Waking up a few hours later, I was in the hospital. Oh thank God!
But that relief was shut down by thinking about my mom. Did she die, or did she just want me dead?
Mom wouldn't do that, and she loves her children too much to let a simple heartbreak overcome her.
Well, I'm not sure how heartbreaks work, but no woman would choose to die instead of taking care of her kids.
Where is anyone in this ward?
I think I'm dying again because right now I'm starting to shake. It was kind of a tremor in my hands, and my heart was pounding again.
Fuck ! !.
I woke up again the following day, I don't even remember sleeping, but at least I didn't die. I was just kept on the ward overnight for persistent tachycardia after prednisone and after the symptoms subsided.
" Hello, Cassie, are you feeling okay ? ". Said Kate.
" I thought I would never saw you again. " I said, hugging her tightly.
" Please don't leave me ". She answered, hugging me back.
" Well, the devil keeps trying to rush me, but I'm not dying anytime soon. " I said, grinning at her, and I was really to see my best friend again.
" I came here as soon as I heard from your father this morning. " Said Kate.
" Where is he, by the way ? ". I asked, not seeing him.
" He is probably still at his house. " Kate answered.
" Hey, yesterday, were you at home around 4 or 5? " I asked, wanting to be sure, and I knew she would never lie to me.
" Yes, I was at home. I'm very sorry, baby. Just know I'm always here for you. " She said, hugging me again.

I kept repeating those three words in my mind as I tried not to think about my mother's death.
" So she is dead ? ". I asked Kate.
" What! Who ? ". She asked, shocked.
" My mother. " I said, looking down.
" Well, if that's how you are taking it, I won't judge because she left you guys for a much younger guy. " Said Kate.
" What! Who. It was my turn to be shocked.
" Your mother dummy, are you okay ? ". She asked.
" What if she is not dead ? ". I asked.
" No, she is not dead. She just packed her bags and took her passport and left with a younger guy driving a Bently. I was only visiting you; that's when I heard your father and her shouting at each other. " Kate explained to me, but I was lost.
" What !.. but..what ! " . words could not come out of my mouth.
" How could she lie to me ? ".
" Why would she even lie ? ".
" Do you know the guy she left with? I asked Kate, at least hoping to talk with my mom.
" No, I have never seen that guy before ? ". Kate answered.
" f**k ! ". I cursed out loud.
" Go and wash that mouth, young lady. " Said Mr Lewis, walking beside my bed. I suddenly felt a little warmth on my cheeks.
" I'm sorry. " I said in a shallow voice.
" How are you feeling ? ". He asked, sitting in the chair next to my bed.
' Betrayed by my mom and nervous with you next to me, ' I thought, but then I simply smiled and said, " I'm fine, thank you for asking. "
" You wouldn't be in this bed if you were okay. Really how are you ? ". He asked. I swear I felt like screaming with joy, but I couldn't. I was still in the hospital with a lot of patients suffering from different and many more diseases than me.
" I feel a lot better than when I got here, well, I don't remember how I got here, but I'm better. " I answered, smiling at him, and I couldn't look in his eyes, so I don't know what his reaction was.
"That sounds great. You're being discharged. Your dad couldn't come, so he asked me. " He said, and I was shocked.
" Don't you have work to go to ? ". I asked, looking at his face, ' Holy crackers, he gets sexier by the day. '
" Well, yeah, but then I couldn't let you stay here the whole day, now would I ? ". He asked, grinning, That's when I thanked God for being in the hospital bed because my entire body just got shivers, so I simply pulled the blanket over me.
I won't even talk about the cardiac event monitor on top of me; it was beating repeatedly, and I was nervous, that even made it beat even more. If I had known how to take it out or switch it off, I would have been saved from the embarrassment.
" Hey, are you okay ? ". Kate asked.
" Yeah, why ? ". I asked why they keep asking me that.
" It's just that thing has been beeping non-stop, is it supposed to be beeping like that ? ". She asked.
I looked at Mr Lewis before answering but he had a delighted smirk on his face
" Can someone please help me with a nurse to help me out? I need to go home. " I said, running away from the question.
" Okay, I will be right back. " Said Kate leaving.
Mr Lewis, standing up, put the bag he had on top of me. " I'm glad you're still with us ". He said, leveling his face with mine
' Can someone switch off this thing '. I thought, looking away from him, he just chuckled and then left.
I let out a long breath before, finally, the doctor came.
