive proper punishment. You cannot just kill someone and ignore the consequences,” Samael said, and then he motioned around them. Shanaia looked around and saw the aftermath of her outburst. When she saw her brothers looking at her, the people looking at her with different emotions, and then the blood on her hands, she inwardly gasped and then her eyes slowly changed back to their normal color, the same time the floating broken ice fell on the floor. “I-I’m s-sorry…” she mumbled. Samael approached her and put his hand on her shoulder. “It’s okay. You are here to learn to control so nothing like this or something worse can happen again,” he told her. Shanaia looked at her grandfather as tears welled around her eyes. “I’m sorry. Please, I don’t want to be someone who hurts people just because I can,” she cried. Samael cupped her face and gave her a reassuring smile. “I am here, and I will help you.” He told her. Seeing how calm their grandfather was as he spoke to Shanaia, Samara marched up to them. “This isn’t –“ She didn’t get to finish what she was saying as Seb appeared behind her and covered her mouth with his hands. Shanaia and Samael looked at them as Samara tried to remove Seb’s hand from her mouth. “Don’t mind her. She is concussed and she needs immediate medical attention,” Seb spoke. “She also needed some counseling. If you excuse us,” Crane added and then he looked at his brother, signaling him to follow him inside the main house. As they left, Samael wiped the blood from Shanaia’s face. “Come now, child. Wash up so we can go on with our training,” he told her and Shanaia nodded. Shanaia made her way inside the main house as well, but Samael stayed behind as he walked closer to his sons. He was particularly looking at his eldest son. “Teach your daughter how to be human with a heart and not become some savage whose mouth spews nothing but profanities,” Samael told his son. Siegfried lowered his head. “I know, Papa. I apologize,” Samael heaved a deep sigh and he made his way back inside the main house, followed by Siegfried. Seve and the others stayed behind and ordered everyone to forget what happened and helped with fixing the mess hall.
