My Dad brought us food. He bought it from outside. It was just as I needed because the Recovery Medicine made me hungry, and I also noticed that one piece of it cannot heal as fast like before, so I took an extra, and ate the food they brought.
"Man, this is good," I said while munching the beef and buns.
"By the way, son," said Dad. "I see that you found a girlfriend!" Mom slapped his elbow.
"What?" I exclaimed. "What are you talking about?"
Scratching his head he said, "There was a-"
Mom continued, "There was a girl the same age as you that visited you before us. She came out of the door just as we arrived there. At your age, you better not be messing around with girls!" Dad laughed and he receives a kick in the knee.
"What?" I exclaimed. "I don't even have a girl as an acquaintance! But do you know who she was?"
"How should we know?" said Mom angrily, looking to the side.
"Just tell me what does she looked like!"
"She wore a black jacket and jeans," said Dad. "As for her face, we didn't see it, because she shrouded herself with her hood. We tried to ask who she was, but when I chased her, she just disappeared."
I wonder who that is... And why visit me? "Did she do anything to me?" I asked.
"Don't start thinking of weird ideas!" growled Mom as she struck my head.
"Ouch! I don't know what you are talking about!" I am so confused, what does she mean?
"Mom," said Hera. "What do you mean by weird?"
She laughed nervously and said, "Nothing dear."
Dad laughed and she glared at him, then he covered his mouth, and swallowed. "Be careful son," he said with a serious face. "This is the District of Demigods. There are things going on that humans like us cannot understand." I nodded. "If you want to learn some moves about," He poked me with his elbow. "if you know what I mean, don't hesitate to ask me," he said in a whisper.
Mom punched him in the face, and he fell on the ground. Me and Hera panicked as he fell unconscious on the floor.
The door swung open and a man in a suit said, "Mrs. and Mr. Padine, let me show you to your quarters. We'll take care of your son in the meantime. And...," He saw Dad on the ground. "Does he need help?"
My Mom smiled and said, "He's okay, I'll just need a wheelchair to carry him with us."
"Uh... Okay, ma'am. Right this way," he said while stepping aside to let Mom carry Dad on her shoulder through the door.
"Take care, Leo," she said to me.
"I will," I replied, then she went out while holding Hera's hand with her right hand.
"Do you need help ma'am?" asked the man.
"I'm fine," she said with a kind smile. I got goosebumps.
"Bye-bye, big-bro Leo!" said Hera while waving her hand. I waved back, and they closed the door. She's so cute. I am alone in this room again. I touched the back of my head, and I realized that the wound is a little better now, but it is still not fully healed yet. Then I got this feeling of thirst in my throat. That one bottle of juice wasn't enough.
Someone knocked at the door, so I said, "Come in." It was Philip and Sander, and they are not wearing their armors anymore.
"Leo!" yelled Sander. "Thank goodness you're okay!"
I see that they are the only visitors. "Yes, thank you." Philip looked at me in a serious face. I can't find any words to say after I punched him in the gut earlier. "How about you, Philip?" I asked.
He folded his arms and said, "Yes, are your wounds okay now?"
"Yes," I nodded.
"Can you stand up?" he said in a straight face. I don't know what's going on, but I did what he said and got out of the bed. He walked towards me and said, "Are you sure you're fine?"
"I guess so...," I said while nervously smiling.
"Good," he said and I felt pain in my stomach. He punched me very hard like how I punched him earlier. I crawled on the floor.
"Philip!" said Sander. "Have you gone mad? He's still-"
"It's okay," I said while coughing. "I deserved that." I was watching my hands on the floor as I saw another hand. I looked up and it was Philip.
"Get up," he said. I grabbed his hand, and he pulled me up. "You're a very reckless i***t. I could've handled the man with a club. Do you think I'm weak?"
"I'm sorry, Philip," I apologized. "I didn't want you to lose, because your father came from Mars just to see you fight, so-"
"My father only wants to see if how strong I have become! And you just took that away from me! You disabled me because you thought I was weak! WELL, YOU ARE WRONG! I trained very hard these past three months, and I am stronger than I was before!" I just closed my eyes, feeling guilty of making him angry. He said, "But, thank you for putting us before yourself," in a calm voice while looking to the side. And he put his fist in front of him.
I bumped my fist against his and said, "You're welcome," while smiling. Sander joined us too. I think we're good now.
"Let's go have some drink," said Sander. "It's my treat!"
"Alright!" said both of us.
We went out of the room, and he took us to a vending machine. It was not what I expected, so I said. "For a second I thought you meant by 'drink' was booze, Sander."
"What?" he exclaimed as he put coins in the machine. "We're still minors! It's obvious that we can't drink alcohol."
"I thought so too," said Philip. "I even wondered about how it feels to be drunk while we walked."
"You guys really got the wrong idea!" he said while handing us our orange juices.
We drank it there and it was very delicious. We leaned against the wall. Sander is in the middle and Phillip is at his right. We were focused on our beverage that we didn't talk, so I guess I will have to tell them about what dad told me earlier. They might have some ideas.
"So guys," I said and they looked towards me. "While I was passed out, did you see a girl with a black hooded jacket and jeans entered my room?"
"No," said Sander.
"Nuh-uh," said Philip. "We couldn't visit you earlier, because my stomach was still hurting."
"My elbow was hurting," said Sander.
"Oh," I said. "Sorry I asked. Never mind then. So, could you guys tell me about the second round?"
"That's where the real tournament starts," said Philip.
"Yeah," said Sander. "there are sixteen of us, and we are divided into two blocks. We belong in block A, while Philip belongs in B. What's interesting about it, is that our first opponents are all Icarus's allies. My opponent is Mark that also wields a sword and a shield. Philip will face Bob, the fat one, and you will face that girl who tore up your sister's picture."
I fell silent. I wanted to make her pay for what she's done, but that resentment already left me as I realized something. The reason for her tearing that picture is to please Icarus so that he can have her as his ally. In that way, she made it this far. We are the same, we were weak, and we need someone to back us up. It's time to forget that and live in the present, as Lord Enzo taught me.
There was a long silence, and after a few minutes, Sander spoke, "I was wondering, why did Darius save you?"
"I was thinking the same thing," said Philip.
"I don't know," I said.
"You said that he was the first kid you met in the academy, right?" asked Sander, and I nodded. "And the first one who provoked you, so why on earth did he save you?"
"Why indeed?" added Philip.
"As far as I know," I said. "We fought about a month ago, and that's after I finished my training with Lord Enzo. He said that I have to find a demigod to fight against for experience, and I happened to cross him while I was on my way back to the academy."
"Really?" asked Sander. "He's a monster back in the first round, and you fought him? Did you win?"
"Actually, after we fought for hours, it was a draw."
"Wow," said Sander. "You managed to fight toe-to-toe with that-"
"Speaking of which-" said Philip as he nodded to his right, and we saw Darius.
He looked at me furiously. "God of Gravity!" he yelled. "Yet again, we haven't settled our fight! I will beat you in the championship round, SO YOU BETTER NOT LOSE!!!"
I said, "So that's why...," Sander and Philip looked at me. "You don't have to tell me, because I am planning to win it if I'm gonna be the King of Olympus." Their jaw dropped. Darius smirked and passed by in front of us.
"Are you serious?" asked Philip.
"Of course," I said.
