8. Deep Trouble

Harry's voice echoed in the grand meeting room. Silence enveloped the room. Harry felt foolish, expecting sneers for proposing the marriage of the gentle and kind Princess to a monster. He wished the ground would open up and swallow him whole. "Alpha Levi wants to marry his daughter to my son?" Alpha Richard c****d his brow, ensuring he had heard correctly. Harry was taken aback that Richard was actually considering this proposal. It was strange, yet sensible at the same time, as Richard might want a grandchild someday. Or perhaps there was another hidden purpose behind his thought process, as he shared a conversation with Beta William over mind-link, while Egon seemed to merely listen in. At the end of the day, it was Alpha Richard's decision to make, and no one could oppose him. If Alpha Richard refused the proposal, then Harry would be doomed, as Alpha Levi would settle for nothing less than success. However, Harry's heart was filled with guilt for delivering the Princess into the doors of hell. Richard and William finished their mind-link, and Harry straightened his back in anticipation of an answer. "Alpha, what do you think of the proposal?" Harry asked, his polite tone barely concealing his own terror of possibly having to receive a refusal. His heart raced in his chest as he looked at Richard's calm expression, desperately seeking hope. "I accept the marriage proposal..." Alpha Richard began to say, but he was cut off by Alpha Prince Egon. "I REFUSE!" Egon declared, his voice echoing throughout the meeting hall. Harry clenched his shaking fist and tightly closed his eyes. How could the Alpha Prince commit such a huge act of disrespect like interrupting the Alpha? To make matters worse, he had done it in front of the peacemaker and had also refused to get married. "Egon, this is what I have decided," Alpha Richard tried to sound casual, but his displeasure was clearly evident on his face. "It is not what I have decided. Father, you didn’t ask me, you just told me. This isn’t what I want, I refuse this marriage!" Egon got up from his chair, quickly followed by Beta Alex. Panic surged through Harry as Egon approached him. "Do you understand?" Alpha Prince Egon asked him. Harry quickly nodded, not wanting to incur his wrath. He couldn't believe that Egon had not only disrespected his father, but also his decision. It was evident that Alpha Richard could control anyone and everyone, except his own son, Alpha Prince Egon. Harry found this situation strangely familiar. It was exactly the same with Alpha Levi, he could control everyone except Princess Emily. It amused him that Alpha Richard and Alpha Levi, two men that were friends and known for their cruelty, could not control their own child. How was this even possible? "EGON!" Alpha Richard yelled, his eyes blood red, yet he couldn't make his son submit. Egon didn't even look back at him. "I REFUSE TO MARRY YOUR PRINCESS!" Alpha Prince Egon repeated to Harry. "I... I understand," Harry nodded repeatedly, afraid of becoming faceless like Lucas' Beta at any moment. Alpha Prince Egon left the meeting hall without giving Alpha Richard a second glance. Once he was gone, Harry breathed a sigh of relief, but Richard and William's faces had turned red and ugly. From the beginning, Harry had found something odd about William, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. "Alpha Richard, what do you want me to convey to my Alpha?" Harry questioned in a lower tone. The tension in the air was palpable, especially since Richard was offended. It would be a grave disrespect to Alpha Richard if handled improperly. "Tell Alpha Levi that I am glad he proposed this marriage, but Alpha Prince has refused. Instead, I am ready to renew our peace contract with him for five more years," Alpha Richard remarked. A broad smile spread across Harry's lips. This was a significant achievement, he was not returning empty-handed! "Thank you so much for renewing the peace agreement. I will convey your words to Alpha Levi," Harry bowed. Alpha Richard rose with a devilish expression, followed by Beta William. The situation had turned ugly, it was best for Harry to quickly leave the palace, avoiding any trouble. Once he returned to the Blood Moon Pack, he went straight to meet Alpha Levi, who was enjoying his wine. "Alpha, Alpha Prince Egon refused to marry Princess Emily, but Alpha Richard said he wants to renew the peace treaty for five more years." "That's great news. Great job, Harry!" Alpha Levi grinned, passing Harry a glass of wine. "Why did Alpha Prince Egon reject the marriage proposal?" Alpha Levi was puzzled. "I don't know, Alpha, but he flatly refused to my face. There is no one in the world who doesn't know how precious our Princess is. She possesses the beauty of the moon, once someone lays eyes on her, they can't tear them away. I'm sure Alpha Prince must have heard that the Blood Moon Pack has a goddess-like Princess Emily in their possession, yet he refused. Maybe his upbringing made him dislike women, so he declined the marriage," Harry assumed. Alpha Levi simply nodded, thinking along the same lines. Just as Harry was about to take a sip of his wine, he realized he had lost the paper containing Alpha Prince Egon and Princess Emily's marriage proposal. Dread washed over his soul. He excused himself quickly and checked all his pockets in horror. "What's wrong?" a passing warrior asked. "Oh no, I lost those papers," Harry exclaimed, covering his mouth, his eyes widening. "What papers?" "They were the papers of the marriage proposal between Princess Emily and Prince Egon," Harry's voice shook. "Why are you so worried? I heard the Prince turned down the proposal, right?" the man replied coolly. "I'm worried because those papers were sealed with the royal mark of the Blood Moon Pack, and Alpha Levi had Princess Emily sign them," Harry murmured, causing the other man to be filled with fear upon learning this. "Now what will happen, Harry?" "If those papers fall into the wrong hands, it will be a disaster. Those papers are like a blank check with Princess Emily's signature!" Harry ran his hand through his hair in terror, remembering when and where he had lost them. He was in deep trouble. **** "Princess..." Monica, the Princess' bodyguard, rushed into the Princess' bedroom, gasping for air. Emily sat in the middle of the room, with her paintbrush in hand, engrossed in painting since morning. Sonia was by her side. "Calm down, Monica. Take a breath and then speak," Emily said calmly, returning to her painting. "I have news," Sonia said gravely. "Tell me," Princess Emily replied calmly. "Alpha Prince Egon refused the marriage proposal," Monica exclaimed, her fist tightly clenched by her side. This news was the worst, as Alpha Levi was bound to unleash his anger on Emily. Monica waited for Emily's reaction, but there was pure silence. The Princess didn't seem sad or angry. Instead, she continued painting. Monica and Sonia exchanged confused glances. The last time they had asked about the marriage, the princess had smiled. She didn't seem scared at all about marrying a monster, and now she was completely unfazed. "Princess, did you know the Alpha Prince was going to refuse the marriage proposal?" Sonia and Monica asked in unison. Emily put her paintbrush down and smiled at them. "Did you two arrange everything as I asked?" Emily questioned instead of giving an answer. Sonia and Monica blinked, realizing that Emily truly knew Egon would reject the proposal. But how? "We have arranged everything, but are you sure you want to proceed, Princess? If Alpha Levi finds out, he will kill everyone," Sonia stammered. Emily simply shook her head with another smile and returned to her painting.
