THE KILL JOB EPISODE SIXTEEN

ST. MICHAEL'S HOSPITAL

Angie had been at the hospital the entire morning and was forced to leave after Liz showed up for the obvious reason. They could not both stay in that room without ending up in the fight and even though Jonathan felt bad about Angie leaving, he couldn't send his wife away.

Liz: how are you feeling?

Even before Jonathan got to respond to that, Angie fainted by the door and Liz had to get a nurse who came rushing in and with Liz's help they helped her to the next room where the nurse was going to check what the problem was.

Liz got back to Jonathan's room and talking to him had become difficult as the only thing he wanted to know was if his sister was okay.

Liz: do you even recognize that am here at all?

That question made Jonathan switch his attention to her.

Jonathan: of cause I know you are here, am just a bit worried about Angie that's all.

Liz: is there anything I should know about you and Angie?

Jonathan: anything like what?

Liz: you tell me because I don't quite get the bond between the two of you. It's beyond the ordinary brother and sister kind of a bond.

Jonathan: I don't know what you are trying to say Liz. You are being really unreasonable.

Liz: am I, am a woman Jonathan and I know when I should ask questions. She is all you talk about, she gets in trouble and you leave everything to attend to her. The other day Talia got sick and all you could do was give us a driver to take us to the hospital. We are your family and you don't give us that kind of attention.

The nurse walked in in the middle of whatever was going on and asked Liz to step out as she needed to check on Jonathan who by then was exhausted from all the talking.

Nurse: how are you feeling Jonathan?

Jonathan: much better thanks. When will I be discharged?

Nurse: not sure yet but if you keep up recovering at this rate, I think you will go home soon.

Jonathan: what is wrong with my sister, is she okay?

Nurse: yes, it's nothing you should worry about.

Jonathan: where is she?

Nurse: she has left.

The nurse finished whatever she was doing then left the room and Liz went back inside. When Jonathan saw her he turned the other side and so Liz figured out that he was not in the mood to talk to her so she put the fruits she had brought on top of the small trolley beside the bed and left..

Angie drove home as Caroline had even told her that she would be going to her place in the afternoon so she rushed home so that she couldn't keep her waiting by the door.

Kepha and I together with our new friend walked to my abandoned house and pushed him to a corner as I fixed the silencer to my gun. Talking to him by the road side had become a bit hard as he wasn't willing to cooperate.

Me: who are you and what do you know about us?

Raf: I swear I don't know anything, I don't even know who you guys are.

Kepha: not convinced at all. Why were you running?

He didn't answer that.

Me: Raf, I will make this Abit easy for you. You have two choices, one is to tell us the truth or two is to die, right here right now.

Raf: I can't say anything, they will kill me.

Me: see the thing is am planning to kill you too but I can make it one shot in the head that will be less painful or alternatively you give me the info i want, and I will protect you from whoever is after you.

Kepha: where is your phone?

He dug inside his pocket and gave kepha tge phone.

Kepha: what am I looking for?

Raf: officer Jeffrey. He is the one am working for

Kepha: what does he know about us?

He didn't answer that.

Me: he asked you a question, what does he know about us?

Raf: everything. The guys you have been killing, he asked me to follow you around and take photos of the stuff you are doing.

Me: what are his plans after getting the photos.

Raf: I don't know man, I was just following orders.

Me: last night, we got highjacked at the junction just before we took the main road. What do you know about that?

Raf: I don't know anything about that.

Kepha: but you saw what happened?

Raf: yes. I was following you but after the incident I took off.

Me: where does officer Jeffrey live?

Raf: I don't know.

Me: does he have a wife, Children?

Raf: no, he has a girlfriend who works a in a coffee shop down town.

Me: you have a name?

Raf: Rachel

Kepha: you have all these details but you don't know where Jeffery lives?

Raf: we once visited the coffee shop when we were going to discuss business. It was almost end of her shift so we waited for her in the car and they dropped me off as they proceeded.

I tucked in my gun and started walking away then kepha followed me but on second thought went back and when i followed him, I saw him shoot the Raf guy in the head and we hurriedly left the place.

See I had made up my mind and decided that because the guy cooperated I was going to let him live, I mean that was the first time I had said no to the urge to kill but then came kepha. He became the new me.

"What did you do that for?" I asked flagging down a bike.

Kepha: if we let him leave he would give the Jeffrey guy a heads-up.

The bike stopped and we both boarded the same bike heading to my place.

AT THE G5 HIDEOUT

The day had been slow especially after the confrontation with Jeffery and because the rest of the team was not away of Marvin's arrangements with the cop, the held a meeting that led to different opinions and thoughts and because they leader Nuksi was no more, everyone wanted to take charge.

Slim: I say everyone should manage themselves but we remain a team.

