“You finally got that, sis?” Ansel’s sarcasm only made my mood worse. My head was splitting with pain, I still felt like I was half-asleep and he was sarcasming me? “You weren’t drugged?” I asked him, not wanting to believe he was already completely fine. With his strength, he should have been able to get out of the cable ties himself and then help me out! “You forgot my metabolism is way better than yours? It’s enough you eat one teaspoon of jam and you gain four kilos…” He didn’t take it easy on me with his stupid sarcasm! I was boiling with rage, which was making my headache even worse! “You want a fight?!” I hissed at him, still trying to do something with the cable tie, which was binding my hands and legs together. “Come and try to fight me if you dare.” He death-stared me, seriously inviting me for a fight. I hate you, Ansel! You and your stupid mouth! I was growling in my head. Sadly enough, I wasn’t blessed with a wolf. Unlike my stupid younger brother. He had everything it took to be the next in line after our father. I had nothing. Only stocks in the company and business school before me, so I could become hopefully the next CEO if nothing else. “Just you wait and I will!” I answered him, kicking my legs in the air, hoping it would do something. “Save your energy. We’ve been stuck here for a couple of hours. I have no idea how long this is going to take. We don’t have water, food… anything. And nobody came to check on us. There is a high chance they’re not going to give us anything. You better survive, I seriously don’t wanna listen to your spoiled whining.” He scoffed. He was completely calm in this situation, while I was trying to figure out how to get out! “Tried the door?” I asked him, still doing my best to get rid of the cable ties, which were cutting into my skin worse than before. “No use.” He said, leaning against the wall even more and closing his eyes. “So we are waiting here until a miracle happens?” I didn’t want to believe this. I was stuck here with my brother, who was supposed to protect us both. And yet he didn’t shift in his whole life! Does he even have a wolf in him?! That useless brat! “Got any better idea? Or that demon uncle of yours in a pocket?” He is seriously getting on my nerves so badly! That beefed-up empty head! But he was right. There was nothing else we could do here. Just wait for whatever comes out of that door. And hoping it could be a tiny sip of water.   Ariadne “Gabriel, where are our kids today?” I asked my husband, who was leisurely laying on a couch in the village, reading newspapers. “No idea. Probably some party for Zia’s birthday…” He answered without any interest about where our kids should be. “They got bodyguards, no need to look so sour.” Gabriel turned the page of the newspaper after he had glanced at me above the top edge for a bit. I sighed and continued pacing around the room. This isn’t like them! I didn’t get any message from any of them and it’s already been at least five hours! They never partied until four in the morning! “Can’t sleep? I know what we can do instead of sleeping.” Gabriel’s witty voice broke the silence, he had a mesmerizing smile playing on his lips as well. “You better find our kids!” I told him off, not leaving a tiny bit of the thoughts he was having in his head. “Right, right…” He sighed, got up from the sofa, and was on his way out of the room. We both knew that Ansel’s wolf still hadn’t shown himself until now. If anything was to happen, nobody could prevent it, not even the bodyguards that were with them… Dantalion is just too strong for anybody. I closed my eyes and fell down on the sofa, praying for the best outcome. The phone rang. Gabriel quickly leaped to it and picked it up. “Who is it?” I asked him, hoping Ansel finally called saying his phone died, so he couldn’t let us know sooner. “No idea. But they want to talk to you.” Gabriel shrugged, bringing the phone to me. “Hello?” I asked into the silent line. “Hello, Ariadne. I’m happy we can finally talk! I have a gift for you!” I sat down, my throat and chest squeezing together. I didn’t dare to move nor say anything. “Are you ready for the exciting information? But you should also know that I don’t give gifts for free! I always want something in return…” I could hear the guy on the other side smirking. I silently gulped. I wasn’t daring to even breathe. “I have your kiddos locked up somewhere… I bet they should be up by now, wondering what is going on with them! And the best news is… I am so generous I am going to let you have them! Now, to our deal… I am so generous that you just can’t say no! That would be really irresponsible and such a bad decision from your side! I want only one little book for giving them back to you! YES, THAT book. Exactly the one you are thinking about right now! You have it, I know… No one else would be able to handle it so well it would remain hidden! Now, to the rest of the deal. Two brats for the book. You have two hours to decide. Oh and just so you know I’m not making it up, I set up a live stream for you to watch! I sent you an e-mail with it… Enjoy watching! And I think I don’t need to say what happens if I don’t get the book within two hours, right?” End of call. Silence. “Breathe!” Gabriel shook me, so I would finally take a breath. I was gasping for air. “Fucker! Where are they! I’m going for the tablet!” Gabriel was swearing, while I was seeing all saints running around me. My kids were in danger! Zia and Ansel! He will… I gasped, gripping the sofa in my hands. I’m not going to let him do anything to them! “They are fine for now it seems… Just bickering like always.” Gabriel brought the tablet with the stream going on already. They were both in some kind of weird room, their hands behind their backs and legs tied with cable ties. “What do we do now? We can’t let him get away with this! But… the Key…” I stopped at the thought. If I gave him what he wanted, where was the guarantee he would let us all go? I bit my lower lip until blood started coming out. Were we going to be safe even if he has the Key? “There’s nothing to think about, Ariadne. It takes us over an hour and a half to get there only! Where’s the book!” Gabriel was shouting, walking fast around the house. “We can’t let him have it.” I gasped out, not believing my words. I chose the book over my children’s safety and lives?! “You can’t be serious!” Gabriel yelled at me, rage showing clearly in his face. I could see his skin getting red. Just a bit more and he would go out and kill anything that crossed his path. “And where do we get the guarantee he won’t do anything to them or to all of us when we are leaving?! Just one sentence from the Key and we’ll be gone forever! And the pack as well!” I countered him, getting up. I was worried sick about our kids, but at the same time giving the book away was too much of a risk! “I don’t care about that! We are saving them!” He came close to me, his chest huge and wide, showing me his higher position. “You know I’m not one of you… This won’t work on me.” I scoffed. “Well, good evening! Or morning? I forgot the time, really…” The sly voice behind me sent an awful chill down my spine. Gabriel fell silent as well. We both knew who it was, yet we were hoping we were both hearing voices. “Oh, come on. You didn’t forget about me, Dantalion, or have you?!” The disgusting ashy and sulfur smell filled the living room.
