~ Amaris POV ~
It’s a good thing that I got out of that place otherwise who knows what might have happened with me.
That crazy man would have killed me if I didn’t run away from that place.
I don’t remember how long I am running, but I need to get away from this place as soon as possible if I want to save my neck.
My fate is quite funny.
I was finding a way to get away from him, but the only person whom I met in this forest happened to be that mad dog from whom I was trying to hide.
Should I laugh at my situation or should I curse my fate?
Well, I don’t think I need to curse it because I am sure that everything happens for a reason and I just wait for my chance to strike back.
Crying over every little thing is not my style.
I am certain that when that reason will unfold to everyone then everything will become a little too exciting for me and I can’t wait for that to happen.
I was now walking out of the forest while I was still not able to find a place from where I and Sophia could escape, but now I don’t have the time for this.
I think that damn Vampire Prince will now head towards the Palace and I can’t let him harm Sophia in any manner even if I have to face him.
He can do whatever he wants to do with me, but I can’t allow him to touch Sophie.
She is the only remaining family of mine.
I was now rushing back as fast as possible.
The mere thought of that monster harming my sister is enough to make me shiver.
After running for a while I finally reached the Palace, but when I looked around I didn’t find any corpses lying on the ground.
When I was heading over to this place I thought that I will be welcomed by some corpses, but to my surprise there is none.
Did he not even leave behind the dead bodies of the people whom he killed?
I have heard that he is someone who doesn’t think twice before killing someone and he likes it when the whole place is covered in blood.
The mere thought of dealing with that kind of man is enough to make me sick.
I then started to walk towards the dungeon to find about Sophia’s condition, but there I saw my aunt. I mean, Queen Emma.
She was walking back and forth with a worried look on her face.
I don’t know how did she find about Sophia’s location, but I am sure that she is not here to protect her daughter.
My aunt is not the type of woman who has any sort of sympathy even for her daughter.
For her, she is just like some thorn in her eyes.
After Sophia’s birth, she was not able to give birth to a boy who would have become the heir to the throne.
She is quite narrow-minded and that trait will one day push her into the abyss of darkness.
Well, I will make sure that the one who will push her into that abyss will be only one person and that’s going to be me.
I will make sure of it, but for now, I have to see that why is she roaming here and for what reason?
“What are you doing in such a dirty place, your majesty?
I am sure that you have lots of maids then why did the Queen especially come to this dark dungeon?”, I asked the annoying woman whilst I bowed my head towards her.
I knew that she will get mad the moment she will pay her eyes on me and I was right about it.
As the moment she heard my words, she walked closer to me only to slap me hard across my face.
I think she must have used her fingernails to scar my face this time. She just never gives up, does she?
“You b***h!
How dare you ask me questions?
I am the Queen of this kingdom and I can go anywhere I want to go and that too without asking for your permission.
Don’t tell me that I need to ask for your permission now to move into my own Palace?
Did you forget the beating of last time, huh?
Do you want me to jolt up your memory?
No, right?
Then tell me where exactly did you hide my daughter?”, Queen Emma asserted to me in a cold voice whilst she grabbed me by my hair.
She was now holding my hair in her tight grasp while she was glaring at me with a dead look on her face.
I only smirked at her as this was new for me and neither for her.
“When did I ever say that you need my permission to move in the Palace?
Don’t try to twist my words, your majesty.
I know that you can do better than this.
You know, I am just curious that why are you finding Sophia.
Don’t tell me that you have finally found your motherly instincts.
Believe me, I won’t believe that s**t.
So, what exactly do you want from her?”, I asked her in a low voice whilst I was looking straight into her eyes.
She only firms her grasp around my hair after listening to my words.
“Did you forget your place in front of me?
You filthy thing.
Don’t you remember how you need to address me and even your tone it’s quite disrespectful?
Why do I need to always show you how to act in front of me, huh?
Stephan is tolerating you, but that doesn’t mean that even I have to tolerate your discourteous behaviour.
I asked you a simple question and I want you to answer me simply.
I don’t think that it will be too hard for you, right?”, she asked me in a cold voice whilst she glared at me with an angry expression on her face.
I am sure that one day she will depart from this world because of her anger only and that will make things boring for me.
I mean, how can I let her die so peacefully?
I am curious that why she is trying to find Sophia so desperately?
There must be a reason, right?
“Mother! I am here.
So, please don’t beat Amaris.
She only hid me to protect me and nothing else”, Sophia yelled in a loud voice whilst she walked in my direction with a scared look on her face.
How am I going to take care of her when she is this scared to face her own mother?
“My, oh, my.
Such an emotional reunion, but can we know focus on the main topic?
Sophia, I need you to come with me.
There is something that I need you to do and I hope that this time this little b***h won’t interfere”, my so-called aunt said in an annoyed tone whilst she gritted her teeth in anger.
I am sure that this woman is up to something and I need to figure it out.
I have to follow her otherwise, only God will know what kind of tricks she is going to play with Sophia.