Dufla: you mean like the way Melvin did?

Melvin: what are you talking about?

Dufla:look man, what you did was not cool. You know Jeffery is a cop and you both had an agreement that backfired then you confront each other here, what if he decides to raid this place and wipe all if us out, what business do you have with cops in the first place?

Melvin: besides being a cop Jeffery is my boy, he is the reason why we get gigs and he is always in the look out, you know we need him sk don't give me that crap.

Slim: no man, you need to listen to us as you are not running s**t here. That confrontation was dangerous and you know the moment our cover is blown we are as good as dead and you are not dragging us down that hole with you.

Melvin: so what do you want me to do, kill him?

Slim and Dufla looked at each other then looked at Melvin.

Melvin: no, you stay the hell away from Jeffery.

Slim: you know it's the right thing to do man.

Melvin: you want to challenge me now, I said stay the hell away from Jeffery.

He said pushing him to the wall and crossing his hand on his neck.

Dufla: back off man..

Dufla said pushing Melvin away.

Dufla: you are going to fight us because of a stupid cop whom should the worst come to the worst will just throw us under the bus to save his skin?

Melvin: you don't know him like I do, so stay away...

He said picking his jacket and walking out on them.

ANGIE'S HOUSE

Caroline had already showed up and was keeping Angie company in the kitchen as she fixed then something to eat. Caroline had a big salon in town and that's where she met Angie when she one day showed up to have her hair done and they kicked off their friendship just like that after realizing they had alot in common. They both exchanged numbers and with time they became best of friends.

Caroline: it seems like you are eating well of late you have added some weight.

Angie smiled and didn't give a comment on that though she knew exactly what Caroline was talking about.

Angie: forget about my weight, how is your guy and when am I meeting him?

Caroline smiled and helped her take the food to the table.

Angie: what, am I not supposed to meet my best friends boyfriend, or maybe he is not that cute huh?

Caroline: a man is as good as his wallet, cuteness is overated. Anyway, you will meet him soon only that am not sure about him.

Angie: what makes you say that?

Caroline: I don't feel him, our relationship isn't as it was the first few months. Nowadays he comes home late in the night if at all he has to and when I ask why, he says it's work. I have never been to his place and he has not introduced me to any of his friends or family.

Angie: men are not like us, they don't get excited over these meeting family and friends business like we do but you not knowing where he lives for over a year is alarming..

They talked for a while but their conversation was interrupted by a call from Melvin who has called to check on Caroline since he had passed by the salon but she wasn't there. Caroline told him where the key was and Melvin promised to prepare her dinner and treat her to a foot massage when she got home.caroline was excited and couldn't wipe the smile off her face even after hanging up.

Caroline: that was Melvin. He wants to make me dinner and foot massage me, isn't that sweet?

Angie: yeah it's so sweet. About last night, did you find out who put the bhang in your car?

Caroline: no. I honestly can't even explain where it came from or how they ended up in my car.

Angie: you need to be very careful, I didn't know who the target was but that God for my brother I didn't sleep in jail.

Caroline: yeah, he was so tough on them back there.

Angie: yeah, some one tried to kill me last night and he took a bullet for me.

Caroline: oh my God, is he okay?

Angie: he barely survived last night, I don't even know what i would do without him.. Caroline..

Caroline: yes,

Angie: there is something I need to tell you...

We got to my place and after chilling for a while the door opened and in walked ondieki with a cape and shades on his face. He surprised us because the entire time we had known that he was locked up in his room.

Me: where the hell are you coming from?

Peterson: don't ask me that, am not your teenanage son.

Me: right you are not but you leaving the house and roaming around was not part of the package when we chose to save your life.

Peterson: I can't stay cooked in here for the rest of Mily life..

Me: you will as long as people still believe you are dead, where the hell did you go?

Peterson: I needed some air, so now what, do I report to you.

I chucked my gun from behind and held it on his face.

Me: how about I end this mess you put us in because we are busy risking our lives tk save yours and you are busy risking ours. What if someone spotted and followed you here, we've got ndege's guys roaming around like dogs on the loose.

Peterson: put that gun down boy, we both know you can't kill me..

Me: hell yeah I can. You are the reason for all my problems, you aew the reason i buried my daughter six feet under, you are the reason my wife is not here and you are the damn reason my life has become so messed up with people coming after me. So don't even think I will not pull the trigger maybe half my problems will be solved.

Peterson: okay, don't do that. Am sorry.

Kepha: we need both your tablet and phone. I don't even think trusting you was the right call but you see my friend here has a thing for loyalty.

Peterson: you can't have my phone...

Kepha: sorry but am not asking..

He said reaching out to him and taking both the phone and the tablet as I still held the gun to his face..

