It is a torture for Lucas, his invitation to Sofia was a mistake for him.
This wicked, she's trying to pull something here! Well, I better play what is a Lucas Grand.
He was about to snake his arms to her, but Sofia excused herself.
Not so fast, Lucas. She smirked as she headed the restroom.
Sofia entered the room and saw Jennifer on the phone.
"What to do now? I can't let the main event to fail." Jen sounds frustrated.
"Jen, is everything alright?" She asked her cousin.
"Sofia? Yes, thank you for saving my ass! Come here!" Jennifer was in relief seeing her.
"What? I don't understand."
"Please do me a favor, just this time. Okay? No more questions, for now, we don't have time! You look fine and we don't have time for you to change." And Jennifer dragged the clueless Sofia.

Lucas was waiting for her, but she was still not back. He was about to look for her when his mother walked on stage.
Did I just say, I'll search for her? No! That is not happening!
He smirked on his own thought.
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen, the time for our main event has come!" He just smiled seeing his mother.
He already knew the activity and he will not participate to tease his own mother. He can donate after rather than fighting with people in the room. It's not any more fun for him when he is doing it every year.
"I can say that this is different from last year."
You also said that last year, mom! He wanted to shout but he didn't.
"This is a long request from my colleagues for our bachelors in the room."
Lucas was curious about what his mother was talking about. He scans the area and his mother was right, there were a lot of men, same his age.
"Instead of artifacts or antiques to bid, why won't we bid something that these gentlemen can fight with?" His mother said gaining commotions.
What is she talking about?
"Gentlemen this is for you, Bid to Date and Donate!" The woman on stage said proudly.
Fuck! Who gave that idea to my mother?
His mother gave him a smirked when she spotted Lucas. She knows she can earn a lot of money tonight even without his son's donation.
"Let's start with date number one!"
The crowd started to cheer when the woman in a black gown with a mask on, steps in.
His mother started to describe the woman on stage, but Lucas was not interested. He still can donate after the event.
The bidding was done for the five dates and it is for date number six turns now, the second to the last to bid. His mother's lucky number is seven and she always applies that even in the biddings. Lucas can't wait to finish the event.
Where is that woman, by the way? She should be proposing to me right now instead of boring myself in this bidding!
Date number six was called and his mother started to describe the woman.
"She just finished her doctorate last year and after that, she started to manage their business."
The bidders started immediately.
1 Grand! A man shouted.
Lucas decided to take his attention to the woman and when he looked at her, he immediately identifies the woman.
What the f**k, is she doing on that stage?
2 Grand! Another man shouted.
Do you choose to be there over your proposal?
"She tops the licensure exam last month and.."

What? They are buying that. Lucas can't believe those men and he was irritated.
Sofia was already nervous on stage. This is her first time participating in this kind of event. She can't believe her cousin let her do it. She was like selling herself in front of those men. What makes her nervous more is the description of herself? She never had the intention to brag all of them especially in this kind of event.
The bid went higher even if the description of date number six is not, yet all given. Mariana Grand about to read the last two descriptions of her but she feels hesitant about it. She can't believe the unknown woman is inexperienced in her age. She wanted to meet the woman; she already likes her.
Mariana continued, date number six is her gem and in return, she will do something for her, the unexpected twist of The Bid to Date and Donate. This will mark as first in the history of bidding, but she will do it to protect the woman.
"Lastly, date number six had never been to dates and no boyfriend since birth," Mariana announced with guilt.
Sofia was so shocked hearing the last description of her, how did it happen? It was just announced to the crowd and she was embarrassed as hell!
Lucas almost chokes by his own breath. He can't believe his mother would say that! But Sofia's demeanor on stage says it all.

Lucas now gets it. That's why the woman is so naive and clueless when they met.

Fucking bastards! Lucas gritted his teeth. The more the price gets higher the more Sofia gets nervous and he saw it.

"Higher than 120?" Mariana said just doing her job for tonight.

A man shouted, surprising Mariana. It was her son, her son that never participate in a bid. Aha! Is it because of the last description of her? She won't allow that date number six will fall in the hands of her own son. She knows his son enough.
"Higher than 200?" She asked but only silence answered her.
"This is your last chance, 200 or higher?" She asked one more time, he doesn't want her son to win her.
Lucas was irritated to his mother; it was very clear that no one will fight his 200 and yet she asked for more? How badly she needed a donation?
Fine, I'll satisfy you, mom!
"500! And it's a deal, take it or leave it!" He said cockily to his own mother.
Sofia was shocked again, not because of the price but because of Lucas. How can he bid in that amount of money? And she knew it! He is after her! She wanted to run now.
"500 grand and it's a deal!"
Sofia's knees weakened. What will happen next? She was bought for 500 grand for nothing, she read about biddings too and it is something doing things the bidders wanted them to do.
My God! This is not happening!

Sofia was so thankful after hearing it. And Lucas was hating his mother even more!
