1.Pregnancy hormones

FELICITY POV “Ugh, how in the world am I supposed to concentrate with your pup kicking me every chance she gets?” I yelled, loudly enough for Parker to hear from the kitchen. Looking down at my very swollen belly, I sigh. It’s exhausting being pregnant, but it’s almost over. I’m currently in my fourth month with only one more to go. I hear footsteps and Parker pops his head into the c***k in the doorway. “She’s probably just hungry. If she’s anything like her dad, she is kicking because she can hear the sizzling of the bacon I’m cooking.” Parker said, giving me a wink before disappearing down the doorway. I heard his footsteps heading back towards the kitchen. I rubbed a hand over my round belly. “Is that all it is? You just want some bacon?” I asked my belly, feeling silly for asking questions to our unborn pup. On cue, my stomach rumbled, receiving another swift kick from little Lena. “That answers my question.” I chuckled to myself, swinging my legs over the side of the bed and placing the assignment I was working on next to the lamp on the end table. Standing up was a whole task anymore. I could no longer see my feet while standing. They say our pup is on the smaller side, but I’m started to question their judgement looking at the roundness of my belly. Waddling slowly into the kitchen, I stop, taking in the delicious smell of breakfast cooking. Parker rushes over, walking me to a chair, pulling it out, and helping me sit down. I look up at him “While I appreciate the gesture, I’m pregnant, not incapacitated.” I scolded. He gave me a big smile “You take care of my little princess, and I take care of you.” He leans down, pecking my lips before returning to the kitchen. “I think you were right about the bacon. Is everything almost done? I’m starving.” Parker chuckled at my eagerness. We have the sweetest mate, Iris purred in my head. Yes we do, I responded to her. He walked over, hands full with a plate, syrup, and a tall glass of orange juice. After setting them down, he headed back to the kitchen to make his own. “Mmmmmmm. Parker, this is amazing.” I moaned, taking a bite of the most delicious french toast I’ve ever had. Parker looks at me wide eyed. “Woman, if you keep moaning like that, we are most definitely not going to be finishing breakfast. At least not while it’s hot.” I felt my cheeks flame, biting my bottom lip. I took my hand, motioning a zipper to my lips. Moan again, I could use a second breakfast, Iris said seductively in my head. I nearly choked on the bite I had just taken. Parker shook his head and I couldn’t help but giggle. “Thank you for making breakfast this morning. I really needed to get started on my paper.” Parker took a bite of bacon, “Of course. Anything for my girls. How is the paper going?” I narrowed my eyes at him “You should not speak with a mouthful of food, but it’s coming easier than I expected. I’m actually almost done. Once I finish it and turn it in, it’ll be exams and then I will officially be done!” I explained excitedly. It was always a dream of mine to become a teacher. As soon as I knew I had my life back, it just felt right to pursue it. “Always so proper...” Parker huffed. “Anyways, I’m so proud of you. You’re going to be an amazing teacher. All of the pups will love you.” I couldn’t help the smile the spread across my face. It felt good to finally have everything falling into place after spending so long assuming my life would never amount to anything. “What do you have planned for the day after you finish your paper?” Parker asked. “I’m meeting Cami around lunch. We are going to eat and then I’m accompanying her to her doctor’s appointment since Kai is out of town.” Cami just found out that she was expecting a pup with Alpha Kai. We are over the moon about being pregnant together and having pups so close in age. “Congratulate her for me. I hate that we have been so busy with training that the four of us haven’t had a chance to get together in a while.” Parker said, sadness lacing his words. Ever since we found out about the humans looking to hunt us, he has stepped up training for our warriors. As of now, Parker is the only wolf here with a special ability, but we know that Helena has a high chance of also having healing powers, and Parker is taking the threat very seriously. I don’t blame him. The fear of losing either of them to some sick circus causes my heart to constrict painfully. I feel tears stinging my eyes and before I know it, they are falling freely. Parker rushes over, squatting down next to my seat. “What’s wrong baby?” he asks while tipping my chin to look him in the eyes. “I was just thinking about those horrible people capturing those of us with special abilities. I can’t lose you. I can’t lose our pup.” I was sobbing now. Stupid pregnancy hormones make it hard to control my emotions. “Look at me. If I have any say in this, they will be dead before they lay a finger on you or our pup. Don’t stress about it. We are training hard to make sure we are prepared in the event that they would find us.” Parker wiped the tears from my cheeks. He stood, pulling me up with him, and wrapping me in a hug. My belly pushed a little distance between us. He rubbed his hand up and down my back, the tingle of our bond soothing my emotions. “I’m sorry. I just thought about how scary the situation would be if they found us and my emotions got the best of me.” Parker leaned down, capturing my lips in a gentle, but dominating kiss. He leaned his forehead to mine. “I will protect you both with my life.” He whispered. I took a deep breath, calming myself down. “I love you.” He smiled “And I love you more.” I reluctantly put distance between us, knowing that he needed to get going if he wanted to be on time for training and I needed to focus on writing my paper. Parker picked up the plates off of the table, placing them in the sink, before quickly changing into basketball shorts and a loose t-shirt. “Be safe today. Don’t be too hard on the warriors.” You should tell him he should go hard on us, if you know what I mean, Iris piped. Pregnancy hormones getting to you too, I quipped. I heard her grumble before going silent. Sometimes I wish I could seriously tune her out. He leaned in, pecking my lips quickly. “They won’t learn anything if I go easy on them. Love you.” “Love you.” I said as he rushed out the door. Time to finish this paper and get ready for lunch with Cami.
