Justice

(Innocent Until Proven Guilty)

“Run!!! And never look back” he helplessly told me

“No I’ll never leave you” “it’s was best for us now run”

I run as fast as I can and left him behind then BANG! BANG! BANG!

No…. A tear escape from my eye and I can’t really believe this is happening. He’s innocent, I’m innocent, we’re innocent. Now I believe that Justice is controlled by who has the power and the slaves need to suffer. I promise this will change and justice will no longer be just for the rich

“Someone’s looking for you”

“Let him in” then a middle-aged man came inside my office

“Attorney help me. I’ve been framed up. I’m innocent I haven't killed anyone. I need someone to defend me in court. And if you help me there is a great chance that the case will be dismissed. I’m begging you attorney please help me.”

“If you say you are innocent, and then let's prove it in the court”

This is the day I need to be presentable and I need to be professional

“This honorable court of the Republic of the Philippines with the Honorable Judge Clyde Salvador is now in session. All rise” Now I’m a bit nervous

“Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Calling the case of the people of the Philippines versus the accused. Are you both ready “I gulped

“Ready for the people, your honor,” the prosecutor said

“Ready for the defense, your honor” I calmly replied

“Prosecution, would you like to start the opening statement?”

“Yes your honor,” he said and stood up

“The evidence, in this case, will prove that on Tuesday, March 24 the accused killed the victim with a g*n”

This will be a very tiring day

“Ladies and gentlemen, people in this court Case #0017 People of the Philippines versus the accused under Republic Act No. 7659 Section 6. Article 248. The jury has its verdict.”

"Your Honor, the members of this Jury find the Accused NOT GUILTY!"

“Court is adjourned.”

I can’t believe I won my case. I proved someone’s innocent.

I’ve fulfilled my promise. A tear escape from my eye remembering that day. The day when I lost a friend, a brother, a family. I wish he can see me winning my cases.

“Congrats attorney another case solved” I turn around and see the person I least expected. It was him. If it’s a dream I don’t want to wake up.

“H-h-how a heard a gunshot?”

“That gunshot was not for me. It’s for the killer someone helped me. I want to follow that time but he said no for it will only worsen the situation. he also sent me to a law school just like our dream and just like you,  I’m a licensed lawyer. Atty. VANNA CASTRO.”

“Good to hear that Atty. VINN MONTEMAYOR”
