Chapter 2
Poppy's Point of View(One Week Later)
I woke up to the sound of my alarm. I looked over to see it was seven in the morning. I quickly got out of bed, grabbed my clothes, and headed to the bathroom to shower. I did my business before getting in the shower. I cleaned myself with my vanilla-scented body wash before hopping out of the shower. I brush my teeth and hair. I decided to let my long black hair that reached my waist hang free.
After putting on my blue jean shorts and blue T-shirt, I walked out of the bathroom and knocked on Lilly's bedroom door, then opened it to see Lilly still in bed like I had thought. "Lilly, It's time to get up and get ready for school," I said
"Okay, I am up," Lilly replied, and I walked out of her room and into the kitchen to make bacon and eggs. It was finally Monday, and I was starting college that morning. I was majoring in Business and had two morning classes that I would have to go to. The first was Business Communication and then Finance.
Luckily, Lilly's school started at eight thirty, and my first class started at nine forty-five, which gave me time to get her to school and then make it to my Business Communications without me being late to my class.
Lilly came into the kitchen with a pair of blue jeans and a pink shirt on. Lilly had her black hair, which was a little shorter than mine, in a high ponytail. Lilly looked a lot like me. We both had long black hair and gray eyes. She was taller than I was by three inches. I was five foot three inches. I was curvier than her and was told I had an hourglass shaped body.
"You look cute," I said as I put both of our plates on the table.
"Thanks," Lilly said, and we ate our breakfast. We ate quickly so we wouldn't be late for school. The morning that the Social Worker came to the apartment, she made it clear that it was very important for Lilly to attend school regularly. I wasn't worried about Lilly skipping school or anything because she wasn't the type to do that.
Once we finished eating, we cleaned the kitchen before leaving for school. I dropped Lilly off at High School and headed to college. I was attending Purdue University, which gave me a full scholarship for four years. I parked my car and headed into the school to get to class.
On my way inside, I bumped into someone causing both of our books to fall on the ground. "I am so sorry," I said as I bent down to pick up my books.
"So am I. It is my first day, and I was rushing so I wouldn't be late," The girl said as she also picked her books up. I looked up and saw a blue eyed girl with long curly reddish brown hair looking at me.
"Mine too," I said.
"What class are you going to?" The girl asked.
"Business Administration," I said.
"Me, too. Is it room 303?" She asked.
"Yeah," I replied.
"Great, we are going in the same direction. Do you mind if I walk with you?" She asked.
"No, I don't mind," I replied, and we headed to class.
"My name is Amelia Mitchell," Amelia said as we walked to our class.
"Hi, My name is Poppy Jones," I replied.
"Nice to meet you, Poppy Jones," Amelia said.
"You too, Amelia Mitchell," I replied.
We went to class and sat next to each other. The teacher walked into the class and started teaching. We didn't do much but go over the syllabus and what was expected of us in the class. Once the teacher was done talking, he said we could talk amongst ourselves.
Amelia and I talked, and I could tell we were going to become good friends. We seemed to hit it off quickly, which was good. I was happy to learn that she was also in my Finance class, which started an hour after Business Administration.
After school was done, we decided to grab lunch. Amelia offered to drive us, so we walked to her car. I was shocked to see that she had one of those new Red Audi's. I wasn't a car person, but I knew they cost a lot of money.
"So, are you from here?" Amelia asked as we ate our burgers.
"Yeah, I grew up here," I replied.
"Me too. I am staying at home with my parents. I wanted to live in the dorms, but they wouldn't let me. They are so protective over me and my little sister, but they let my brother do anything. It isn't fair because we are twins, and I should be treated just like him. How about you? Are you living in the dorm room or at home with your parents?" Amelia asked.
"I don't have parents," I said, and Amelia looked at me.
"What do you mean?" Amelia asked.
"I grew up in the Foster Care system with my Little Sister, Lilly. When I turned eighteen a few months back, I went to the courts to get custody of her, and luckily they approved it. We live in an apartment over on East Tenth," I replied. I was shocked that I told her all of that. I usually didn't tell anyone about my past, but I felt comfortable with her.
"I am so sorry to hear that, Poppy. You are a great person. My mom had to raise my Uncle Liam after her mom died when she was younger too. You must really love your sister," Amelia said.
"She is the only family I have," I replied.
"I don't know why, but I have a big feeling you and I are going to be the best of friends," Amelia said with a smile on her face.
It was crazy because I was feeling the same way.
