Chapter 3
Poppy's Point of View
"Finally, the day is over," Amelia said as the end of class came. After we finished eating, we headed back to the school for our Finance Class. Just like in Business Administration, the teacher only went over the syllabus and what she expected from everyone. Then she gave us a three-page worksheet to fill out, which we had to look in the book for the answers. Everyone was happy when the class was dismissed.
"Do you have any classes tomorrow?" Amelia asked.
"Yeah, I have Communications and Economics," I replied.
I have Communications and Marketing. At least we have Communication together," Amelia said.
"Yeah, well, this is me. See you tomorrow," I replied.
"See you," Amelia said, and I got into my car. I put the key in the ignition and tried to start it, but it wouldn't start. It kept making the sound like it wanted to start but wouldn't.
"Come on," I said worriedly, but the car wouldn't start.
"Is everything okay?" Amelia asked as she stood by my window, which was rolled down.
"My car won't start and I have to pick my sister up in two hours from school," I replied.
"Don't worry. I will take you to pick your sister up from school. I will ask my dad if his Mechanic can look at your car. I am sure he won't mind," Amelia said.
"Are you sure? I don't want to be a burden," I replied.
"You are not a burden. Now, come on," Amelia said, and I walked with her to her car. When we got inside, Amelia called her dad.
"Hey, Daddy. I was wondering if Joe could come and look at my friend Poppy's car. It won't start," Amelia said. "I know you have never heard of her, but she is my new friend," Amelia said after listening to what her dad had to say. "Thanks, Daddy," Amelia said and ended the call.
"He said he would call Joe and then give me a call back," Amelia said.
"Okay, thank you for helping me," I replied.
"I already told you it is no problem at all. You don't have to keep thanking me. We are friends," Amelia said with a smile on her face, causing me to smile as well. After about ten minutes, Amelia's dad called back and said Joe would be at the school in about thirty minutes.
"This car has been through a lot. I need to figure out what is wrong with the car. It might take me a few days to fix it. Mr. Mitchell told me I could work on it at your house so that I will tow it there. I will be able to tell you a time frame in about thirty minutes," Joe said as he looked at it, causing me to become worried. I needed that car to get around.
"Okay," I said
"We will meet you at my house," Amelia told Joe.
Joe used his tow truck and towed my car to Amelia's house.
"You okay?" Amelia asked.
"I need that car to get around," I said.
"Don't worry. Everything is going to be fine. Let's go to my house to see what Joe says about the car. I am sure it won't take too long to fix it," Amelia said, and we got into her car, and she started to drive.
I was shocked when we made it to her house. She lived in a mansion. It was bigger than any house I had ever seen. "This is your house?" I asked, shocked.
"Yeah," Amelia said
"It is beautiful," I said.
"Thanks," Amelia replied. We got out of the car and walked into the house.
"Hey, Sweety," a woman with long black hair and brown eyes said as she walked into the living room.
"Hey, Mom," Amelia replied.
"This must be your friend," Amelia's mom said.
"Hello, Mrs. Mitchell. My name is Poppy Jones," I said.
"Hello, Sweetheart, and you can call me Cami. You don't have to call me Mrs. Mitchell," Cami said with a smile on her face.
"Where is Dad?" Amelia asked.
"In his office, talking to your brother. He is upset he didn't make it to class today," Cami said. A minute later, an older man with blond hair and blue eyes walked into the room and wrapped his arms around Cami. He was in good shape for his age.
"Everything alright," Cami asked.
"Your son is going to be the death of me," the man said.
"Don't you mean our son?" Cami asked, and the man sighed before looking at me.
"You must be Poppy. I am Amelia's dad Blake."
"Hello, it's nice to meet you. Thanks for having your Mechanic look at my car. I hope it wasn't a bother," I said.
"It was not a bother, Sweetheart," Blake replied.
"Are you girls hungry? We were just about to eat," Cami asked.
"We had a burger earlier, but I am a little hungry. How about you, Poppy?" Amelia asked.
"Yeah, so am I," I replied.
"Good. Let's go to the backyard," Cami said, and everyone headed to the backyard. The backyard was big and had a pool.
We all sat at the table, which had a fruit bowl, a vegetable bowl, and chicken wings on it.
"Where is BJ?" Cami asked.
"He must be in that room. I told him to meet us outside to eat. He had better not be in his room with that girl," Blake said as he stood from his seat and walked into the house.
"What, girl?" Amelia asked.
"You know how your brother is always bringing random girls home," Cami said.
"Yeah, I feel sorry for whoever his soulmate is," Amelia said, and I looked at her, confused. What did she mean, soulmate?
"BJ, stop," I heard a female voice say, and I looked toward the door to see a male and female walking into the backyard. The male had his arms wrapped around the female's shoulder.
I gasped when the male's ocean blue eyes met my gray ones, and he froze in his spot.
"BJ, come and meet your sister's new friend, Poppy," Cami said, but he just kept staring at me. I was shocked at the words that came from his mouth.
"No, this can't be happening." And then he walked out of the backyard with the girl following after him. I couldn't help but wonder what his problem was.
