After a provoking and heated exchange at the clinic, Lynney could at least breathe in relief being back home with her treasured Specky safe and intact. She doubted if going to the clinic was a sensible decision she had made in the first place, after all she could still manage putting on bandages for Specky and research on the internet on how to care for a minimally wounded rabbit...Stroking the poor little sweetie by her side as they laid together on the couch, Lynney just wanted to keep her mind off those unpleasant recap that kept firing inside her head...Perhaps, the immediate antidote could be a nice afternoon meal, which also bothered her for she has never been able to master the most basic skills of preparing a decent meal that was sufficient enough to make one's stomach at least half-full. She fished out her cellphone from her pocket and looked up the nearest fastfood restaurant's number. Just scrolling for a few seconds already started to make her head spin.(Her sleep over the previous night was not a really good one with those amounts of caffeine). She stifled a yawn and Specky moved affectionately closer into her arms - Lynney felt like giving it a sweet kiss, which then made her recall once again about her other precious stuffed Rolleen back in her bed after so long...
Finally, she decided, "Okay, let's see if I can make a breakthrough here...There's still enough of lettuce left in the fridge for ya...Then, I could go for a quick instant bowl noodle soup...Oh, I don't care - I can't expend any more energy than that!"
The doorbell rang out of the blue, surprising Lynney. When she went to get the door, it happened to be a delivery guy presenting her with a Pizza Hut vegetarian combo set that was utterly fresh and appetizing. Lynney's eyes rolled the moment she heard that her mom had made a paid timely online order delivery specially for her, nearly bringing tears to her eyes.
Right after she set down the most delicious pizza meal on her coffee table, Lynney made a call to her lifesaver while taking out the lettuce for Specky...
"Oh, my most beloved Mommy dearest! I love everything about you, Your Majesty!" Lynney squealed the moment Mrs Dawson answered the phone.
"Awww, come on...Who wouldn't know what my precious little one need after a stressful situation like that?!" Mrs Dawson was already packing up her clothes and belongings over at the other end.
Lynney sighed as she began to wash and soak up the vegetables while Specky waited at the couch. "I don't know, mom...I just might need to get pet insurance soon..."
"Huh? Whatever is that, dear?"
"Dealing with an unreasonable guy like that! I really didn't expect I would get so furious all of a sudden - I can't control myself...But, he's so irrational and kept on persuading and persuading...For sure, I won't give in - how can you do such a brutal thing to a poor living soul like Specky...What if she really wants to give birth? All of the stuff which God gave her was there for a reason - hormones, ability to reproduce and multiply, leaving generations of lovely bunnies behind...Can you imagine a world without baby bunnies, animals and all?! And to think that scientists are doing all their best to prevent extinction of species, how absurd is that now that they're trying to kill baby bunnies? I just don't care if they say bunnies are an invasive species - with billions of human beings on this planet earth - we are in fact the most invasive species that ever lived...But what did God keep on saying to us - be fruitful and multiply..." Lynney was about to start sobbing with tears filling her eyes that the running water nearly overflowed to the edge of the sink...
Mrs Dawson sighed and understood her daughter, "Now, don't worry, dear...Doctors are like that, especially old stubborn ones like your father's age..."
Lynney wiped her eyes dry and shook her head, "No, not that old...He looks to be in his early thirties at most - I can definitely call him the most inexperienced vet...And stiff-necked, heartless, just everything..."
Mrs Dawson wished she could be there right away with her daughter at this moment. She assured, "Alright, sweetie, we can just ignore this person from now on and look for the best clinic out there...With your mom around, anything is possible! I can't wait to see your lovely 'Spacky' by tomorrow!"
Lynney could smile a little now, "It's 'Specky', mom..."
The two shared a consoling laugh together at last...When they hung up, Lynney had cleaned up thoroughly the lettuce feast for precious Specky and the pair was all set to enjoy their well-deserved afternoon lunch. Lynney could not help but take more than twenty snaps of the photogenic Specky as she munched happily on the leafy vegetables...
Just as they were hoping that such a good time could be as long-lasting as ever, Lynney received another phone call...This time, from none other than "Sweet Little Ones" Animal Clinic...Immediately, Lynney's face fell...
