Diane chewed her gum loudly, she snapped a bubble. With the next bubble, Landen grabbed the gum from her mouth before she could pop it. Diane frowned. " I just got that gum workable to make bubbles." He smiled. " Honey, we are starting the show in 1 minute. No gum please." Diane nodded. "Right, we are true professionals right?" He glanced at her sideways. " Diane did you just fart?" This was the opening comment on the morning show as they went live. Diane turned red. Landen laughed." Well, there it is the reality of our morning show folks, gas and all." The lines lit up as callers were already lined up to give their 2 cents. Diane started with traffic. " I-5 is backed up to the fricking south pole as usual. Don't even think about using the 405. There are cars hearding cats out there. All over the place people. Can any of you just wait and stop jockeying around. Of course the rain will cause many of you to speed up and then skid to a stop narrowly missing the car ahead of you. Ohhh...there we go. Accident on the 5 near Federal way. Looks like Karen didn't get the rain memo. She smacked right into Mario Andretti there." Landen drank his coffee. He played a string of songs that included rain in their lyrics. " Daine can you scratch my back. This vest. It's driving me crazy." She stood up and removed her head set. She took her pencil and jammed the eraser end down his vest. He sighed,"Yes, yes Diane give it to me hard girl!" The producers laughed. They had fun watching these two's antics. Diane told him to just take the damn thing off. Landen shook his head. I know it's been over a month with no word from Sera ot Blaze, but she was very adamant that I wear it. I think we should get you one too. I will ask officer Jenny at dinner tonight. The three of them had been meeting at the White horse bar every night after work. They were getting quite chummy now. Jenny didn't have any siblings. She wanted to adopt Landen and Diane. They were as close as she would get to family. She had grown to love them. Those two were funny, they finished each others sentences. She thought that they must have been twins in another life. The man watched them as they entered the White horse bar. That lady cop was always with them now. He couldn't get close. He had to cool it for a while. He still watched. He told Landen his name was Chris Denial when he had met him. His real name was Christina Haddick. He always went by Chris. He identified as a male as his grandmother had raised him that way. Chris received a call from the radio station, he had applied for a job there as night janitor. He got the job. He would be able to play his games then. He liked to spy on other people. He always played the invisible game. He would hide in their closets and watch them. That dumb TV weatherman, Jim Castle caught him. He didn't want to kill him, but he didn't want him to tell the cops either. He had to die. Jim was happy to invite him to his bed the first time. He even tried to have s*x with him, when he found out that he didn't have the right parts, he was angry. Chris came back the next night and rummaged through his things. He had heard the door open suddenly and he ducked into Jim's closet. Jim saw his things were moved. He was observant. He pulled the closet open and almost had a heart attack seeing Chris hiding in there. They got into a fight. Chris pulled his garrot. He took Jim down and killed him. He actually liked to remember that night. He tried to make it look like a suicide. The dumb cop at Landen's almost caught him. She had his shoe. He hated her. He might take her out next. But first Landen dies. A few nights later... Landen forgot his wallet at the radio station. He asked Diane to give him a ride back so he could run in and grab it. They were meeting Jenny for dinner. He stepped onto the elevator. He pushed 3 and rode up to the office. There was a janitor up there so he felt comfortable being there. He stepped into the studio. " Where is my wallet?" He looked around. The janitor approached. He was dressed in all black. He asked Landen,"you lose something Landen." The way the man had said his name gave him chills. It was him. The caller. Landen nervously laughed, his back was to the man. He picked up the phone to call for help. The man grabbed him from behind. Landen fought. He pulled away and tried to run. The man laughed loudly. " Let's play!" He ran after Landen. Diane was tired if waiting she called Jenny to tell her they would be late. A shot rang out. " Jenny a gun shot, Landen! He's in the radio station. I'm going in there." Jenny told her to stay put,"I'm on my way." Landen lay on the floor, he had been shot in the back. Chris was leaning over him. Landen was moaning in pain. "You are so dumb. I mean you should have just played the damn game." Landen was wearing the vest. Landen grabbed Chris' foot and pulled him down. He elbowed him in the gut and took off running. Chris leaned over holding his stomach. He growled and ran after Landen. Landen took the stairs, Chris was behind him. Landen came tearing out of the building. " Diane!!!! Hurry please." He called out to her. She saw Chris right behind him. Diane reved up her engine and drove straight for Chris. Landon swerved and Diane turned the other way, she ran straight into Chris and Landen fell back from the momentum landing on the cement. He was safe. Until Jenny drove up and ran him over in her cop car. She wasn't able to stop. She had rounded the corner into the parking lot going too fast. She slammed on the brakes, too late Landen was struck. He rolled over, he moaned in pain. Chris was killed instantly by Diane. Jenny called an ambulance Landen was taken to the hospital. He had internal bleeding. The doctor came out to talk to them. " He needs a kidney transplant." Diane volunteered. He shook his head, unless you are family, most likely you won't be a match for him. She nodded sadly. "Try me anyway, just in case." Jenny also got tested. The doctor came back an hour later. " Well, you are a perfect match Diane, let's get you prepped for surgery." Diane smiled. " A perfect match, wow." Landen had the surgery, he lay on the bed next to his donor. She smiled at him and grabbed his hand. He said,"Did you get that creep?" She nodded. " Killed her with my car." He shook his head. " She? " " Yeah he was a she all along." Landon shut his eyes, relaxing. Jenny came in, tears in her eyes. "I ran you over, I'm so sorry Landen." He held his hand out to her. "Jenny, you're buying all of the drinks forever." She agreed.
