Chapter 3 - Keep walking witch

1001 Words
I was standing in the kingdom of superior shifters. I was in the Itulix Kingdom. The mere thought was enough to send a chill down my spine. No doubt the air was thick and the surroundings felt different. But how did I not notice I had crossed the gate? With a gulp, I looked around trying to find my way back but everything looked the same. I clutched the bag tightly and was about to start walking in the direction that would hopefully lead me to the dark forest but I saw two shadows in the distance coming in my direction. Nervously, I tried to find a spot to hide but the trees were of no use. I saw a bush a few steps away and ran to hide behind it just in time as the men were now closer. Two buff men wearing the same dark clothes which seemed like a uniform stood where I was previously standing. I closed my eyes and focused on them trying to read their aura, it was dark and strong. They were the shifters. I had heard stories about their kind, they were known to be merciless and vicious especially their King and the Prince. They hated the witches and would never leave the chance to show how strong they were. Our kingdoms were always on the verge of war until years ago a treaty was made in the presence of elves. The tension still remained thick but no one would dare to disrespect the elves. They were wise and strong and had a good relationship with every kingdom, mostly because no one wanted to cross them. The superior shifters on the other hand wanted to show everyone how strong they were and would never forgive anyone who even thought of crossing them. No one who crossed their gates ever came back. My stomach flipped just by thinking about it. The two men were still standing on the same spot as if they were trying to figure something out. They were strong but didn't seem strong enough to be the royals but even if they were I would not know as I had no idea about their aura. "It is around," one of the men with a beard said in a gruff voice. "We have to take it to the King," the other one answered looking at everything with his green eyes. I gulped and tried not to make even the tiniest sound. I had a very bad feeling they knew I was in their kingdom. I was curled up behind the thick bush, waiting for them to go away. My prayers were finally answered when one of the men pointed towards something on the other side and they both started walking. But unfortunately, it was the same direction from where I came. I waited for a few minutes for them to disappear. When I was sure no one was around I started running with everything I had not caring about the right or the wrong direction. I took a pause to catch my breath but froze in my spot when the rustling of leaves fell into my ears. I took the cover of a tree to shield myself from the unknown person but no one appeared. I didn't move from my spot. It had to be a trap and I was not going to walk into it. A large hand came out of nowhere and covered my mouth. My eyes widened due to the surprise. I tried to remove the hand with both of my hands but it was not working, instead, whoever it was started dragging me. "Stay quiet," a deep voice whispered in my ear. I started kicking and thrashing around in order to escape his tight hold on me but nothing seemed to work. "Can you stop moving? I am trying to help you," he whispered again in frustration. I finally bit his hand when his hold on my mouth got a little loose. He immediately let go of me and started wincing in pain. I finally turned around to see my kidnapper. A large muscular man with wild black hair was staring at me with annoyance in his black eyes. His jaw was very defined and had a small stubble on the chin. "What's your problem?" his thick brows furrowed. "What's my problem? You are the one who was trying to kidnap me." He ran his hand through the dark messy hair, "I was trying to help you but you bit me, you crazy woman." "Help me and how exactly is that?" I folded my arms. "Those were the royal guards and in case you haven't your kind is not really loved by the people of this kingdom." I tried to focus on his aura without taking my eyes away from him. His aura was strong but hard to read. He snapped his fingers in front of me, "Okay, I know I am handsome but can you stop drooling and say thank you first?" My cheeks started getting warm after hearing his words, "I was not drooling," I said defensively. "Sure," he gave me an unimpressed look. "Why did you even help me? You said it yourself your kind hates witches." "I said," he pointed his index finger, "your kind is not loved by the people of this kingdom." I rolled my eyes, "Same thing." "And, I helped you because you looked like you could use some help." I didn't respond to his vague answer. I was not sure if he could be trusted or not. He was also a shifter and why would a shifter help a witch? But it was my only shot. "Can you help me get out of here?" "Hmm," he pretended to think while tapping his chin, "no, you hurt me." He turned around and started walking. I quickly walked after him, "C'mon, I didn't even bite you that hard." He let out a deep chuckle, "Keep walking witch, the guards are coming back."