Kepha asked Peterson to unlock the phone which he did and the first place he went to was the call log. "Let's find out who you were meeting" he said scrolling down the phone and he noticed a name saved banana and it had been call severally..

Kepha: banana huh!

He asked going to the messages to check if there were some messages from banana and to his shock there were.

Kepha: sit your ass down man,

Kepha said and Peterson obeyed immediately. Kepha passed me the phone and I went through the messages as he kept watch.

Kepha: so who is this banana, do we know her?

Me: is this some sort of conspiracy?

I asked reading the text loudly. "Leave the house by 12:00am, my boys will strike!"

Kepha: i knew there was more to you spending so much time on your phone, who is banana?

Peterson was one proud man who did not seem to realize when he should swallow his pride and speak to save his life. I was beginning to get so impatient with him especially with him not answering our questions.

Me: you plans for an attack to wipe kill me even after saving your life... You ungrateful son of ....

Peterson: I had to do it. It's not like am safe here with you guys after all. She knew you saved my life and she only wanted to help.

Me: who is she?

Peterson: Sabina!

No, this was a big joke. Which Sabina was he talking bout because the Sabina we knew was now working for his brother, infact she had been working for him without Peterson knowledge, what game was she playing?

Me: Sabina, as in Sabina your maid/ lover?

Peterson: she promised not to blow my cover and she told me of the encounter you had the other day, Sabina told me that you guys were planing to get rid of me after I told you everything you needed to know about Tom. She was only looking after me,

Me: Sabina was only looking after Sabina. That encounter you are talking about, she got us abducted and locked us up for the better part of that day. She told us how she had been asked to study you and seduce you into telling her information about the company then eventually she was to kill you, that was the same night i saved your life.

Peterson: no, she loved me and she couldn't have done that to me.

Kepha: you are indeed stupid and I can't believe I was risking my life for nothing, right now my wife is not even talking to me and hearing you talk makes me think I should have put a bullet in your head the moment you walked in that door..

Me: we need to get the hell out of here. It's unbelievable to even think that I just got here..

I said going to my room and packing the few clothes I had bought. I put the bag on the couch then went to the kitchen and came back with the gas cylinder placed it in the middle of the room and let the gas out.

I also got some tape and taped both Peterson's hands behind his back..

Peterson: what are you doing?

Me: something I should have done long time ago.

Peterson: no no man, this is not funny, please.

Me: do I look like am laughing, you wanted to attack me in my sleep with your goons, my daughter didn't deserve to die like she did and it all happened because I thought twice about killing you when I was asked to. You and everyone else who is involved will die a painful death and I know it will not bring my Aliyah back, but I will have tried to bring her death to justice.

Me: where is Sabina now, oh don't mind. I will hunt her down and give her your regards..

I took my bag and by then the room was filled with the smell of gas so on my way out I shot the cylinder and rushed down the stairs and what followed was a huge explosion that sent glasses shattering and before people could gather around we had already fled the scene..

I was so mad at Peterson and the talk about Aliyah got me abit emotional. Everytime I would come a cross a girl her size all I could see was her. The pretty dresses and a group of teenage girls taking and laughing anly reminded me of the things that could have been that never was. I was looking forward to see my baby graduate and I was alomso looking forwards to the day she would fall in love and bring my inlaw home for introduction, i was looking forward to the day I would walk down my daughter down the isle and hand her over to the man who would take over loving and protecting her from where I left. I was looking forward to seeing my grandchildren but what type of a dad had i been to her? I left her on her birthday all upset because I was chasing after stuff that never brought anything to my my life except for pain and misery. When my daughter was born, i held her in my arms and promised her a whole new world where she wouldn't have to worry because Dad had her back, I promised to protect her against any harm but where was she?

Kepha: are you okay bro?

Kepha asked on noticing how quiet I had been with a tear escaping my eye.

Me: pull over i need some air.

He did pull over and I got out of the car and walked away from it. Kepha was a bit worried but he kept a distance giving me the space because he might have had an idea of how I was feeling..

Caroline had helped Angie clear the table and wash the plates as the talked about some other things and giving Caroline advice regarding her relationship with Melvin.

Caroline: I think you and kepha should come over for dinner on Friday. I will find a way to get Melvin on board with the idea though I know he is not into such. Maybe we can learn a thing or two from you guys. You seem to have a perfect relationship.

Angie looked at her and smiled.

Angie: there is no perfect relationship, you need to work on it to make it close to perfect.

Caroline: alright girl, so what did you want to tell me?

Angie thought for a while before telling her what she needed to tell her and the consequences especially after Caroline telling her how perfect her relationship with kepha seemed to be.

Angie: I think am having baby fevers.

Caroline: you are, and what's stopping you from having one?

Angie: i don't know, am just scared of the whole process.

