Shanaia went to work the next day, tired and sleepy. She just had to endorse all her patients and make some reports before she properly prepared for the medical mission.
When she got to the hospital, she didn’t even bother to change to her scrubs when she went to meet the other attendings.
She was in the middle of the endorsement when her phone started ringing. She ended the endorsement and excused herself from the crowd before she pulled out her phone from her pocket.
She saw her mother’s name flashed on the screen. She answered the call immediately.

She heard her mother ask.
“In the hospital, where else?”
