I see the desert in which I met the other side of me. I was looking at the ground, and I feel like I am drifting away from it. It feels like the sky is pulling me closer. Then I saw the other me. He smirked as he looked at me with that fierce eyes. I never knew I could make a face like that, or is it just the bearer of that face isn't me? I couldn't explain. I could tell that this is a lucid dream because I am aware that this is a dream. Or is it?
I opened my eyes for real, and I have this feeling of pain all over my body. I found myself on the bed, looking at a white ceiling. I looked at my left without turning my neck, there is a man clad in a futuristic battlesuit, peeling an apple. He just looked me in the eyes without saying anything. I felt awkward, so I reverted back my eyes.
"Who-"
"I am Enzo," he said.
"I am-"
"Leonide Padine, I know."
I am getting a familiar vibe about him. I wonder where I got that from. Although he looks calm, I can tell that he is a strong warrior. Those eyes fixed on the apple, has the intent of getting it done surely. But what am I even thinking? Assuming based on a trivial thing. That never works in my logical perspective. He sliced the apple into thin pieces, while I found my glasses on the desk beside me that I put away before taking the endurance test.
"What happened to me?" I asked even if I don't know if he does.
"I punched you in the gut then you came flying above the clouds."
"WHAT?!!" I exclaimed. "I don't remember having a fight with you or anyone! I was trying to pass the endurance training! Please be serious, Mr. Enzo."
"First off, that's Lord Enzo for you, and I am not kidding that I punched you in the gut and you flew past the clouds."
"Lord Enzo?"
"The God of Demigods, brat!" said someone behind the cubicle curtain. Could be a patient, and I don't know why he's angry at me. Then I saw him in a wheelchair, being pushed by a nurse. They passed by from my right to the left that which I think is where the exit is located. The guy looked at me in despise.
"What's his deal?" I asked.
"You're the one who did that to him."
I looked at Enzo in confusion. "What do you mean? Wait, what is happening? What has happened? What did I do? How-"
"Too many questions," he said in a serious tone. "We can't talk about many things at the same time, can we?"
"Pardon me," I apologized.
He stood up and looked around as a strong breeze blew the curtains then he nodded. Then he returned to his chair. What did he nod for?
"Talk about the things I will tell you, and I will bury you myself."
Yikes! What is this about?
"I hate talking, but the King wants me to explain things to you."
"What King? The Olympus King? I mean... The King of Olympus?"
"Yes, who else you think I am talking about?"
"What? For real?!!" I can't believe it! The King asked him to tell me about something? That means I am a significant person for him! This is too good to be true.
"Stop talking and let me talk." I nodded and he continued. First, he told me what happened before he came down from Olympus. The story is the story the supervisors told him, and he continued to when he arrived at the incident. I can't believe the things he said, because I didn't remember doing all of it. Also, I don't have the strength to do all that.
"You might be wondering how you did these things, so listen carefully to what I am gonna say to you. It is very important that you know, for you to avoid what happened to happen again." He took a break for a second as he put the sliced apple on top of the shelf beside him. I reached for a slice and he stopped my hand. "This is not for you, this is mine."
What? I thought that was mine because I thought people give sick people food such as apples. "Oh...," I said in disappointment.
"There's a demon residing in the Gods of Gravity." I shuddered after hearing those words. "That demon's name is Zol. Did you had a talk to him?"
"Uhh... Yes, I did had a talk with him.... In my mind."
"What did he say to you?"
I told him everything, and he looks like he already knew it all. He wasn't even interested in hearing what I said. He nodded and fell silent for a moment as he chewed on his apples. I waited for him.
"There are truths in what Zol said to you, but he lied about one thing. It is true that you are the first to have a conversation with him, but he lied about saying that you are the first one he was able to control. The first incident that happened was in the year 1784 with the Goddess of Gravity. This has been kept a secret until now. She is a human born out of poverty in human society. Her name is Gretel. That time, the prejudice of demigods against humans was discernible. And there was a plague that a rogue God of Disease had spread."
"Not the God of Death?"
"No, they are different. The Olympians were struggling to control the disease spreading, so there were suffering and pain everywhere. The Goddess of Gravity fell depressed amidst the sorrowful times. That's when she realized that she is weak. She wished that she was born strong. Zol took advantage of the poor goddess and took over her body. His intention is to do the right thing, regardless of the way. He has this idea of killing the infected people and burn them, so he did it in a single night, without the Olympians knowing about it. He burned hospitals where the infected people were taken care of. He killed people on the streets that showed the symptoms, even if it is unconfirmed. He has supersonic speed, so doing it fast, was not even a challenge to him. That night, the Olympians saw this horror that filled the dark skies around Olympus. Zol was caught by the God of Sand, Varhol - the King of Olympus at that time that came down from Olympus himself. He interrogated Zol that at first he thought was still Gretel, but found out later on. He named him the name, Zol - that means a 'bad leaf' that has to be plucked away from the tree. So he did pluck him away, by intentionally making the following gods and goddesses of Gravity die early in missions. The following Kings and Queens of Olympus have been secretly briefed about this so that Varhol can wash his hands from the ultimate sin that he entrusted to his successors. As well as his name won't be tarnished, but everything's different now. King Rai is changing the Realm for the better."
That's right, no demigod has ever been a god on Olympus. "Are you really just a demigod?"
"I am."
So he really is. "That's awesome," I sighed. "Some people are just born with amazing talent." My head became a little dizzy, and I am hearing the voice of Zol again. It terrifies me!
"Stop thinking like that. I am not born with amazing talent."
"What?" My head feels a little better.
"I was a weak demigod, but I became a god on Olympus by hard work. Do you think being strongest is something you are born with? Well, you're dead wrong. Zol will take over your mind and body again if you keep thinking like that. Fight it."
He's right. When I met Zol, I thought about how weak and unlucky I am. Maybe that's why he took over me, just like what happened to Gretel. Everything Enzo said to me made me understand what does mean to be a God of Gravity now. I must remember this.
"I will!"
"Good," he nodded and stood up.
He walked to the exit, but I asked, "Where are you going?"
"To my office. I am your Physical Endurance instructor now."
"WHAT???!"