Caroline: well, i will come back and we will talking about that, if you are having baby fever it means the time is right. Let me go home to my mine, I will confirm for Friday okay?

Angie: yes, thanks for dropping by.

They hugged and she saw her out before she came back and headed straight to her room and stood in front of the mirror.

She lifted her blouse and stared at her tummy holding her stomach and her thoughts might have been so absorbed in whatever she was thinking that she didn't notice kepha walk into the room. He stood there for a while staring at her and wgern he heard the words, "I can't be pregnant," he cleared his throat and she quickly pulled her blouse down and covered her tummy..

Angie: you are home?

Kepha: yes, if everything okay?

Angie: yes.

She said folding off a few clothes from the bed.

Kepha: Henry is here, he was wondering if he could rent out of SQ for a while.

Angie: oh you mean your second wife is here, there is no need for him renting it out, he can live there for free, with my co-wife around, atleast i will see you more often.

She put the clothes in the wardrobe and walked out leaving kepha standing there..

After Liz left tye hospital, she went straight to the of her friends office and she just needed to pass time but ended up sharing with her about what had happened to her husband and how she was feeling threatened by the tight relationship between the siblings.

Mercy: don't be too hard on her, there must be a reason. If their parents died and left them then he must be the only parent she sees around. I know of twins having such bonds, some even don't get married far apart from each other.

Liz: that's the problem, these are not twins but they are inseparable. I just want her gone from his life.

Mercy: Liz!

Liz: am not joking mercy, i even have a plan already, he will have to choose. it's either his sister or me....

Brandon found his way into Tom's bedroom and even though he looked for his phone, it was not there so he slowly came out of the room and rushed to his mother's room which was next to Tom's after he heard someone come up the stairs.

Betty: Brandon!

Brandon: shhhh!

He said climbing on to the bed and pretending to be a sleep at his mother's lap when Tom opened the door.

He looked at them and without saying a word he closed the door as he walked inside.

He went up to Betty and held her chin and attempted to kiss her but Betty pushed him away.

Brandon got up from where he was seated and walked out leaving the two of them in the room. Brandon was allowed to roam around in the house but under supervision. he was not allowed to have a phone or talk to anyone outside the house. they were more prisoners.

Tom: you know if you stopped behaving this way we could be one big happy family. You are mine Betty, I own you and you better get used to that concept. the more you fight this, the more difficult it becomes.

Betty: why are you doing this, why are you hurting me when im not the one you have a problem with?..

Tom: you are right, its not your fault but Henry, i have a problem with him and for now, i hold on to everything that i know means alot to him. its only until he does what i want that i will let her go.

she made a sigh and looked away from him..

Tom: do you know just how beautiful you are?

he asked grabbing her and pulling her to him. he grabbed her waist and pulled her closer to him. he caresed her face with his finger then kissed her but she pushed him back..

Betty: please stop..

she protested..

Tom: why, i want you you know that, why should i stop?

Betty: because we are having a serious conversation.

Tom: we can have a conversation with you in my arms..

Betty: only that i need answers and I won't get it this way..

Tom: what do you want to know?.

Betty: why are you robbing Brandon off his future, he needs to go to school Tom.

Tom: no, I will introduce a teacher for his homeschooling. I don't want him seeing that man again. He is my son now.

Brandon was standing outside the door the entire time listening to the conversation. he waited to hear Tom hurting his mum then he would just burst in there and kick his ass.

when Brandon heard Tom call him his son, he got in and made his way towards his mum and Tom brushed Brandon's head with his hand for a few seconds then got up, wake him up, I will be ordering some foods and we will be having a family dinner. Prepare yourself, I want to see you beautiful tonight. You can put on that blue dress I bought you. It brings out everything just the way I like it.

He left the room and Brandon opened his eyes and looked at his mum.

Brandon: it's going to be okay mum, I will protect you from him. he is not my Dad. i know Dad will come for us.

Betty afforded a smile and shook his head.

Betty: am the one who is supposed to be protecting you and not the other way round but yes, you are my little man and you can protect me.

Brandon: i can mum, do you remember when dad used to leave for work and he would ask me to take care of you and Aliyah, he said I was the man of the house when he was not around.

Betty: yes, I remember that and he was right. we are going to be okay.

Brandon: I miss Aliyah so much, and dad too.

Betty: come here..

She said holding out her hands to him for a hug.

Betty: I miss them too.

ANGIE'S PLACE

Angie having agreed for me to stay over she sent kepha with clean pair of bed sheets as she prepared dinner. When we got there I took a shower and was feeling much better after the moment I had earlier.

Kepha was however worried and all over sudden he was gloomy and not so exited and I could tell why though I assumed it's because Angie was still upset with him for not showing up so I honestly wanted to stay out of it because their fight was totally none of my business.
