KATY
I woke up as early as possible with excitement soaring through me and that was because of what happened last night. When I clicked on Darnell's message, I couldn't contain my joy. I was on top of the moon that I couldn't hold in my shout. Amy was startled and I wouldn't be surprised if mom wakes up or even our neighboring people. I don't know what I would do without Darnell. She's my princess in shining armor it there's something like that.
I don't know how she got the offer but she said one of her colleagues who is in New York spoke about looking for a replacement at her job due to personal reasons. I was overexcited that I didn't even ask Darnell about the job. I trust she won't get me a job that isn't good. I will have to find out myself when I reached the place or company for my interview which is what I'm preparing for at the moment.
When I get the job, I will be able to take care of some expenses. The most important one is paying off my debt. The man could come anytime and anytime he visits, it doesn't end pleasantly.
Making sure all my required documents are intact, my eyes roamed around the room one more time stopping at my sister who was splattered on the bed, her snores revamping lazily. I was so engrossed in my job interview that I completely forgot about her. Using my foot, I nudged her leg.
"Sleepyheads, I think it's high time you wake up. You can't afford to be late for school "
"Uh...Katy have you forgotten yesterday was Saturday and today is Sunday, which means I can sleep however I want to" I could barely hear what she was uttering with the way her face was dugged into the pillow. A small smile made its way to my lips. Reaching for the shoe next to me, I laid it on her butt.
She jerked up immediately glancing around "Oh my God who was that?" she remarked her chest heaving up and down. My hands were folded as I stared at her with the corner of my lips raised.
"When you're done checking out the room, then get yourself ready for school. I've already prepared the hangover soup for mom. I'm off" the puzzled look on her face was dimmed visible. Yet, I have other things to do than listen to her acts.
As I set foot through the living room, I stopped amidst walk turning to my mom's door. I contemplate whether to check up on her or not. After much thinking, I chose the latter. I know she won't remember what happened last night. At least there would be less awkwardness. I didn't waste time in getting out of the house. As usual, I spotted Mrs. Theodora with her husband, Mr.Sam in a matching outfit. They look cute together. If cute is the right word for me to use.
Waving at them lightly, I made my way to the road, where I used to wait for the morning bus. I didn't sit for more than five minutes when the bus arrived. I fished out my phone and texted Darnell. The reply didn't come immediately like yesterday, so I withdrew my earplugs and connect it to my phone.

Curiosity washed over me as I stared at the building in front of me. The company was not enormous or small, I will rather call it medium. SG was adorned holding on top of the building. What does the SG stand for? I found myself asking my inner self. I should've asked Darnell what type of company it is. If it's even a company.
Why do you care about what type of company it is? As far as you will be given the job, then you have nothing to care about. My inner mind spoke up again. Brushing off the first thought, I heaved out a sigh, steadying my bag.
Katy, Let's do this!
I made my way toward the entrance door finding it empty. I thought every company has a security guard at the entrance door. I didn't waste time to dwell on the thought. I alighted inside. It was unexpectedly quiet and a bit grey inside. My eyes scanned the surrounding. The quietness sending crippled goosebumps onto my body. Is it the place I was supposed to get interviewed in or did I got the wrong address?
"Welcome to..."
"Oh my God!" I flinched at the whispered voice from beside me. A figure emerged from under the receptionist's desk. A woman who looked almost the same age as me stared at me with a smile on her face. For some unknown reason, I find her smile weird or much to say she looks weird. The weakness I felt down my legs as she made her way towards me made me tighten my hold on my bag.
She stood a few inches away from me, the smile not leaving her face. "Welcome to SG company, my name is Michelle"
"And If I'm not mistaken, you must be the lady who will be taking over Vanessa's position" she ended forming her lips in a thin line.
The way my heart was thumping fast, tells me I should turn around and leave but one part of me knew that this is my last card. I might not get another opportunity.
"Yes, my name is Katy. Katy Trent" I let out slowly.
"Oh what a nice name. You're welcome. Trust me, you'll enjoy working for our company. SG company offer their staffs and customers the best services"
"Service?" I repeated.
"Yes, dear. Follow me" she steered, drawing her hand toward a brown wooden door. I followed her heed.
"Are you married?" I stopped amidst walk at her sudden question.
"No. Why?"
She turned to me, placing her hand on my shoulder. "Look, Katy, if you want this job, then you have to be a married woman or engaged. That way it will make your work easier." If to say I'm not surprised at her statement, then I would be lying. What type of job is it that you must be married or engaged?
"Why is it for the married? And most of all what type of job is it?" I waited for her to answer me, instead, she patted my shoulder and turn towards the door.
She pushed the door open and yet another quietness embraces me. This time around, the room wasn't dark like the reception. I could make out the surrounding. A middle-aged woman sat at the farther end of the room, a small smoke resonating from her hand which I immediately recognize as smoking.
"Good day Mrs. Bladye, here's the lady who will be taking over Vanessa's position," Michelle said in all seriousness as if she wasn't the one all smiling to me few minutes ago. The woman didn't say anything only puff out a cloud of smoke.
"I will leave her to you Mrs. Bladye" Michelle ushered again, bow her head, and then left, leaving me staring into space. Preferably, at the woman.
"Have a seat" she spoke up. If not because of how visible her face was, I could've sworn she was a male by her manlike voice. I gently took the seat facing her, positioning both my hands at my side.
"Name"
"Katy. Katy Trent"
"Age"
Why is she asking about my age? Instead of my document.
"25"
"Are you married?"