The Queen then let go of my hair and after that, she grasped Sophia by her wrist.
She was now dragging her out of the dungeon whilst I silently followed them.
Why is she heading towards her chamber? After entering her chamber she asked her maid to bring a bowl of soup for Sophia.
The moment she heard her command the maid immediately dashed out of her chamber to get what the Queen asked her to bring.
Why did she suddenly want to feed Sophia?
I don’t think that she ever considered those things in the past.
After few seconds the maid came back with a tray in her hands.
She then placed the tray in front of Sophia and she only looked at her mother with confusion, but even then she didn’t ask her anything.
“I want you to finish this bowl of soup, Sophia”, she asserted in a cold voice whilst she was looking straight into her eyes.
I was standing in a corner while Sophia time to time looked at me with a nervous expression on her face.
I want to help her out, but I don’t think that I will be able to do that for now.
“I don’t like to repeat myself, Sophia and I am certain that you know about it, right?”, my aunt asked her in a dead tone whilst she smiled at her.
After listening to her words Sophia immediately gulped down the entire bowl of hot soup without even thinking twice.
How much did she torment her that Sophia ended up in this state?
After drinking the hot soup, she started to cough and her eyes were filled with tears.
The pain that she went through was quite evident on her face.
I wanted to comfort her, but I know that I will only create more problems for her if I will help her out right now.
“Listen Sophia.
As the Princess of this kingdom, you have some obligations that you need to fulfil.
So, your father has decided to set up your marriage with the vampire Prince.
You are soon going to become his bride”, she told her in a low voice whilst she asked her maid to clear up the table.
Obligations?
It sounds more like a sacrifice to me.
She is saying that they both are ready to sacrifice their daughter in the name of saving their own necks.
What a cowardly couple they are.
I can’t believe that they don’t even care about their own daughter.
Well, I should be used to all of this by now.
“What! But... but mother he is... he the mad dog?
He is someone who kills anyone just on his whims.
Why do you want me to become his bride?
No... no, I can’t marry that cold-hearted man.
Do you hate me that much that you have decided to kill me in this manner?
Becoming his wife is no less than a death sentence for me.
It will be better if you order someone to behead me.
It will be a little less painful than becoming a vampire's bride”, Sophia blurted out those words in a stuttered tone whilst she looked towards the ground.
I can’t believe that she stood up for herself.
The Queen only clenched her fists tightly and after that, she got up from her chair.
She then headed towards Sophia’s direction with her eyes filled with rage.
Sophia only gulped down hard while she looked towards her mother.
She also got up from her chair, but before she could say anything to her mother, she received a tight slap from her mother on her face.
Sophia’s head bump on the side of the table and her forehead started to bleed.
I dashed in her direction to help her to get up, but she was no longer conscious.
I was now holding her body whilst I was sitting on the floor.
“Tsk, she ruined my perfect mood.
She is becoming just like you and this thing is enough to piss me off!
Take Princess Sophia back to her room and inform his majesty that she agreed to the marriage”, the Queen declared in a loud voice whilst she asked the maids to throw me out.
No, I can’t let that Vampire Prince ruin Sophia’s life.
She has suffered a lot just like me and that Mateo Von Valentino is just not right for my sister.
Meanwhile,
“I can’t believe that you will offer such a precious thing of yours to me, king Stephan”, Mateo exclaimed in a deep voice whilst he kept his one leg over the other with a smirk on his face.
The king only smiled at him nervously while his forehead was covered with sweat.
He was scared to the point where he started to shiver in front of everyone and this thing made Mateo laugh out loud.
No one dared to laugh while Mateo was laughing as they were scared that if they did then the next thing will be their neck rolling on the ground.
Mateo then stopped laughing and after thinking for a while, he decided to agree with the king.
As even he has gotten bored to live such a long life and he thought that maybe his bride will bring some entertainment in his life.
Thereupon, he tilted his head whilst he glanced towards Stephan.
“Alright, today I am letting you live and that too because of your daughter, but mark my words that if she will not up to my expectations then not only will I finish her on the same day of our wedding, but I will also kill you all with that daughter of yours.
I am going to give you just five days to prepare for the wedding and after that, not only your daughter’s but even your fate will be determined by me.
Do you understand, king Stephan?
Oh, or should I start calling you future father-in-law?”, Mateo said to him in a cold voice whilst he got up from the throne with a smug on his face.
Everyone only gasped in shock when he walked closer to the king of Thera.
Mateo then leaned closer to him and after that, he whispered to him in a low voice, “One wrong move and it will cost you your life, future father-in-law.”
After saying those words he only smiled at him for the last time and then he turned around to leave the place, but before leaving the place, Mateo stopped in his track and asked the king to find out the woman who was wandering in the dark forest as he has a score to settle with her.
The king only sighed in relief after the vampire Prince left the Palace.
He can’t believe that by sacrificing his daughter, he was able to save his throne and also his neck at the same time.
